Chapter 41

"I DON'T want to go, Jay." Emma whines. I don't want her to go either but she has to. "Can I stay for a few more days?" She questions with big, round, doe eyes. If it was up to me I would keep her here with me forever but I know she is going to miss school and mom and dad would probably already be missing her.

"Emma," I gently call her. "I would love that too but you can't. Besides, you are going day after tomorrow. And I promise you lots of fun."

Maybe I can take Harry on that offer. Emma would love that. Liam is going out of the country for a one-day business trip today and we will be by ourselves all day. It will be a hard time convincing Liam.

"Okay. Fine." She huffs and strolls out of the room.

I can't lie to Liam about Harry's gig. It isn't fair for me to expect him to be honest with me when I can't be truthful to him.

I wait for him for a few minutes before going to his room. The amount of stress he has been taking lately worries me mainly because I have been the most prevalent reason.

Liam is sitting on the couch talking to someone on the phone when I peek in the room. He hangs up, looks at me and urges me to come to him.

"Is everything alright?" He asks as I take a seat on the sofa. Things have been really awkward since his confession. We haven't talked much since morning. It's all going backwards when in all honesty it should be moving forward.

"Yeah." I nod. I want to make it all better just like it was before. "Are you ok?" I ask him. For him to share so important part of his life with me was a big step for us but ever since that he is trying to dodge me and avoid a possible conversation.

He nods but his eyes say otherwise. I have to tell him about Harry's gig and then I have to confirm with Harry. "Umm..me and Emma.." He looks at me, waiting for me to continue. "We...We are going to Harry's gig." I breathe.

"What?" He shouts. I knew this wasn't a good idea but what is it with him if we go? "No, you are not." He scoffs.

"Liam, Emma wants to go to the gig, she loves Harry and she's leaving soon." I try to reason him. "We are going, Liam. Besides you are leaving for the trip in an hour." I state the obvious.

"You are not going and that is final." He declares, stands up from the couch and walks away. I follow him.

"I'm not asking you." I just want him to know that I am going. I want him to know that I am not doing this behind his back.

"You never do." He scoffs and leaves me standing in the middle of the room.

"Liam, please don't do this. It's just a small gig. We will be okay and I'll take Roney with us if you want." I chase after him.

"It's not that!" He rubs his temple. Then what is it? Is it Harry? "I don't want you anywhere near him." He breathes. "I don't trust him." There it is. He is more concerned about us seeing Harry than us going out alone.

"But you trust me?" I quiz. He reluctantly nods. "We will be ok. Besides he isn't as bad as you are making him look and we are even ready for Roney to accompany us. We will be back before you." His expression changes from a disinclination to irritation in a few seconds.

I stride to him and lift my hand to touch his face. He quickly dodges my hand. "I'm getting late." He angrily announces and scrambles into the bathroom.

"Liam," I call after him but he doesn't reply.

LIAM lifts Emma in his arms and her arms are wrap around his neck. "Bye, Lili. I'm gonna miss you." Emma whispers in his ears. She is such a drama queen. I have already told her he'll be back by the end of the day and yet she's teary.

He puts her down but makes no movement to come near me. I take that as my cue to walk to him and give him a hug. My hands instantly find their way to his neck. He hesitates at first but then returns it. I know he's still angry but he won't deny me in front of Emma.

"Be careful," I whisper into his neck. He nods and pulls away. I tip my head back, hoping to get a kiss but it never comes. Hell, he doesn't even look at me.

Emma waves at Liam as the elevator door closes.

Rest of the morning and the afternoon passes briskly. Soon, we start getting ready for the gig. I grab a pair of high waist jeans with a plain white top and grey denim jacket. I wear my hair down, apply light makeup and complete my look with black vans.

By the time Emma and I leave, it's already past six-thirty. Roney drives us to the address Harry sent me.

Emma screams as she sees Harry's poster outside the concert hall. She hugs me by my neck, almost choking me. "Oh my, God, Harry Styles' concert! Thank you so much, Jay. I love you. This is the best surprise ever!" She exclaims.

As told by Harry, I show the guard at the entrance his message. The man guides us to the front of the hall.

Emma bounces in her place non stop, super excited to see Harry perform. The crowd erupts when Harry comes on the stage and starts the show. His voice is angelic. The sound touches my heart. Harry makes quiet a few eye contacts with me during the show. He even makes a few terrible knock-knock jokes.

Towards the end of the show, everyone is restless. Especially, Emma. I'll have to give her syrup for I'm sure she is going to have scratchy neck tomorrow. "Thank you, everyone, for coming. I'd like to dedicate this last song to someone special to me. It hasn't been long since she came into my life. It's her first time at my show." He says and for that moment my heartbeat rises. The crowd breaks into awws.

Who is he talking about? And why do I feel like he is talking about me? No, no he isn't.

"My biggest fan, right here, Emma!" He shouts into the mic. The spotlight drops on Emma. She shyly smiles at Harry as he steps forward to take her hand. The crowd flares up.

He serenades her. Throughout the song, Emma sings all along with Harry making everyone laugh. She gives me a wide eyed smile from above the stage. "Give a round of applause to Emma." He says and walks off with her.

A guard comes to me and asks me to follow him to Harry's dressing room. Emma is sitting on the couch with a bag of chips in her hand when I open the door.

"Oh my gosh, it was so amazing, Jane." She hops into my arms. "It was so dreamy. Having my crush serenade me!" She shrieks. I laugh at her mien.

"I loved singing for you too." A voice utters from behind us. "How are you, Jane? Did you enjoy the show?" He asks. Emma slides from my arms and strolls to the couch.

"I'm good. The show was really great." I smile at him. "Your vocals are really amazing." Even though his music is not my favourite genre I enjoyed the show.

"I'm glad." He grins. "How does a dinner sound?" He runs his hand through his hair and ruffles them.

Before Emma agrees to it, I speak up. "No, I'm sorry, we already have plans," I speak too fast. He narrows his eyes at me. Shit, I already told him Liam was out of town.

"But you told Liam was out for business." He calls me out. I catch Emma giving me a smug grin from across the room and give her the biggest deadpan look.

"I...We...have―" I stutter before Emma cuts me off. God, I can't lie worth a damn. What the hell is wrong with me? I should have kept my mouth shut.

"We have plans with Andy and Jack," Emma informs him. He nods understandingly.

"Well, at least you both can stay for a drink?" He negotiates.

"No, Harry. I'm still very small for drinking. I think I'll pass, but you and Jay can." She continues to nibble on the chips. Harry laughs at her smartass response.

After a glass of wine, Emma and I bid goodbye to Harry.

By the time, Emma and I complete our late dinner it's half-past ten. I put Emma in the bed and tuck her in. After she is fast asleep, I sneak into Liam's room and change my shirt with one of Liam's.

He isn't back yet. I plop on his bed waiting for him. The gig was really tiring. I rub my eyes and yawn a few times before finding a comfortable position on the bed. My eyes start getting heavier.

When I flicker my eyes open, the room is very dark. I grab my phone from the nightstand to check the time. It's already quarter past two and Liam isn't home yet?

I look around the room. A figure on the far corner of the room catches my eye. I squint my eyes to get a better vision. Liam is slouched across the couch. One of his hand is dangling over the side and the other one is somewhere above his figure.

Why would he not sleep on the bed with me? Is he still angry? Obviously, he is. Ugh. I want him to lay with me. There has to be a way.

I grab the silk sheets from the bed and walk over to the couch. There isn't much space on the couch for two people but I'll manage. I gently push Liam to make some space for me. He whines but moves over. I climb the couch, place my head on Liam's arm and scooch close to him to prevent me from falling. I pull the sheet over us and wiggle in the place to create some place for me but almost lose my balance. Liam's arm securely wraps around me, keeping me from falling.

Is he awake? Is he pretending to sleep? "Liam," I whisper near his ear. He doesn't respond. Maybe he subconsciously grabbed me. I call him one more time to check if he is playing but his breathing remains calm. I mentally shrug and nuzzle Liam's neck. I wrap my arms around him, kiss his neck a few times before letting sleep take over me.

I groan as the morning light hits my face. Liam is spooning me from behind and his hands are wound around me. I turn in his embrace to escape the light and peer at his beautiful face. I smile to myself, content with the feeling of waking up in his arms and gently press my lips to his.

His eyes open at the contact and he slightly pulls back. "Good morning." I give him a sleepy smile.

"Good morning." I love his raspy morning voice. He smiles but moves to get out of the couch.

"Where are you going?" I clasp his hand in mine and pull him back to the couch. He tries to move away but I hold him firmly.

"To the bathroom." He says but avoids eye contact with me. "If you'll excuse me," He again tries to pull away but I don't let him.

"You are still angry with me," I whisper. He doesn't deny it nor does he look at me. "Liam." I frame his face, tilt it to look in his eyes and when he still doesn't respond I bite my lip from trembling and pull away. He seems to notice it.

His eyes stare at my lips. His hands follow. He pinches my bottom lip between his fingers and pulls at them. I unintendedly poke my tongue out to lick my lips. That breaks Liam from his daze and he pulls away. I whimper at the loss of contact.

Before he can say anything I crash my lips against his. He groans at the contact but kisses back with the same force. The kiss is deep, passionate as we try to put all emotions in a single kiss.

"I hate fighting with you. I hate that you never listen to me. You are the most stubborn girl I have ever known." He speaks between kisses. "You always defy me, you grate on my nerves, you always seem to find ways to piss me off." He scolds against my neck and all I can do is writhe under him. "You are borderline intolerable." A moan leaves my lips as he sucks below my ear. "But with that being said, I happen to care about you very much." I thread my fingers through his head to hold his head in place. He shakes his head and removes my hand from its place. He pushes me back on the couch and straddles me. I shudder under him.

"Please." I mewl. God, I want him now. I don't care if Emma is in the other room.

"What do you want?" He smirks against my skin.

"You. I want you, please." I pant. His movements suddenly stop and he gives me a shocked look. I smile at his expression. He nods and brings his mouth to mine. He gently lifts me off the couch and carries me to the bed without breaking the kiss.

He lays me on the bed hurriedly and pulls his mouth away just long enough to yank his shirt off my head. The sunlight hit his face but that doesn't bother him. He is too busy getting me undressed. I pull his head down to kiss him and fumble with his pants.

The door creeks open making me gasp. "Oh my God!" I pant.
