Chapter 9. Unexpected.

Dave directly stared at the gardener, frightened by the question. "What- when did you notice that.." he asked. Jack looked up at the prince, "I saw you looking from the window, one of your sleeves were rolled up." Jack soon answered with. Dave stepped back a 'bit', almost trotting onto the flowers that lay before him. He let out a big sigh, looking up at the gardener. "It was a long time ago." the prince answered with, rolling up one of his silk sleeves, revealing the scar that ran across his aubergine arm. Jack flinched at the sight of it, looking up at Dave. The look of discomfort shattered into Daves eyes. The gardener sighed loudly, soon to be looking at the ground.

Dave had zoomed out of there quickly, the scar were his biggest insecurity implanted onto his weak body. He sighed and skipped through dinner, not wanting to deal contact with his father. He laid still, on his bright-red, silk duvet, looking up at the buttermilk colored ceiling above him.

"William!

Dave turned his head around to his wooden, bedroom door and peered down at the golden door knob that turned it's way open. Eugh- the king slowly walked in. This wasn't something Dave expected as- Henry didn't even care for his own son whatsoever. Henry walked towards Dave as Dave swiftly shot up from his 'nap' and stared right into his fathers beaming eyes, "William." his father spoke as Dave nodded. Henry stepped back a bit, giving Dave his personal space back, "Not to bother you but. We're going to need new guards. I'd like you to go out there and bring at least 3 people to me." Henry loudly spoke, turning to the polished wooden door that sat behind him. Dave were brightly shocked, this was one of the first times that his father had interacted with him. He were speechless but had nodded to what the king had to say. Soon enough, the king left Dave be and returned to his golden throne that sat among the blunt servants who served the king beyond day 1. Dave rubbed his tired eyes and stared at the antique window in his bedroom, but- 'why is father making ME do this rather than another being..' ran in Dave's mind.
