Lyra felt insanely pissed off as she switched her phone on to see the time for the 5th time that night, Peter hadn't arrived yet and time was ticking by. She waited with her mum and the Stacy's for him to show up, they hadn't even ordered any food yet. Yet after some time, Peter still hadn't arrived, they finally and gave up and decided to order. Gwen would be right next to Lyra the entire time, keeping a firm hand on the girl's shoulder to smooth her. Lyra was immensely grateful for this since if Gwen hadn't, she would probably have flipped a table by now. Not literally, but that's how frustrated she was.

Lyra ordered some food that she thought Peter would like, saving even some of hers for him, but it seemed to be getting later and the food wouldn't stay warm for very much longer. He was already late to the graduation and didn't even show up at her brothers funeral, at this point, Lyra thought about not taking his words too seriously anymore.

But then again, she couldn't blame him. He was New York's famous Spiderman, one that would be out every day and every night fighting crime, whether it be even the smallest thing, he would be there. Lyra would even gush and say she was proud of him, yet this time, she couldn't be more annoyed.

It seemed as if Peter had no time for her anymore. No time for anyone anymore. After that night at Oscorp, Peter seemed to make sure he was helping absolutely everyone in everything. Spider-Man would be seen 24/7, Lyra had deemed she had seen him as Spider-Man more than Peter Parker, which slightly worried her.

Lyra loved Peter, so much it was unhealthy. But since that night occurred, Peter felt as if he almost lost Queens, as if he betrayed it or something and deemed it was only fair he never let another thing happen to the city. It was almost depressing, to see Peter wake up with bruised patches and cut skin, be he always just shrugged it off with an 'I can't let the city down again'.

Lyra kept glancing out the window, twirling her noodles on her fork as she muttered to Gwen. Gwen seemed to be trying to pull Lyra into every conversation, which Lyra was grateful for, yet she admittedly wasn't paying attention at all. On a normal day, Lyra would talk forever on a subject, even switching it to some irrelevant topic when deemed necessary, but today was not one of those days.

Staring intensely at the clock, Lyra examined as the hands clicked and move as every second passed. As each minute flew by, Lyra couldn't help but let out a small sigh. Almost concluding that Peter wasn't coming, Lyra felt a nudge at her shoulders and sure Gwen gesturing to the window. Quickly lifting her hair, Lyra locked eyes with Peter, and she could almost sense the guilt he tried so hard to keep in. Julia had seen the encounter and couldn't help but shake her head, she saw the look in Peter's eyes, and it was as if she knew what was about to happen. But she couldn't interfere, Julia only nodded when Lyra pointed to Peter outside the window before letting her daughter rush outside in the cold air.

"Peter, what is it?" Lyra asks with a sigh as she walks over to stand in front of him. Now that she stood so close to him, she watched as his expression morphed into a pained and heartbreak type.

"Hey." He sighed.

"What's wrong?" Lyra asks with concern. "You don't look so good."

"I don't know what I'm doing." Peter sighed admittedly.

Lyra recognised the expression on his face and hers fell quickly. "It's my brother isn't it?"

"Yeh," He sighs, his eyes looking anywhere but hers. He needed to get this done and he knew if he took one look into her eyes, it would trash it all. "I see him everywhere I go, I can't- I don't know what to do and I just- I can't get him out of my head Lyra. I can't"

"We've spoken about this Peter, and we agreed on to-" Lyra started but got cut off.

"I know, Lyra. Trust me, I know." Peter sighs, facing his fears and now looking directly into her eyes, his softening. "I promised him that I would keep away from you, to keep you safe. And now I'm going to walk in there and have dinner with him and your family. How can I do that? What does this make me?"

"I don't know, you tell me, Peter. What does that make you?" Lyra said unconvincingly, moving her hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

"It makes me not able to live with myself," Peter answered, his voice cracking as tears welled up in hers as well. Peter quickly reached his hand out to wipe the tear that was running down her cheek, before restraining her before he could make contact, pulling back with a pained expression.

"I thought that it meant that you loved me." Lyra breathes out, bringing her own hand up to wipe the tear herself. She felt confusion, frustration, and heartbreak all at the same time. She felt overwhelmed and tired. And the only thing she wanted to do was escape from this time. Sleep and forget.

"I do love you," Peter says turning around to stand in front of the way. "I love you."

"So why is that not enough?" Lyra shrugged her shoulder, reducing the urge to let more teasers fall. "Please tell me, Peter."

"Because what if something happens to you just like what happened to him because of me? No." Peter cuts her off as he says his mouth fall open to speaking. Lyra felt like her heart sunk to the bottom of her stomach, again not literally, but she felt as if she was going through the same thing as last year when Peter first broke this off. She couldn't afford it to happen again, it had been bad enough once.

Lyra attempts to cut in, yet at the bottom of her heart, she knew it was no use.

"Wait, Wait, Wait." Peter cuts her off again, using his hand as a firmer instruction. "I cannot let that happen to you, I can't!"

"Listen to me, Peter." Lyra steps right in front of the boy, she could sense his pained heart from a mile away but it felt so real up close. "You're Spider-Man, and I love that. But I love Peter Parker more. Nothing you're going to want to do is going to make me run away from you or be afraid of you. You, Peter, are the boy I love and the last thing I want, is for Spider-Man to come in between us. Everything we've been through, Peter, means so much to me. You mean so much to me."

"I can't lose you too." Peter finally whispers, frowning deeply. Lyra knew he made the decision, and she had done her best to avoid it, but it seemed as if he wasn't going to back down now. "I can't, I'm sorry, Lyra."

"Wow, fine." Lyra finally sighs, tears now free-falling out of both their eyes. "I understand, but please let me do it this time. Maybe it will just make me feel a bit better since last time I was the one at the receiving end and-"

Lyra cut herself off, staring and the tears rolling down the boy's face. He had the biggest frown on his face as if his whole world was falling apart in front of him. But he hadn't stopped the girl from talking, so that made Lyra take a deep breath, stepping one more step closer so she was straight in front of him.

"I break up with you. I break up with you, Peter." Lyra finally says as she shook her head, furiously wiping her cheeks.

And with one last disappointed look, Lyra turns around and makes her way back into the restaurant, letting the doors close by the self. She could see out of the corner of her eyes, as Peter dropped to his knees, letting tears fall out of his eyes. She took her seat next to Gwen and shook her head, refusing to let any more tears fall. Gwen let her head fall, and she grabbed ahold of her best friends hand, squeezing it tightly. Julia watched as her daughter let her eyes wander around the place, trying hard to suppress a fake smile for the dinner. She felt as if she needed to be close to her daughter now more than ever, so she quickly excused her and Lyra from the table, sending their goodbyes before making their way towards the car.

Right before they step into their seats, Julia turned to Lyra and just gave her the biggest hug ever. She wrapped her long arms around her daughter's body and let the cry silently cry into her shoulder. She knew the feeling of a breakup, and right now, she needed to be there for her daughter no matter what.
