Maeve Hartley

"Soooo, Gray. I know I said I knew how to get there but it turns out I don't. Directions?" Reid said into his phone as we drove down some dirt road surrounded by trees.

"You're a fucking idiot." Grayson barked on the other line as I giggled.

The week had whipped by and it was Friday night, as well as Halloween night. We were trying to make it out to Grayson's lake house to throw a Halloween party. Apparently Reid said he knew the way but clearly doesn't. It was getting dark soon and we promised we'd be there to help set up for the party.

We were also bringing all the alcohol. What's a party without alcohol? A little gathering?

Grayson gave him directions since the house was a little outside of the city. Reid hung up the phone and took a left turn. I watched his grip on the steering wheel as he nodded his head to the quiet music playing on the radio.

"Are you ready for the greatest party of your life?" He looked at me with a grin.

"Pffft okay." I rolled my eyes and chuckled, "sureee."

"Come on!" He chanted as he slapped his hand down on my thigh and rested it there. "Don't be a party pooper."

"Okay, okay." I smiled at him.

"You told your mom that you're staying at Allie's house this weekend, right?" He questioned me as he pulled his truck around a large curve.

"Yep. What'd you tell your mom?" I asked, wondering what lie he told to spend the weekend at this lake house.

"Oh she knows I'm gonna be there she just doesn't know you're going. She'd freak out if she knew we were going to be sleeping in the same bed." His words faded out after I heard what he'd just said. We're sleeping in the same bed? My thoughts distanced from where I was and I thought about it. It made me nervous and my leg started bouncing. I came back to reality to hear the last part of what he said.

"She just thinks it's me and Grayson and some other guys on our football team."

"Oh, okay." I smiled.

"Why are you bouncing your leg?" He asked as he lifted his hand slightly off my thigh.

"Oh, I don't know." I lied as I stared at my leg.

"You're lying, don't lie to me, darling." he smirked at me as he put his large hand back on my leg.

I didn't react to his horrid use of that nickname like I usually do, I just looked at him.

"I'm not lying, I guess it's just something I do with my leg." I uttered nonchalantly.

"You're lying again."

"How would you know?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Because you've never done that with your leg before." He stated as he refocused his attention back on the darkening road.

"Oh, so you're keeping tabs on my body language." I smiled at him.

He looked at me and opened his mouth to speak but no words came out.

"I just know that you're lying." He muttered as we pulled into the driveway of what I assumed was this lake house.

"I'm not!" I laughed.

He cut the engine and looked at me, grabbed my chin gently and forced my gaze towards him.

"I suggest you don't lie to me again, I don't like being lied to." He said softly before a smirk spread across his face. He released my face and hopped out of his truck, leaving me speechless in the passenger seat.

I opened the door quietly and slid out of the truck as Reid was pulling beer out of the backseat.

"Do you need help?" I uttered like an idiot.

"No I'm okay." he smiled at me as he carried cases of beer, "Grayson will get the rest. Just go on inside."

I complied and walked inside the house, immediately seeing how beautiful it was. The interior was made of wood which gave it a cabin like feel. It was a pretty big house but it still felt homey and comfortable.

Jasmine and Allie were sitting on the couch in the living room, giggling and talking. Grayson walked from the kitchen and through the living room, out to the front door.

"Hey Maeve." He said quickly as he walked past me.

"Oh, um, hi." I laughed.

"Maeve!" Allie yelled, "come here!" She waved her hand at me. I walked over to them and sat down on the crazy comfortable couches.

"It's Halloween!" Allie cheered.

"It is, have you already started drinking?" I questioned as I watched her expressions.

"That's not important." She waved her hand as she giggled.

I laughed as I looked at her.

"What are you and Reid dressing up as for Halloween? Cause Jasmine and Grayson are being a cop and a prisoner and it's going to be so cute and please please please tell me you guys have a cute couples costume." She rambled.

The only difference between drunk Allie and normal Allie was...well not much. She's always energetic and rambling.

"Oh I don't know, Reid said he picked them out."

"Pffft." Jasmine laughed out.

"What?" I looked at her.

"Nothing. Nothing." She hid her smile.

"Are you drinking too?" I asked her as I looked between them.

"A little teeny tiny bit."

I laughed as I rolled my eyes and looked at the time on my phone. It was a little past 7 and Reid walked in with Grayson, both of them holding a bunch of alcohol.

"Maeve." Reid said after he set down the drinks in the kitchen.

"Hm?"

"Can you help me get the bags from the car, please?"

"Oh yeah sure."

We had both brought bags with some clothes and shit with us. We grabbed it from the car and walked upstairs. Apparently Grayson had told him which room was ours. It had one queen sized bed, some other furniture and a bathroom inside the room.

He threw his bag on the bed and I did the same.

"So." He started. "You know how I picked out our outfits for Halloween."

"Yes..."

"Well here's your outfit!" He pulled it out of his bag and it was in a plastic bag that you'd find a party city costume in. "Go try it on."

I took it from his hand and walked to the bathroom, shutting and locking the door. I put on the costume and could not believe my eyes. I was basically wearing a slutty angel costume. I was wearing a white lace corset and a very very short white tutu. The corset was pushing my boobs up. The outfit was complete with white fishnet tights and angel wings.

I opened the bathroom door, looking furious as ever and glaring at Reid.

"Reid, I'm wearing lingerie!"

"Hardly." He shook his head with a smirk as he looked me up and down, clearly staring at my body.

"Oh yeah and what will you be wearing?" I said crossing my arms, and immediately uncrossing them after I realized it pushed my boobs together.

Reid smiled as he took off his shirt, exposing his hard abs. My eyes widened the longer I stared at his smooth and toned torso. He reached into his bag and pulled out a red T-shirt. He pulled it over his head and stretched it down his abdomen. Finally he grabbed a headband from his bag that had red devil horns on it. He slid the headband on and then looked up at me with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes and looked away from him.

"What? What's wrong angel?"

A stupid smile broke through on my face with that dumb nickname.

"This costume is ridiculous, Reid."

"Why's that? Hm?" He looked at me.

"My boobs are practically falling out of this top!" I yelled as I laughed at him.

He shook his head with furrowed eyebrows and looked at me, "what's wrong with that?"

I scoffed, "I'm serious, I can't wear this!"

He stood up and walked towards me, "you look great. Why don't we go ask Jasmine and Allie if you're so unsure?"

"Oh god." I sighed as he grabbed my wrist and started dragging me out of the room. We walked downstairs and Allie and Jasmine immediately stopped talking and turned to look at us.

"Holy shit, Maeve! You look hot!" Allie giggled.

"See!" Reid said lightly punching my shoulder.

I sighed and it slowly broke out into laughs.

Sadly, I decided to keep wearing it. Jasmine and Grayson changed into their costumes and Allie did too. People started showing up and the party picked up heavily. I was talking to some people while drinking a beer when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and saw Chase looking at me.

"Oh hi!" I smiled brightly as he greeted me.

"How've you been? I haven't seen you since your party." He said as I noticed the beer can in his hand.

"I've been good, what about you?" I smiled at him, as I turned my body more to face him. He was wearing a dark green sweater and jeans. His hair was messy and wavy, he looked a little less put together than when I first met him.

"I've been, um, good." He said awkwardly as I watched his gaze revert down to my chest and then back to my eyes. "Nice costume, by the way." He smiled.

I looked down at it and rolled my eyes, "Reid picked it out."

"Is that why you look like someone modeling Victoria Secret lingerie?" He chuckled before taking a sip of his drink.

"Yes, that's exactly why. Because men think with their dicks." I laughed.

"What's he dressed as?"

"A devil."

"That's very fitting."

"What? What's that supposed to mean?" I hit his arm and laughed.

"Well you seem pretty innocent and he's well, not." He pushed his hair back with his free hand.

"I'm not innocent! How would you even know that anyways? What happened to that whole thing you were saying last time, huh? Don't assume how someone is based on how they look?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

He chuckled while looking down at his feet and then bringing his gaze back up to me, "you were right last time with your assumption, am I right with mine?"

"No! You are not, I'm not innocent!" I protested.

"Yeah, yeah, so you're saying you've had sex before?"

Just the word made me uncomfortable.

"Well no."

"Hm, a blowjob?" He took a sip of his beer.

"...no." I reluctantly said.

"Ever gotten a hickey?"

"I have not." I blew it out in a breath.

"Christ, have you even made out with someone before, anything more than a quick peck?"

"Nope."

"Wow."

"Shut up." I slapped his arm hard and he pulled it away while laughing.

"So I was right then, you're innocent." Chase suggested as he took a step closer to me.

"I guess so." I rolled my eyes.

"So...you and Reid haven't even made out?

"No." I smiled sheepishly.

"That's surprising."

"Why?"

"He must really like you."

"What? Why?"

"Usually guys don't hold off on that stuff unless they are really into a girl. Considering he hasn't even touched a boob yet, he's got it bad."

I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at Chase, then I turned my gaze to Reid who was sitting on a couch next to a girl. He was glaring at me hard, with his jaw clenched and his hands folded in his lap. I looked back to Chase and laughed it off.

"I don't think he likes me that much." I shook my head with a smile.

"Oh, come on, Maeve!" Chase chuckled, "for a smart girl you can be pretty dense. I see the way he looks at you."

"How? What do you mean?"

"Like you're the only girl in the room."
