Chapter XXXIII: While you were in a Coma

Satoru laid on the hospital bed with (Y/N), his head resting on her chest, as she ran his fingers through her locks. He was still in utter disbelief that she was finally awake, tightening his grasp on her waist. She hummed a piece that he wasn't familiar with, but it was enough to lull him back to sleep. At least until she stopped humming, Satoru shifted his gaze upwards to take a peek of her face. She was looking outside of the hospital window, her face was completely relaxed.

"What happened.. While I was in a coma, Sato?" His eyes widened at the million dollar question that was presented in front of him, gulping down the lump that formed in his throat. A soft sigh escape escaped his lips, before he sat up to get a better look at her face. "Shoko told us, the students, everyone that you were still alive.." He paused, observing her facial expressions, the slight raise of both of her eyebrows, her mouth agape. "You should've woken up.. But you wouldn't." His mind went back to the memory of Shoko telling them all of your situation, shortly after you were hospitalized. Itadori and Todou were the ones that found you laying unconscious on that tree bark, they were also the ones that brought you straight to Shoko.

Shoko took a deep breath in, eyeing every single of them that was around (Y/N)'s hospital bed. Both the Kyoto students and the Tokyo students were present, the only ones that weren't were Mei Mei, Yaga and Gakuganji. Nanami even stayed to hear about your situation, but left shortly after, because he had another mission assigned to him. "Now that everyone's here, (Y/N) is fine. I wanted to get that out of the way, especially those who acted out irrationally after (Y/N) fell into a coma." She paused, eyeing a certain sapphire orbed man who was wearing his blindfold, hesitant to speak of the next few words.

"She's suppose to.. She's suppose to already have woken up, but, it seems that she doesn't want to."

The brunette haired woman twirled her hair with her index finger and thumb, "Her brain is active, it's working as if she were living a life inside of her head." There were a couple of soft gasps that erupted throughout the room, some with their eyes widening slightly. "Either she doesn't want to wake up, or something in there isn't allowing her to wake up." She eyed the sapphire orbed man once more, who now had his fists clenched on his lap. While the other students, specifically the Tokyo students had their eyebrows furrowed, frustrated with the predicament they're now facing.

"What can we do, Ieiri-san?" Noritoshi Kamo asked, which made the woman turn her attention to the man who had his eyes closed. "There isn't an exact solution, nor can we forcefully wake her up. The only thing we can do is, we have to wait and see." The Kyoto students nodded, while the Tokyo students were still in shock, all of them staring at their precious teacher. "That's all the information I have for all of you, this situation is unprecedented. Therefore, we can all only hope for the best." She nodded to the students and dismissed them, telling them that they're all free to go.

There were a couple of students who had gifts in their hands, Noritoshi brought some lilies for her and a get well card. While Miwa, along with the two other girls brought some chocolates for the raven haired woman. Mechamaru nor Todou weren't exactly sure what to give her, so they decided to get her an assortment of flowers, as well. The Tokyo Students brought her, her favorite things as well. They all sat their gifts by her bedside tables, some on her bed, specifically the plushies. The three first year Tokyo students gave their teacher a huge 'get well soon' card, that not only had their well wishes inside, along with the other Tokyo students, but pictures that they've taken throughout the past couple of months.

"(Y/N).. Kelp.."

Toge brought a plush toy that was special to him, it was a plush toy she gave him a long time ago. (Y/N) gave him the toy as a comfort gift when he got extremely sick and bedridden, telling the young purple orbed boy, "Hold this tightly unto your chest, and just like magic, you'll get better!" He still remembered her gentle smile, that reminded him of the sun. Now all he saw was a limp woman laying on the hospital bed, all source of life drained from her face.

The students from both schools gave her well wishes, before heading out, leaving only Utahime and Gojo in the room. "You alright, Gojo?" Utahime asked, as she pulled a chair by his side. The young man didn't respond, and only stared blankly at the woman laying on the bed. "She'll be okay. (Y/N) always pulls through, she's been through a lot worse." But the young man didn't respond to her, his focus not once getting averted away from the young woman on the hospital bed. She sighed, giving up trying to talk to the man. Utahime stared at the young girl, knowing full well she didn't deserve to be laying there, but accidents happen- no one expected for this to occur.

Eventually, Utahime stood up and gave the sapphire orbed man a pat in the back, before leaving the room. Satoru reached his hand up and removed the blindfold off his eyes, his bangs falling right above his eyes. He put both his elbows on his knees, as he put his head down and put his hands on his face. He felt frustrated, his mind being bombarded with the thoughts of who he wanted to kill. He wanted to kill that cursed spirit that did this to you, he wanted to make the suffer the most horrible death that they could've imagine. If only he knew, if only he knew who did this to you.

Reaching for your hand to hold, the hospital room slid open shortly after Utahime left, revealing Shoko. "Can I talk to you, Satoru?" The man spoke of no words, only nodding his head, his focus never once averting away from the raven haired woman laying on the bed. "It's about the baby.." She started and paused, when he noticed that Satoru's breath hitched. "I'm sorry.. For your lost and (Y/N)'s as well.. But the baby.." She paused once more, as she noticed that the atmosphere in the air became heavy.

"The first trimester is the trickiest Satoru.. And well, I'm guessing with the bruising on her stomach- she took a direct hit.." The man in front of her grit his teeth tightly, as his jaw clenched revealing the veins on his neck and his eyes narrowing into thin slits upon hearing her words. "The baby didn't survive. Her body tried coping with it, even trying to save the child- but it prioritized her safety." He sighed deeply, ""I'm glad it did." He spoke with no hesitation, which caused for Shoko's eyes to widen.

The man looked down at his hand that was intertwined with (Y/N)'s, "I wouldn't know what to do Shoko.. If I lost her." He chuckled bitterly, realizing that if (Y/N) heard the next few words that came out of his mouth, she might just hate him forever. "I'd rather lose the baby, than lose her, Shoko." His lower lip quivered, tears threatening to spill. In another circumstance, no, he wouldn't have wanted to lose either of them. But, this was the best scenario that could've occurred.

If he lost her, then all hell will be set loose.

"This may sound cold, but you're not wrong, as a Doctor- the two of you can try again. But as your friend, and her friend.. I know you're affected by this as well, even when you're trying to look strong right now. But, (Y/N).. I don't know, Satoru.." He frowned, of course he was affected by it.  He lost his child, not only his, but it was (Y/N)'s child as well. Sure, the child's barely formed- but the baby that was growing in her stomach would've been their first child together. He was so excited to become a father, hoping that it'd be a tiny (Y/N), so that he could love her as much as he loves his lover. But now, the child was no more.

It hurt and he hated the feeling that he wasn't able to do anything about it, the fact that he's so helpless about this whole situation. Their precious baby that he was looking forward to meeting, was no longer in her stomach. But he still had his lover here, at least his lover was still here, breathing, even if she struggled to live. Shoko took this as her queue and left the man to contemplate on his thoughts by himself, she gave the same pat Utahime gave the man and left the room as well.

"Wake up soon, okay? Please wake up soon, we have a lot to talk about, (Y/N)."

(Y/N) stared at her stomach, realizing that their child no longer resided in there- and it was her fault. She felt sadness overwhelm her, to the point she started sobbing. Satoru's eyes widened, as he wrapped his arms around her quickly, shushing her. "It's okay.. It'll be okay, (Y/N).." He cooed quietly against her ear, as he ran his hand through her hair. She started hiccuping, struggling to form a proper sentence. "A.. A-re you ma..d.. at me.." She sniffed, as Satoru pulled away from the tight hug he gave her.

He smiled softly at her, reaching both his hands up to caress her cheeks, while wiping the tears away from her cheeks and any other tears that were tempted to spill out from her eyes. "I could never be mad at you, ever." He put his forehead against hers, his hands still cupping her face. "I'm not mad.. (Y/N).. All that matters is that you're still here.. You're here and that's what matters." He gently gave her gentle butterfly kisses all over her face, until her sniffling slowly came to a halt. When she eventually stopped sobbing, still feeling that tug on her heart, Satoru gave her a smirk. Furrowing her eyebrows together, "What is it, Satoru..?" She sniffled, her heart still aching.

"We can always try again, (Y/N)."
