Chapter 6 : Home Sweet Home

There were many eyes on us as we descended the steps of the palace. Other vampires had stopped what they were doing to watch us walk back to the vehicle waiting for us.

The looks on everyones face was puzzled and curious. Some of them were even confused. I was starting to see how bad it situation had become. It was easy to tell now.

People would only look at us that way if it wasnt normal which meant the King having a pet wasnt normal. Were we his first?

You would think that a King had many maids and butlers running about his house maybe even slaves. It turned out that was not the case. He had no one to work with him in his manner. It was just Leon and I.

We were directed into the back of a shiny black car. The back where we sat was secluded from the rest of the car, just a box in the back. There was no windows. No light. Just a black box.

Once the door was shut, Leon pulled me into his arms and leaned back into the far corner of the small space. "You saw it too, didn't you?" He asked quietly.

The way they were looking at us, I thought.  Yea I saw it too.

Leon was quick to read my thoughts. "This is bad Ezra. Worse then I thought. I don't trust that Nixon. There's something off about him."

I nodded against his chest and closed my eyes, putting myself in even more darkness then before. It didnt matter if my eyes were open or not, everything was still black either way.

How bad do you think it is? I asked after a few moments of silence.

"I don't know. I really don't." He whispered back to me with a soft caress against my cheek. "Just do as they say. As long as we listen to them everything should be alright."

The long journey to the King's manner felt longer then it should. Without anything to watch or anything to do, all you could do was count down the minutes and seconds till the door opened and let us out of this small space.

My mind didn't stray very far except for thinking about what might happen once we reached our new home. It would be less of a home and more of a prison but it was the only thing we would be granted. It was that or death.

When the time finally came for the doors to open, I winced as the bright light from outside filled my vision. Being left in darkness for so long left me blind now that there was light.

"Come now." Kain's voice called out. "Come see your new home."

Leon stood up, once again taking me with him. He led the way as he stepped out of the box and onto the grass of Kain's yard.

The mansion standing infront of us was huge. Large pillars rose evenly along the edge of the building. There was marble and quarts dancing over the walls. Shiny Windows staring back at us. I had never seen something so magnificent before.

Nixon gestured for Leon and I to follow him inside and we did. The main room was even better then the outside.

There was a crystal chandelier and a grand staircase leading upstairs. The railings and the archways all had gold accents engraved into them. Just like the windows outside, shiny marble floors.

Kain closed the door and smiled to himself, his eyes flickering down before returning to us again. His grin widened as he spoke. "Now, Time to show you to where you will be staying and your places in this house."

Leon stiffened beside me but nodded, speaking quietly. "Yes, Master."

The name sent shivers through my body. That name would be the only thing we could say. No names. Just Master. Something in me didn't agree with it. Something in me wasn't prepared to do this.

After everything that happened, after all that time in the palace I wasn't ready. Something in me wanted to fight it. Right for my kind but that wasnt what I was taught. I was taught to follow and obey. Thats not what my heart was telling me to do. What my soul was telling me to do.

Kain snapped his fingers in front of my face. "Tell me what I just said." He demanded, his blue eyes now a crimson red.

I froze. How was I supposed to answer? My voice was still healing. I could still feel the swelling in my throat.

"Well," He started. "I'm waiting."

That was when I realised the trap we had fallen into. False security. This man wasn't what he was said to be. Not even close to the dream we were told.

"I see." Kain said when I didn't answer. "Not even here for ten minutes and you've already earned a night in the basement." He stated.

My eyes widened and I looked around for Leon. He wasnt even standing there anymore and neither was Nixon. Had I really been that deep into my own thoughts that I didn't realise my mate had left?

"Such a shame." Kain commented, twirling a strand of my hair between his fingers. "I thought you would make such an obedient pet. It turns out I will have to teach you a few things after all now won't I?" He smiled at me. "But that can wait. For now, follow me Love." Kain tunred and started through the halls of the manner.

I stated after him a little confused before quickly coming out of it and following after him.

Did that just happen? He was all ready to kill me and now he's acting like he was before. Or maybe he was getting ready for the right moment. Thats probably what it was. He was waiting for the right moment.

It made sense though. The King of Vampires prying on an unsuspecting Neko. His own pet. There would be 'lessons' of course to show both Leon and Me how things should be done. Hopefully he wouldnt take It too far though.

Kain lead me into the kitchen which was just as large as all of the other rooms in this place. Large marble counter in the middle of the room, quartz cupboards. They were dyed a dark shade of blue just like the King's eyes. It really was a beautiful sigh to see.

"Can I get you anything?" He asked. "Some water? Maybe coke? Milk? Anything you won't and I'll get it for you." He finished with a soft smile, his eyes returning to dark blue.

I thought about it for a moment before holding up one finger, indicating to his first option.

Kain's actions were really confusing. It made zero sense as to why he would offer to get his pet something to drink. If anything it should be the other way around, Me offering him a drink.

"Coming right up." He spoke cheerfully before moving swiftly to the fridge in the corner of the kitchen.

I watched him carefully from where I stood on the other side of the marble island. This had to be another trick. Another trap. It only made sense. He would never stop trying to trick Leon and me. Thats just the type of person he was. There was no reason for him to be fair to us. He could do anything he wanted to and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Kain lingered by the far cupboard. A quick glance over his shoulder showed me a collection of different bottles of different sizes and colours. It was alarming both because I didn't know what they were and the fact that he was even in the cupboard at all.

"You must be thirsty." He said softly, Seeming to appear out of nowhere beside me, the glass of water now sitting on the island in front of me.

I nodded and looked down at the glass there. The glass itself was tall and slender, small beads of water running down the outside of the glass. I guess it really was cold and it did look refreshing but could I trust it?

One thought back to the cupboard of bottles brought me back to reality. The glass was probably tainted with something. Really it made sense to pour something into the glass. Make me vulnerable to anything and everything.

"Why don't you just take a seat?" He purred softly. "Just sit down and relax for now." His voice trailed off for a moment.

Slowly I moved to sit on the stool closest to me, Still looking down at the glass on the island. It looked good but there was no way to know for sure.

Kain tilted his head and scanned his eyes over my neck, studying whatever was there. After a few moments he spoke again. "Your neck doesn't look to bad. It'll probably be healed later tomorrow. It looks that way."

I nodded once more and flashed him a small smile, my ears pulling back slightly, my tail wrapping around my leg from beneath the skirt I was given at the palace.

"You know," He continued. "Your name is much like the one of that goddess from long ago. Ezarra? Wasn't that the young girl's name? I'm pretty sure that was it. And  your name happens to be Ezra. So close they are and so beautiful too." He smiled once more, his fangs showing from beneath his upper lip.

My eyes stayed locked on the glass as my hand hesitantly reached for it. It had been so long since I had fresh water. Cold and refreshing water. It sat right there in front of me.

I picked up the glass and pressed it to my lips, taking a long sip. The water felt good as I drank it, drinking almost the whole glass.

Kain smiled brighter and gently pet my head, scratching my ears. "Good girl. Good girl." He praised.

My tail tightened around my leg as I took the last sip of water from the glass. Something was off but I didnt know what it was yet. Deep down I knew though. Something wasn't right.

"In sure you'll come to like it here." Main continued to speak, still petting the top of my head. "Leon's role is different from yours. He'll be the butler and You, well you get to be my pet."

My eyes widened and I went go stand but everything started to sway and swirl together. I was right. I shouldnt have taken that glass. It was tainted.

"Shh.." He said softly as a small shine escaped my lips. "Don't worry, Love. You'll be comfortable in no time. Don't try to fight it and you'll be alright." Kain had moved to stand behind me, his arms on either side of my body as if I would fall.

My ears flattened against my head, my hands gripping the edge of the counter. Soon enough the darkness washed over my vision, everything fading out afterward.
