Till Death Do Us Apart

I dug a hole in the ground under the large willow tree a few yards behind the house. We managed to get back in a few days.

I placed the shovel down and turned to Aura's body. I wrapped her in a white blanket. I picked her up and placed her in the grave I dug. I heard Vesemir sigh. "We should say a few words. I can go first." I nodded. "Aura. I may not have known you as well as I would have wanted, but I could tell from the beginning that you were special. You made Geralt the happiest man in the world. You left too soon."

"I'll go." Yennefer said. "It would've been great to meet you Aura, but I felt that I already knew you. Geralt told us so much about you. All good things, I promise. Anyway, Aura you are a beautiful person, inside and out. May you rest in peace."

Triss spoke next. "Like Vesemir said, I wish I could've known you better. Whenever Geralt spoke of you there was always a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face. You made him happy and you left us too soon. I wish you to find peace."

They all turned to me as I stared at Aura with an emotionless expression, but then a tear fell from my eyes as I fell to my knees. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. This was all my fault. I did this to you. Aura, you brought a light into my life. Gave me something to fight and love for. I love you Aura, I love you so much. And I will love only you."

I felt a hand in my shoulder and looked up to see Vesemir. I stood and wiped away the tears. I picked up the shovel and pushed the dirt back in the grave. Aura slowly disappeared behind the dirt. When I was finished I heard Triss speak. "Want me to make a gravestone? I know a spell-"

"No!" I cut her off. "No magic. She deserves a traditional burial."

Triss nodded. They all left to give me some space. I saw three thin stones and decided to stack them in a triangle shape for a gravestone. I sighed as I placed a white rose on the top stone.

"I love you Aura."

Then, I walked away.
