Chapter 7

I don't own anything, just the OCs that may appear.

[P.O.V. Shizuka]

"Is this the place, Koneko-chan?" I asked as I stared at the pricy hotel building in front of me.

"Yes, Shizuka-senpai. This is where he lives." Koneko-chan confirmed while nodding.

I guess being the leader of a faction has it's perks, huh.

But there is something that bothers me, so I went and asked. "Say, Koneko-chan. You do know where he lives and you didn't tell Rias-senpai, why?"

Koneko then responds. "Of course I told her about him. Even both of them had a meeting where they agreed to not interfere with one another."

Huh...? Was that a thing in the canon DxD? Because this is the first time I'm hearing about it. It is that the reason of why Rias doesn't do anything about the Fallen Angels, since they still could be acting under Azazel's orders?

Anyway. As I was about to enter the building, I felt that Koneko-chan grabbed the sleeve of my uniform.

"Please be careful..." It is what she told me while making a worried look on her cute face.

I patted her head while smilinf and said. "Don't worry. I will be careful, go back to Rias-senpai, she will start get suspicious if you keep hanging around me, also promise me that you won't tell her about this."

She blushed a bit and answered. "I understand... Since this is part of your agreement between you and buchou, there's no need for me to inform her about this. I will take my leave now, senpai..."

It is the last what I heard of Koneko-chan as she began to walk away towards her home.

I sighed as I said on my mind. "I'm sorry, Koneko-chan..."

For what I'm sorry for, is the fact that I had put Koneko-chan in a tight situation with Rias-senpai since she acted without being ordered to.

I will make up to her by buying her an cake the next time we see each other.

After I entered the building, I checked on the number given to me by Koneko-chan.

I touched the doorbell after finally finding the place, and I heard from behind the door. "Come in."

It is the moment of truth.

[An hour later]

"So, what does the girl who killed Kalawarna wants? I'm sure that it's not an apology, right?" It is what the old man in front of me, Azazel, asks me.

We chatted, drinked, and played some games together. And now that we were done, he got into business.

"If I did that, then how would you even know that?" I asked, a little confused about the how he is sure that I was the one who killed Kalawarna. Since I was still using Izou's card until I arrived at my home.

"Hahaha! Don't you think you're underestimating me, Shizuka-chan?" It is what Azazel says while he drinked his cofee. "I had a friend who followed you to your home."

.
..
...
....

Wait, WHAT!?

He has to be lying, there's no way that someone in this world was capable enough to detect an Assassin's Presence Concealment!

Unless...

"Is that friend of yours..." I was about to ask, until Azazel raised his hand.

And then he says. "Yup. I know everything from my friend about those interesting cards which contains the souls of heroes of legends and history, and he used his 'Caster' card to detect your 'Assassin' form."

.
..
...
....

WHHHAAAAAAAAT!!??

N-No way! That cannot be true, there's another Class Card user besides me!?

"W-Who is that friend of yours?" I try to ask him, so I could know whoever was the one who provided Azazel with that information.

"Sorry, Shizuka-chan. He told me that you would need to wait for the right time to meet him." Azazel, with a sly smirk, says.

Damn... so much for secrecy. If Azazel is so daring as to call that mysterious user his 'friend' then it means that he must have been around this world, and into the supernatural side, for a longer time than me.

But... Did that friend really exposed the Class Cards to the supernatural factions of this world?

"If you're thinking about him exposing that neat trick of his to the rest of the factions, don't worry, he warned me that should I ever say anything about it, my memories will be erased, in a harsh manner I mean." Azazel says with an uncomfortable smirk, as if he's remembering a painful memory.

That's good though. I do not really care about the supernatural factions learning about Heroic Spirits, I mean, I am not an paranoic bitch like those fanfic protagonists who always goes to the extremes, or even edgy or violent, when it comes to keep their secrets.

But I was afraid that there could be dire consequences should the Class Cards be distributed, it would be more problematic if people with bad intentions were to get their hands on those.

There's no point in keep pressing for the answer about that 'friend' of Azazel, I came here for a different reason, so I began saying. "I will get to the point now. One of your subordinates is maybe acting behind your back."

I noticed that the playful visage of Azazel was gone and now was replaced with a serious one and asked. "What makes you say that?"

"You understimate my ways of gathering info. Your subordinate, Raynare, is not only going around having her like-minded goons to go around killing potential Sacred Gear users, she's also gathering an unusual amount of Stray Priests in the abandoned church." I while what I said comes from what I know from the anime, I scouted the area using my Assassin class card to see their numbers.

Azazel seemed in deep thoughts for a few seconds before sighing. "(Sigh)... Raynare-chan, huh... Man... I didn't think she had it on her. She was such an good and obedient child when she first came under my command after her banishment from Heaven. But she always seemed like she wanted more. I should have seen this coming."

"You believe me?" I asked about the how easily he seemed to believe my words.

"I had my suspicion. Once I sent her into that job of gathering Sacred Gear users, she never reported back again. At first I had thought that she required more time, but what you just said now makes more sense of the why she never reported to me again." Azazel says, admiting that he did indeed sent Raynare to gather Sacred Gear users, only for her to bail out and never come back.

"Don't mind if I ask, but what Raynare used to be like when she first came under your command?" I asked him about Raynare's past. I know that this world might be different from the original DxD and Raynare's past might be different since it was never revealed, but I at least want to know her motives behind doing this.

"Like I told you before, she was an good and obedient girl, when I first found her she looked like a broken doll, but over the time she seemed to have got better. She always looked for an oportunity to help me out even when I didn't need her to. I asked her the reason one time, she answered 'Because... I don't want to..." before she stormed out." Azazel says a bit of Raynare's past.

Because of what, exactly? Did she do something she shouldn't have?

Azazel continued. "I always notice that she always looked at the setting sun with a longing and sorrowful look on her face. I dared not to ask her about it, since it might have been an sensitive issue for her."

I... I was genuinely surprised to hear that. Azazel being considerate? That's a new one, but I can't tell if he's being truthful or he just did that not to get bothered by Raynare's feelings.

I asked him. "You think that she might have lost someone and tries to get revenge?"

"It might be possible. After all, when I found her in all her lonesome she kept muttering 'Why?' Over and over again, even on her sleep." Azazel says more about Raynare's past.

Hmm... the anime never did reveal anything about her past, not even bits of it.

But now, the more I heard it from Azazel... the more it makes sense for her to turn out the way she did.

It might not be the same for the Raynare from the original timeline, who toyed with the feelings of Issei and mocked him. But if the Raynare of this world's timeline does it to get back at someone.

"What are you going to do about them?" I asked, since I shared what I know from them.

Azazel then says something that I saw coming from miles away. "I'll leave them to you."

I sighed before asking. "Why me? Shouldn't be you, the leader of the faction, to deal with insubordinated members?"

"Nah, it is the better if it is you the one who does it. After all, she seems to have some strange fixation on humans in particular." Azazel states something that caught my interest.

So her particular fixation with humans doesn't comes just for the Sacred Gears?

Whatever the case is.

Sacred Gears may not come even closer to Noble Phantasms in terms of raw power and haxes, although it depends on whatever Noble Phantasm since Angra Manyu's NP is a shitty one, I can't deny their convenient uses.

What lacks in power, it makes it up for utility, since recently I learned that the reason why I never exausted myself from using the Class Cards is due to my Boosted Gear, Ddraig in particular, that lends my an endless supply of magical energy since dragons produces magical energy naturally just by breathing.

Heck, even Asia's chan Sacred Gear, Healing Twilight, is capable of healing any wound regardless of race with only losing magical energy being the restricting part.

"Then you will not help me in dealing with them?" I asked since I was beggining to think that he will not involve himself in this at all.

With him replying. "Nope, that's not what I mean. What I mean is that Raynare doesn't just needs to be defeated by human hands, she also needs to be confronted about her past, because if I were the one to take care of everything, she might never come clean about it."

I see, he doesn't just wants me to defeat Raynare, he wants to learn the motives behind her actions.

I do agree with Azazel. In the original anime, she was just killed off without any part of her past being revealed. The 'Raynare' of this world might not be the same as the 'Raynare' from the anime. But because she isn't the same is because I want to learn of her past, after all, I'm not like John Wick who just pulls the trigger without so much of an explination regardless if that's the right call or not.

Therefore I said. "Very well, I shall do the heavy job."

"Then I'll take care of the aftermath, after all, neither you nor my friend wants the 'Class Card' system to be spread among the Three Faction, right?" I nodded at his words, since it will be troublesome for me to deal with with the factions that wants to investigate me. "So, how will you deal with this?"

It was then when I told Azazel the how I shall deal with Raynare's group.

My meeting with Azazel was a success. Now I have an ally within the Fallen Angel faction.

But I'm still curious about that 'friend' Azazel mentioned. Is he someone from my world? Someone from the world of Fate? Or a native of this world who just happens to come across the Class Cards?

Whatever the case might be, I just hope that this doesn't means that an Holy Grail War ritual is on the making.

It has been a long and long time, and the year has passed already. The chapter felt kinda rushed, but my little stupid brain couldn't think on anything better to write.

About if Koneko is still loyal to Rias? She is still loyal to Rias as the original, but that is as long as Shizuka isn't involved. After all, this 'Koneko' isn't quite the same as the 'Koneko' from the original one.

That also comes in the case of the 'Raynare' of this story. She will be half-and-half the same and not the same as the Raynare from the canon material, since I'm adding my own personal touches regarding her past since her past isn't even mentioned in the original High School DxD.

Who's the friend that Azazel was talking about? That will be something to tell about in another time, right now, that said 'friend' won't be involved in the curren events of the Star Witch until much later.

Anyway.
