Chapter 3

Ana's eyes fluttered open. She rolled over, stretching and hit someone in the face. She turned her head to see Finn.

"Why are you here?" she asked, playfully swatting him.

"Good morning to you too," he said sassily, "I got lonely and I needed a buddy."

They lay quietly for a couple of minutes until six small bodies launched themselves on top of Finn and Ana. Ana looked out the door to see Carella, Sera and Jean laughing their heads off. The kids got off the bed and Jean gave them each a high-five.

"Get already, we've been waiting for ages," Carella said dramatically.

"Be there in a minute," Finn said jogging off to his room.

Ana rolled out of bed and took a quick shower. She slipped on a dress with a floral bandeau-type top and salmon coloured lace skirt with a pair of white flats. She then french braided part of her hair across the top of her head and curled the rest. Once she was ready she dressed the twins. She put Sapphire in a dress that was navy and white striped to the waist and had a white tutu at the bottom. She put Hunter in a navy blue t-shirt and white overalls. After putting on a little make-up, as well as letting Sapphire put lip gloss on upon her insist and pulling Sapphire's hair back into two pigtails, she headed downstairs, one twin on either hip.

She strolled into the kitchen and sat both of them down in their chairs. Grabbing three plates of waffles, she sat down with the twin and ate.

"Guess where we're going today?" Finn asked the kids.

He got shrugs all around, "THE CIRCUFAIR!!!" he screamed and the toddlers cheered.

After breakfast, they packed diaper bags and piled into their cars. The whole while they were driving, Sapphire, Aiden, Hunter, and Trey were singing along to the Veggie Tales 'Hairbrush Song', so by the time they arrived, Ana was desperate to get out of the car.

The twins insisted on walking, so she grabbed both of them by the hands and followed the rest towards the entrance. Finn, being the gentleman he was, insisted on paying for all three of their tickets. He paid the man and they agreed to split in two, Finn, Ana, and both sets of twins in one group and Jean, Zaira, Carella, Sera, and Cassiopeia in the other.

"Where to first?" Ana asked Finn. The twins pulled on Ana and Finn's arms in the direction of the cotton candy.

"I guess that answers the question," Finn said, pulling a couple twenty-dollar bills out of his back pocket. He bought four cotton candies, one for each kid and they got in line for the ferris wheel.

After a couple of hours, the twins were over their sugar highs and had fallen asleep in Finn and Ana's arms. Finn managed to send Jean a text saying that they were going to head out early and they walked back to the car.

---

"Hey Finn, we never got the casework so we can work from home," Ana said after putting the twins down for their naps, "How about we ask Adélie if she can babysit for a while."

"Sure I'll go ask her, meet you in the car," he replied, heading down the stairs. He wandered into the living room where Adélie sat doing a crossword.

"Adélie, do you mind babysitting for a couple of hours? The twins are napping, so they might not even be up before we get back," he asked.

"Certainement, mon cher," she replied enthusiastically.

Finn thanked her and headed out to the car where Ana had been waiting.

After about ten minutes of driving they pulled into the parking lot of the headquarters. After showing their I.Ds to the security guard, they made their way up to their offices. Finn grabbed her hand as the walked down the long hallway, their offices at the end of it. A man in a grey suit turned the corner at the opposite end of the hall and began walking in their direction.

"Scott?" Finn asked, recognizing the man's face.

"Ana! Finn! It's been so long since last saw you guys, you've grown up so much!" he gushed, "Are the babies excited for training, I'm not sure how hard I should go on them."

"They're pumped," Finn replied, "But I don't think you should go as hard as you did on us the first day, they're only three."

They chatted for a little while longer, then continued on to the offices. Finn unlocked the door and turned on the lights. It was just like their first offices back at home and always made her feel homesick. Even though Mr. Askins had said her parents were needed back at home, she still missed them all the same.

On the coffee table sat five thick files, one for each of them to work on. Not wanting to keep Adélie waiting, they quickly grabbed the files, locked up, and headed home.

At the house, Adélie had a big pot of chilli ready on the stove. The others had long since returned and were seated around the dining room table, having been waiting for Ana and Finn to arrive.

"Sorry we took so long," Ana said, "We ran into Scott along the way."

Finn set the files on the counter and sat down to a warm bowl of Adélie's chilli.

---

After they had finished the meal and the kids were sent off to bed, the teens, Adélie and François sat around the living room with mugs of tea and coffee in hand.

Adélie spoke up, "I got a call from Scott today, he said that it would be best if the kids all got routine physicals before they start training. You could bring them into the S.S.A. clinic tomorrow so I can do it before Monday," she suggested.

"Sure, how does after lunch sound?" Carella said.

"Perfect, I'll book them all right now," she replied, getting up to call the clinic.

Beginning to be a little drowsy, Ana soon climbed up to her own room, slipped on a summer floral print onesie and crawled into her warm bed.

Hey guys, sorry this chapter is so boring, but we all need filler chapters. I promise it will get better.
