When Athena spoke the council had stayed very quiet. The council, which hated Athena for choosing a village boy over a rich and educated young lad for the king's position. Annabeth knew this. But what she did not expect was for them to stay quiet when she had to speak. Her mother had asked her how she had traveled back and if she knew anything about what was happening once the court and council were satisfied with grilling her.

"Mother i... I have to ask, Piper, told me you were planning something.." Annabeth prompted, incredibly curious to know how they were figuring out the whole battle scenario going on. "Oh yes, that girl Piper, she's amazing, isn't she? Her plans have helped a lot. Her mother is the royal seamstress. Aphrodite?" her mother asked as if Annabeth had not just come back after 5 long years. But yet so, Annabeth shook her head. Athena then went on to explain all the work of the girls that worked in her group. She never really let the plan of winning the war out, but Annabeth knew it was really good, seeing the light in her mother's grey eyes. She would have been happy if she was included in the idea but she was content with just being by her mother's side. She couldn't really see her father, catching a few glimpses here and there in the halls as she re-kindled with everyone. Her rooms were no more the bright blue-ish grey theme they had been when she last had seen. They had green velvet curtains and a brown carpet. Her bed was double the size and was no longer the canopy where Malcolm and her would tell each other silly stories. It was no longer the room where she slept soundly but where she could plan schemes and attacks on enemies. This excited every cell in her body and was grateful that she was born before Malcolm. This constant reminder of Malcolm was enough for her to abandon her newly made room and go in search of her blond brother. She had missed him, definitely but now that she was back, she was scared she would no longer remember him as the young, naive, loving brother. Maybe he had grown up to be different. Maybe he wouldn't love her anymore. After this thought, Annabeth scolded herself and her brain for being so paranoid. She was greeted by a bunch of sweet maids, who pointed to the arena when she asked them where Malcolm was. She walked slowly and opened the doors to the arena. She was not surprised to see that he was sitting with his back against a pole, with a book in his hand. His fingers were carefully turning the pages, his eyes skimming the pages fast and skillfully. "Hello there, little brother, '' said Annabeth, making her way up to him. "It's been long has it not?"

"Annie!" he yelled, practically deafening Annabeth. "When did you come? I knew you were going too soon. How come no one told me? I would have arranged something. By the way, I redesigned your room, do you like it? I have been working on it but i-" he cut himself off, as tears spilled on his cheeks. He ran over to her and hugged the life out of her. Had she not been wearing her corset, her chest would have been squished into nothing.

Annabeth spent the next three hours roaming the halls with Malcolm and picking on him. But he was more open with Annabeth than he had ever been. He told her all she needed to know about what she had missed. Everything a Queen needed to know.

Annabeth wondered what she would do tomorrow. The festival was going to happen without a doubt and she would have to be a part of it. Kingdoms did not need invitations to come to an annual festival. They could just barge in and no one would mind. But Annabeth, for all she knew, was sure it was not Athens' turn to host the festival and games. She went to sleep knowing that the festival was supposed to be hosted by Atlantis and four days later.

The next morning came with a terrible cry from outside of Annabeth's window. She didn't expect it, but it was a wake-up call from her mother. Her maids came in and dressed her up, corseting her so that she couldn't breathe. She left her rooms as soon as they left and headed towards the dining halls. Her mind, still focusing on the fact that Piper and her father had lied. She slowed down in front of the courtroom. The council sat with her father, probably discussing something about the war that was going on. She knew that she couldn't barge in, so she just met her father's eyes with the deadliest stare that she could gather up with all her nerves acting up. She saw the throne beside her father, empty. She stormed the rest of the way to the dining room.

Her mood did not improve when she found out that the whole city knew that there was no festival and celebration going on.

There was a time when if you had told Annabeth that her own parents would deceive her, she would have judo flipped you and threatened you. But now that she stood in the middle of the court with Piper and Hazel, Katie and Clarisse, she would have thanked you.

There was no explanation from her mother that day. Her mother had just lied to her and she did not regret it. Annabeth knew that Piper had been forced to lie, and she had to admit it, Piper had grace and she knew how to use it. Annabeth also knew that she would have to soon get ready to question her parents. Why had they lied to her and made Piper lie to her? There was no possible reason that made sense but Annabeth waited. She waited for 2 days to get her parents alone with her. 2 days. It was not worth the wait.
