Lying to Save Our Braccas

(Braccas is pants in Latin. If you remember what PJ book it's in, put it in the comments :) )
Edit: Just fixing a word :)

Will POV

Nico fell asleep on my shoulder. Good, he needs sleep. But did he have to leave me alone to deal with this mess we got into? We are in the past, Nico is hurt, and I am sitting in front of a wizard who is a werewolf, whom Nico met in the underworld. Because the guy is dead. But he is alive because we are in the past. I would love to say I'm confused but it makes sense.

I sigh heavily and run my hands through my hair. My healing spell worked, which means my dad should be around, as well as the other gods. But it's not like they would help us. Chiron should be around though! Maybe we could IM him, he can help, I'm sure of it. I don't have any Drachmas though. Dam. (A/N hehe, I just had to. I am not sorry.)

"Could you explain what just happened?" Lupin asks, cutting through my thoughts. Oh. I completely forgot he was still there.

"It's complicated," I say, scrambling to find a good cover story. "You see, in short, we have no idea how we got here, and it's a bit confusing for us, that's all. Sorry for our weird questions."

"And why did you ask the year? And how does that boy know me?" This is not going well. I need to take his suspicion off of us. Nico told me all about the wizards, and this guy is a wizard, so I can use that, I think.

"Well, we suddenly appear in a random place, we wanted to make sure we didn't appear in a random time as well," I say, proud of the lie.

"Nico knows you through his father, who is a wizard. His father just likes to know about everyone, you know? He likes to feel omniscient, you could say." I can't hold my smile as I say this and have to make an effort not to laugh.

"I see," Lupin says. He seems pretty convinced, but he definitely still has doubts, and he confirms that with his next question.

"And are you at the correct time? Your reactions seemed slightly intense when I told you." There was no getting out of this one. Hopefully, time travel is a thing in the wizard-land.

"No, you are right. It looks like we went back in time slightly." Lupin looks surprised, but not too surprised, which is good.

"Right. And what year are you both from?" I put an arm around Nico for comfort and answer in a quiet voice.

"2020."

Lupin looks shaken and gets up.

"I need to go let the others know of the situation. I trust that you will be no harm to us?" I give my best reassuring smile.

"You don't have to worry. And thank you for not..." I don't know how to finish the sentence. I would say 'killing us' but that may be taken the wrong way. Lupin smiles back at me.

"It's no problem. I will be back up with some others very soon, and we will get you a room to stay in until we can figure things out."

"Thank you," I say gratefully, but I quickly ask a question before he can leave. "Um... you are the good guys, right?"

Lupin nods and leaves the room, and I feel a bit better. Nico seems to trust this man even though he is a werewolf (And by that I mean he didn't skewer him), but I wanted to make sure. Hopefully, they can help get us back home, I think as I gently lay Nico onto the bed.

-Baby Linebreak coming through - also, warning! trials of apollo spoilers!!!

As I wait for Lupin and his friends to come back, I decide to clean up the mess of blood and bandages. I use the leftover water to mop up the floor and put the dagger I was using on my belt. I may as well be armed in case of a monster attack. Nico will be proud.

Speaking of Nico, I look over to the bed and see Nico thrashing around. Another nightmare. He has them often, and I wish I could take them away. He has been through so much, and it's not fair that he has to relive those traumas practically every night. He has lost his mother, and sister, been through Tartarus alone and then gotten kidnapped and put in a jar to die, and he recently lost Jason, whom he had gotten pretty close to. I wish I was there for him through it all, but I can't change that. I just need to do my best to help him now. And forever after that.

I rush over to the bed and shake his uninjured shoulder. if he keeps thrashing, he is going to hurt himself further.

"Nico!" I whisper urgently. "Wake up, it's just a dream. Come on, Sunshine, wake up."

Nico opens his eyes, breathing heavily. Tears are streaking down his face, and he is shaking slightly. I help him sit up, and give him a hug. He needs comfort in times like this.

"You okay?" Nico nods shakily into my shoulder. "You can go back to sleep if you want, they are just figuring out what to do." Nico shakes his head.

"I don't want to sleep anymore." He says and pulls back, wiping his tears away. I sigh but decide not to push it.

"That's fine. I need to check your wound anyway." Nico nods and stays still as I unravel his bandages.

"Looks okay. The stitches are holding up. I'm just going to clean it again and put different bandages."

"And get us some shirts?" Nico asks with a smirk, but I can see the blush on his face, and my face heats up as well.

"That too." I smile back. I get off the bed and look around. There are clothes scattered everywhere, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something. I look around and find a navy t-shirt that seems to be Nico's size and a green one for me. I make a mental note to buy these kids some new shirts, seeing as most of theirs are now all bloody and ripped up.

I hand Nico his new shirt, who takes it gratefully, and I slip mine on. I laugh as I see Nico having some trouble getting it on without moving his arm. Nico glares at me.

"Do you need help?" I ask between laughs. Nico scowls.

"No." He pauses for a moment, trying again without success.

"Yes" He grumbles, and I smile and walk over to him.

"You have to put your injured arm first and then do the head and the other arm," I explain, taking the shirt from around his neck, and sliding his arm through the right place. I then put it over his head and he puts the other arm in. I've done this a thousand times with campers with injuries, so it seems pretty normal to me, but Nico is blushing from head to toe. I grin at his embarrassment. He is too cute.

"Stop laughing at me," Nico mutters grumpily, and I grin wider. Nico glares, but his lips are twisted into a small smile. I silently congratulate myself for cheering him up.

"Sit down, I need to put your arm in a sling," I tell him, and he sits obediently. I rummage through the medicine kit and find some sturdy bandages that should work well. I put it under Nico's cold arm and fasten it behind his neck. In doing so, I find my face inches from Nico's and I take advantage and kiss his cheek. Nico blushes once more, but smiles and pushes me away playfully.

Nico and I go over everything that happened. We are positive that the scythe - which is currently at Nico's feet - is the cause of the shadow-time-travel. The gods are definitely around because my healing blessings worked pretty well, and they are also gods, so obviously they are around. We may test it later by calling Zeus 'Thunderpants' or something, but we'd rather not get struck by lightning.

We also have no idea how to get home. Nico doesn't have any Drachmas, and shadow travelling is out of the question. Hopefully, the wizards will be able to help. They are really our only plan.

Nico explains about the wizarding world - Harry Potter, Voldemort/the-cheater-of-death, Hogwarts, etc. and I have to say, it was pretty cool. I mean, obviously, their power isn't anything compared to the Hestia (Edit: Hecate) kids. Wizards descend from Merlin - who lived thousands of years ago and was blessed by Hecate (posing as the Triple Goddess) - and that their powers don't affect demigods that much. Their most powerful spell, the killing curse, will knock us unconscious and give us the appearance of death for half an hour or so as to avoid suspicion of the gods and all that.

We sit talking for around twenty minutes, and then Nico and I hear people coming up the stairs. Nico turns to me.

"We can't tell them about who we really are, all right? Our cover story is that we are wizards from America. I think there is a school there." Nico says, and I nod.

"And since we are from the future," I add "they can't prove us wrong by searching us up."

"Exactly. Now, time to meet the wizards."
