The Truth, No Sleep, and Maybe a Shower Too

Raleigh's POV

I took a deep breath and began to speak.

"You know how my mom used to protest InGen on allocations that they were conducting illegal genetic experiments on people? Well, she was right. I'm one of those experiments. After mom died, InGen got a hold of me before you or Uncle Tim and they proceeded to splice the DNA of other animals into my own. On top of that, I was InGen's most successful experiment... Yippee for me," I started.

I continued to explain to Owen everything I knew (well almost everything... Owen didn't exactly need to know that I had killed two people). I managed to explain it all during a thirty minute drive back to HQ, and by the time we had arrived Owen and Barry were sitting in a heavy silence.

Barry was the first to speak up.

"They are looking for you, Tabitha," he said.

I raised an eyebrow and replied, "Uh, yeah?"

Barry shook his head and said, "Tabitha several years ago I overheard Wu speaking on the telephone. He spoke fast but I heard enough. Wu said something about 'another perfect splice', 'capturing the original', and 'breed'. Tabitha, I have reason to believe that Wu plans on finding you and—" he swallowed and shook his head in disgust and refused to say more.

My eyes were wide and my breathing had quickened. I stared at my shaking hands. I suddenly felt like throwing up. I felt Zach wrap an arm around my shoulders and Gray grab one of my hands.

"No," Owen muttered through clenched teeth.

"I'm not gonna let that happen," He continued.

We pulled up in front of HQ and silently slid out of the jeep.

Both Owen and Barry had their guns drawn as they surveyed the area.

We quickly moved through the partially demolished building before finally making it to the control room.

Once inside the doors were sealed.

A man with a mop of messy dark brown hair quickly swiveled around: it was Lowrey. His face split into a huge grin.

"Oh thank God you're okay Ral," Lowrey exclaimed.

After a friendly reunion Lowrey went back to the computers, Owen and Barry at his side.

They were tracking every dinosaur in the park.

-----LINE BREAK-----

After some much needed medical attention we sat next to Lowrey watching the red dots (that signified the dinosaurs) move across the large screen. We were waiting for Claire to arrive to take us to one of the resorts.

I was curled up in one of the chairs, still in nothing but Zach's jacket. Finally, the past week caught up to me and exhaustion hit me like a truck. I was just beginning to nod off when the voice of my best friend filled my skull (note the sarcasm).

Tabitha, I know you're not really a big fan of me but like it or not we're stuck together. The only way we're going to get through this is if we work together; let me help you, Tabitha.

*mental grumbling* Alright, alright, I'll "work with you" just do me a favor, I replied.

Anything Tabitha, the Voice replied.

Shut up, I snapped in response.

The Voice went silent after that and I felt her presence leave. Right as I was beginning to finally drift off to sleep again, Claire showed up. I very tearful and cheerful reunion ensued. After hugs were passed around Claire, and several armed guards escorted Me, Zach, and Gray to one of the resorts.

We had rooms on one of the top floors (to make it harder for any of the rogue dinos to get to us). We were initially meant to be separated, with Zach and Gray in one room and I in another, but we refused to leave one another, and just to prove it Zach took hold of my hand and didn't let go. We all ended up bunking in the room meant for Zach and Gray. Claire's room was directly across from ours, Owen's to the right of hers, and Lowery's to the right of us.

We entered the room and found stacks of clean clothing laid out on the beds (I had to retrieve my clothes from the room I was initially assigned to). Gray quickly grabbed his clothes and hopped in the shower.

While we waited for him neither Zach nor I spoke. We just sat next to each other on the window bench, overlooking the empty, slightly crushed, remnants of Jurassic World.

Our hands never separated.

Gray soon reentered the world of the clean and Zach stood up, kissing me on the forehead as he went.

After he had left to shower I turned to Gray and patted the spot where Zach had previously been. Gray happily sat down next to me and I began to play with his long reddish hair.

As we fell into a comfortable silence Gray spoke up, "Thanks for saving us again Raleigh."

A small smiled played on my lips at his statement.

"Anytime buddy," I replied quietly.

Silence filled the air once more and a few minutes later Gray spoke again, "What are we going to do now? Now that we've escaped InGen, that is."

The smile vanished from my lips, "Well we are not doing anything. I've put you guys in far too much danger as it is so hopefully your parents will be here soon to take you home. I can't risk the two of you getting hurt. And me? Well I'll just try to move on with life I guess, maybe take out a few bad guys in the process."

"Like hell we're leaving without you," Zach's voice caused me to jump and swivel around to see him.

The first thing I noticed was that he was shirtless. He was drying off his hair with a towel as beads of water trailed down his torso. I bit my lip at the sight and couldn't stop the blush that immediately flushed my cheeks.

I started to reply but kept stumbling over my words, all the while trying to avoid looking at Zach.

Zach chuckled at my response to his semi-nudeness and said, "Besides, if we left you'd miss me too much."

I looked up and scowled at him as my blush deepened.

"Hey!" Gray yelled in indignation, "She'd miss me too!"

I smirked at that and mumbled under my breath, "I'd miss Gray more than you."

Zach lightly chuckled at that. With a mischievous gleam in his eyes he stepped forward and rested his hands on either side of me, effectively boxing me in on the seat.

He leaned forward and whispered into my ear, "You sure about that?"

As his lips tickled my ear my breath hitched. He laughed as he got the desired response. Scowling I decide to turn the tables. I pushed him away from me and stood up.

"Yep. I'm 100% sure. Nice try though love bird," I replied as I mock saluted him, brushing off what had just happened as if the event never occurred.

Quickly grabbing my clothes I sauntered to the bathroom, making sure to put an extra sway to my hips (mind you, I'm still only wearing Zach's jacket that only reaches my mid thigh... take that you egotistical raptor boy). I could feel Zach's eyes boring holes into my back.

I smirked and gave myself a mental pat on the back.

I closed and locked the bathroom door and frowned when I realized how much effort it was going to take to get clean.

Oh joy, I muttered to myself.

Third Person POV

As soon as Raleigh locked the bathroom door Gray burst into laughter.

Zach's face showed his immense shock at Raleigh's response.

"Okay. That was gross. My poor innocent eyes. But that rejection almost makes up for it," Gray said in mock seriousness.

Zach's cheeks burnt with a vibrant shade of fire truck red.

"Shut up," he replied and shoved Gray away, causing his little brother to laugh even more.

-----LINE BREAK-----

Raleigh's POV

After what felt like hours of scrubbing I finally was somewhat satisfied with the amount of grime I had removed from my body. I hopped out of the shower and dried off. While I was drying off I noticed the long thin scar that had replaced the gash on my abdomen.

Well that's pretty,  I sarcastically said to myself.

I sighed and slipped on the pair of black sweatpants I had been given and then pulled on the white tank top that had accompanied the sweats. I then unlocked the bathroom door and quietly padded into the bedroom. I didn't even bother brushing my hair and just threw my still wet hair into a quick messy bun.

Gray and Zach were still sitting and watching the world through the window. I noted that Zach had decided to put a shirt on.

Thank God. He's a distraction when he's topless, I told myself.

With a loud sigh I plopped down onto one of the queen sized beds.

Both Zach and Gray acknowledged my presence with simple "heys" and I'm pretty sure I managed some sort of mostly coherent response, but I honestly was so dead tired I can't recall.

I remember curling up and as soon as my head was in a comfortable position on one of the pillows I was out like a light.

Unfortunately, that's when the dreams began.
