Chapter 5 - Between Hope and Darkness

I went back :)

Don't forget to comment at the end of the chapter and in parts you find interesting :)

Tower of Heroes, located in the heart of Seoul.

On the 103rd floor of this headquarters of the Hero Association, Yun Seung-Ah was reading the records of the recent unauthorized incident. The video she was watching was filmed by the museum camera that luckily wasn't destroyed during the fight. Naturally, it contained the battle between the two Cube cadets and a Djinn.

Although she was a bit hesitant, knowing she could get into trouble if they found out, she was too curious about him to let it pass.

"Wow..."

She watched in amazement as the battle between the Djinn and the cadet she was curious about, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, began.

At first, it wasn't a fight but rather a complete beatdown that the Djinn received from Cadet Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. No matter how much she thought about it, the power behind those blows wasn't normal, as they were capable of injuring the Djinn. And it wasn't just that that caught her attention.

"So many martial arts..."

How on earth could a cadet fight like that?

"Karate, Aikido, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and Kung fu," she listed all the martial arts she noticed him using in that small fight against the Djinn.

Her eyes widened.

Unlike Koreans who age 1 year at birth, Japanese don't. Since he was Japanese, he was only 16 years old.

"Is it possible to learn so many martial arts being so young...?"

It was simply ridiculous.

Not even she had half the knowledge he had about martial arts. Moreover, he seemed to use these same martial arts with such proficiency that only a master should be able to wield them, at only 16 years old.

"It doesn't make sense."

When did he start training to be able to learn so many martial arts? It had to be very early. So early that she found it hard to believe. She thought of all the different possibilities to explain this without it being through pure training.

The most acceptable explanation would be that he had a Gift, a Talent that made him proficient in various martial arts. However, there was something that made her less certain about it.

She checked all the available files about him, which weren't much, just his time at the Military Academy of Agents, where he was Rank: 1724. However, the records showed that he used a sword as his main weapon; he apparently never fought unarmed.

"Although I can't fully believe these records..."

After all, the Japanese government itself seems to be trying to hide the existence of this boy.

Firstly, he used a sword at the Military Academy of Agents. Secondly, he switched to a revolver, a firearm in Cube's primary weapon selection. And lastly, he appears to be fighting a damn Djinn in hand-to-hand combat, demonstrating a great knowledge of martial arts.

Moreover, there's the fact that he healed from a fatal wound out of nowhere. The wound simply closed as if it had never existed. It didn't seem to be any kind of magic she knows. She had never seen anything like it.

"It really doesn't make sense."

Nothing about this boy makes any sense. The more she thinks about it, the more confused she gets about the whole situation.

"It's like his very existence is a walking contradiction," she pondered.

Sighing in her chair, she thought of the person responsible for killing the Djinn.

Chae Nayun.

That insane mana coming from the sword she took from the museum to use was something she really didn't expect to see. She clearly had tremendous potential. However, she doubted that Chae Shinhyuk would let her keep his daughter.

Towards the end of the video, the Djinn that was cut in half turned around and seemed to say something to Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. It was a pity there was no audio, however, she had something to work with. Bringing the video closer to the Djinn's face, she focused on his lips. Although she wasn't a professional at lip-reading, she could manage.

She repeated the same part several times until she finally had confidence that she had understood what the Djinn said, well, probably. It was quite difficult to understand the Djinn who seemed to struggle to speak.

Something like "You planned this from the beginning, didn't you?" Although she wasn't exactly sure how, she was confident it was something like that.

However, what did the Djinn mean by that?

"...Could it be?" She had an idea and rewound the video to the beginning of the fight.

After the video reached a certain point, she paused it.

"Here..."

This was the moment when the Djinn took control of the fight after finding an opening and attacking. From the beginning, she noticed that Ayanokouji Kiyotaka seemed to have a low attack speed, but he still managed to attack without any problems. It was as if he could predict the Djinn's movements.

She pressed play again and watched closely.

"It can't be... he...?"

Yun Seung-Ah was incredulous.

At first glance, it seemed that the Djinn had found an opening and counterattacked, but upon watching carefully in slow motion, it didn't seem so. His subtle movement made her sure of it.

"This crazy guy..."

It was he himself who deliberately left the opening for the Djinn to attack him.

Throughout the video, he seemed to be talking to Chae Nayun. And then, she breaks the glass, grabs the sword, and easily kills the Djinn, something that her main weapon arrows, the bow, couldn't even do damage to the Djinn. She seemed to have some Talent with the sword, otherwise, this wouldn't be possible.

And he knew that.

He planned all this to make Chae Nayun use a sword?

Surreal.

It was simply totally insane.

He's crazy.

Mysterious.

"Hahaha."

However, this only made her more interested in him.

She has to recruit him, no matter what it takes. In fact, she's going to visit him in the hospital right now!

Bam!

At that moment, the door swung open. Startled, Yun Seung-Ah turned to face the door.

Standing there was the executive of the Association, Aileen.

Despite her petite stature and being only 1.53 meters tall, Yun Seung-Ah knew that a ten-foot giant resided within that woman. Unfortunately for her, Aileen was staring at her with terrifying eyes. Yun Seung-Ah's face paled as she recoiled in horror.

"E-Eldest sister?"

"I knew you were here. Get out."

"Ah, wait, I can explain. I can..."

"Shut up and follow me."

Yun Seung-Ah didn't want to follow her, even if it cost her her life. But her body moved on its own. That was Aileen's unique Gift, "Spiritual Order." Of course, as powerful as it was, the price she had to pay was equally great. There was a high risk of magical power decrease, and her underdeveloped body was also a price she had to pay. But still...

"Eldest sister, I'm a hero too! Please, take that into consideration!"

Her ability was honestly very deceptive.

"Only Association Heroes are authorized to enter here."

"I know! I'll leave on my own, so let me go!"

"You better hurry before I throw you out the window."

In the end, Yun Seung-Ah was expelled from the registration room.

"You have two choices. One is to be punished. Two, help me with a certain matter."

"I'm sorry. Please let me go this time. I don't want to do this either."

Only the video that Yun Seung-Ah was watching was left playing in the empty room.

"Save me! You pervert! I saw the file name I was looking at, it said [Hot and abnormal Cube cadet] -!"

Yun Seung-Ah couldn't finish speaking as Aileen's hand covered her mouth.

Unable to speak normally, she screamed in the hallway as she struggled and was dragged by the head.

"Help!"

Apparently, she wouldn't be able to visit Ayanokouji Kiyotaka in the hospital after all.

♬♡♢♤♧ ♬♥♦♠♣

I was still at the hospital.

It's not like I was still seriously injured. In fact, I was already completely recovered. However, I decided to stay for a few more days to think about what I'm going to do.

Kim Suho came to visit Nayun and me on our second day at the hospital. Apparently, the place where he was with Yeonha was also attacked by a Djinn, although he said he was able to defeat it quite easily.

In the novel, there was no Djinn attack outside of the museum. Was my presence the cause of this variable?

Or perhaps, it's the "World" itself interfering to create an opportunity for Kim Suho to grow? He's the main protagonist of this novel that I ended up in, in other words, he technically still is the protagonist of this world.

Will something like this happen again if he's not in the main scenario? It's a considerable risk.

However, my main concern at the moment isn't that, so I didn't think too much about it.

My real concern now is Chae Jinyoon, Nayun's brother who should be the protagonist's companion in the main story, however, he's currently a devil seed. This was a big problem, as the devil seed was something that would only appear in the second half of the romance.

The protagonist wouldn't be able to deal with this at the beginning of the story, and even I'm not confident in handling it using normal means.

The safest option at the moment is to kill Chae Jinyoon before the devil seed fully sprouts.

If I'm not mistaken, a devil seed takes about 5 to 6 years to fully develop. He's been like this for four years, so I only have 1 or 2 years.

That's if I trust the information from the novel.

There's no way I can blindly trust that information. The world is constantly changing because of my presence and the "co-author." I have to be prepared for the worst-case scenario. I need to research more about this world to know the major differences from what I read and what I'm experiencing right now.

Killing Chae Jinyoon is the safest option, and I must come up with a plan for that quickly.

But...

There might be a way.

This would be another major turning point.

However, as I ponder over this possibility, my mind is flooded with a series of hypotheses, each bringing its own ramifications and consequences. If I seriously consider the idea of saving Chae Jinyoon, I have to be prepared to face the challenges and risks it would entail.

Firstly, there's the issue of effectiveness. Even if I intend to save Chae Jinyoon, there's no guarantee it's possible. Devil seeds are a dangerous and unpredictable phenomenon, something I'm not sure can be removed, and even if it is possible, interfering in this process could result in unknown consequences. Moreover, if I fail in the attempt to save him, it could potentially worsen the situation, making him an even more formidable enemy.

Secondly, there's the issue of trust.

However, as much as I ponder over these negative points, I can't ignore the possibility of a radical change in the course of events if I succeed in saving Chae Jinyoon. He could again become an ally as he is in the novel's story?

Furthermore, considering the crucial role that Chae Nayun plays in this story, it's evident that she will rely heavily on my guidance and support. If I'm able to save her brother, it would further strengthen our bond and mutual trust. I would become not only a source of protection but also a source of hope and comfort for her.

Therefore, upon evaluating all this information, I come to the conclusion that if there's a realistic chance of saving Chae Jinyoon, it's worth exploring. Despite the risks and uncertainties involved, the potential benefit of strengthening the bond with Chae Nayun is simply too great to ignore.

In addition to all this, I should be able to earn a large amount of PH for drawing attention by saving someone who should die.

I think it's time to start using my PH. I currently have 1501 PH. I used 143 of my 144 PH to create that one-time-use "Talent" in the fight against the Djinn.

Most Djinns are of the darkness attribute, so if I use light attribute bullets, it would be deadly for them. But I don't want to limit myself only to the light attribute. So how should I modify...?

[Mana Bullet]

「Null Attribute」 「Attack Power (3/10)

— A bullet with condensed mana. It's much stronger than gunpowder bullets.

....

[Mana Bullet]

Arcane EssenceAttack Power (7/10)

A bullet with condensed mana, capable of channeling the essence of all available attributes. Its bearer has mastery over the manipulation of arcano-attribute essence, allowing them to choose which attribute to use when firing, perfectly adapting to various combat situations.

....

[This modification requires 705.47 PH. Would you like to save this configuration?]

About 47% of my current PH, huh. It's quite expensive, but I think it's to be expected for me to be able to use all attributes in my mana bullets. Furthermore, I also changed the attack power to 7. I believe it was a good upgrade. I didn't plan to fight in close combat with every Djinn I encounter anyway.

I have exactly 796.53 PH left after these modifications.

I still didn't have any Arts. It's a great opportunity. I think I should be able to create a necessary one without problems with the PH I still have.

Arts: (0/3)

...

[Art, Serenity Gaze]

[Your luck was triggered! Art, Serenity Gaze, has been upgraded]

[Serenity Gaze] [Intermediate Classification] [Growth Type]

— Through the Serenity Gaze, it's possible to inspect a person's body with extraordinary precision. By concentrating to the extreme, the user is able to detect health issues, injuries, curses, and all kinds of harmful diseases in the individual's body.

— Additionally, the Serenity Gaze provides accurate recommendations on suitable treatments, necessary medications, and specific therapies to promote healing and restore physical well-being.

...

[This Art requires 748.50 PH to be created. Would you like to save it?]

So, after saving, I'll have only 48.03 PH left. It's really a pity to spend my PH this way, but there's no choice. I need to take a look at Chae Jinyoon and really hope there's some chance to remove his devil seed and save him.

Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to kill him.

And just as I thought about it, the door to my hospital room was opened.

"Hey, are you feeling better already?"

It was Chae Nayun.

"Yes. I should be able to return to classes starting tomorrow."

She approached me.

Her injuries weren't as serious as mine, so she ended up staying less time in the hospital. However, it seems she still hadn't returned to Cube. In fact, she visited me frequently. According to her and the doctors, the instructor came to visit me when I was unconscious.

Honestly, besides her and Kim Suho, I also hoped that Yeonha or Yun Seung-Ah would visit me, but they didn't.

Yun Seung-Ah at this point surely must have watched the video through the museum's cameras, so she should already have a keen interest in me, but she didn't come.

"That's good. Next week, on Tuesday, we'll have labyrinth exploration combat training. It would be a shame if you missed it."

Speaking of which, tomorrow would be Tuesday. I guess it would be good to go to the reading club before the labyrinth exploration training.

"I don't think you need to worry about that; I'll be in perfect shape for the training."

"I'm glad to hear that."

She really seemed a bit happy. Since she's here, it's the perfect time to deal with this.

"In fact, Nayun, there's something I wanted to talk to you about," I began, choosing my words carefully. "About your brother, Chae Jinyoon."

Nayun frowned slightly, clearly surprised by the subject.

"What about him?"

It was natural for her to react this way with her brother mentioned. He's been in a coma for four years now.

"Could you take me to his room? I'd like to take a look at his condition."

"Why do you want to see his condition? He's been in a coma for four years."

"Well, it turns out I have a theory about Jinyoon's condition."

As soon as I said that, her eyes widened slightly.

"... Are you serious?"

"Please don't get false hopes that I'll miraculously cure him. However, I believe I might be able to do more than the doctors."

It was a ridiculous statement coming from me.

I knew it.

She knew it.

However, there was no way she wouldn't seriously consider my words. I was a cadet who suddenly switched from using a sword to a firearm and then fought in close combat against a Djinn.

She knew perfectly well that nothing about me was normal.

She hesitated for a moment but ended up nodding silently. I get up from the bed, following her towards the hospital room's door.

We walked silently down the corridor, each step echoing in the tense air between us.

"I took a little longer to visit him because of my father."

Chae Nayun suddenly broke the silence.

"What do you mean?"

"He kept spouting nonsense about wanting to talk to you properly. I kept stalling him until they called him, and he left."

Why the hell was her face red when she said that?

"I see."

Finally, we arrived at Jinyoon's room. Nayun opened the door quietly, revealing the dark and peaceful interior. I enter cautiously, observing Jinyoon's inert body lying on the bed, surrounded by machines and medical equipment.

...

...

...

Nayun stood beside Ayanokouji, watching him with a slightly expectant expression.

"Well, as you can see, many doctors have tried everything," she begins, her voice heavy with sadness. "But he never woke up."

Ayanokouji approached the bed slowly with his hands in his pockets, his eyes fixed on Jinyoon's peaceful face.

"I understand..." he murmured. "However, I believe I have something that the doctors don't."

Nayun raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.

"And what would that be?"

He didn't answer her question.

Instead, he stood still.

She noticed something subtle, a kind of electricity in the air, a strange sensation that seemed to course through his body, as if enveloped by an aura of mystery and power.

As Ayanokouji remained motionless beside the bed, Nayun felt a strange energy emanating from him. It was as if the very air around him was vibrating in a supernatural way, as if mana flowed around him, dancing in response to his presence.

He seemed to be in extreme concentration.

And then, something extraordinary happened. Ayanokouji's eyes, which were once golden brown, suddenly transformed before Nayun's eyes. They glowed with an unusual silver/pink hue, as if reflecting the moonlight on a starry night.

Nayun held her breath, unable to look away from Ayanokouji's silver eyes. There was something deeply hypnotic and enigmatic about them, something that both fascinated and unsettled her.

....

Ayanokouji focused his eyes on Jinyoon's inert form, activating the "Eyes of Serenity" to examine his condition with extraordinary precision. In doing so, he entered a state of deep concentration, allowing his perception to transcend the limits of physical sight.

[Chae Jinyoon's Condition]

[Critical Condition]

[Chances of Recovery, "Very unlikely/almost impossible"]

As Ayanokouji delved deeper, he identified the presence of the devil's seed, a malignant manifestation that slowly corrupted Jinyoon's body and mind. It was a serious threat that would require extraordinary measures to eliminate.

...

[Recommended Treatment]

Two elixirs will be needed to heal Jinyoon completely:

1. Soul Purifying Water: This elixir has the power to eliminate the Devil's Seed, dissipating its malignant influence and restoring Jinyoon's soul purity.

2. Tears of the Aurora: This elixir will revitalize Jinyoon's body, speeding up the healing process and strengthening his physical resistance. However, it is unlikely to be able to cure him completely, leaving some residual effects.

...

These revelations shed new light on Chae Jinyoon's situation, offering a glimmer of hope in the darkness.

Fortunately, it seemed that there was a way to cure him. Unfortunately, Ayanokouji had no way of knowing how much time he had until the Devil's Seed finished corrupting Chae Jinyoon's body.

He also didn't know these two elixirs. They're something that never appeared in the novel.

"Nayun," Ayanokouji turned to her, only to see her staring at him fixedly. "Are you okay?"

"Ah, yes," she snapped out of it. "Did you find out anything?"

To dare to hope in the face of an evaluation from a Cube cadet like her when not even the best doctors were able to heal him, she really was very desperate.

"Soul Purifying Water and Tears of the Aurora. Do you know any of these?"

"Huh? No, what are those things?"

"I think I found something," he said, his voice soft and pondered. "There's a small chance that Jinyoon can be cured."

Nayun blinked, surprised by his words.

"Really?" she murmured, her eyes widening with a small flame of hope.

"Yes, but don't get too hopeful."

"...These things you mentioned... are they what can cure my brother?" She asked, looking at Jinyoon, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.

"I can't give you any certainty. It's a small chance. However, it's a chance worth taking."

"If there's even a small chance, a small chance... it's enough," she sobbed, her voice choked with emotion.

"Don't you doubt that I'm lying to you?"

She really believed in his word. However, just like her, he was just a Cube cadet. With her family's wealth, they surely hired the world's best doctors to take a look at Chae Jinyoon, but they couldn't do anything.

Ayanokouji was a little curious about this confidence she had in his word. Their interaction was still too little for such trust.

She looked at him, with tears still falling from her eyes.

"I... don't think... you're the kind of person who jokes in a situation like this... You're not lying, are you?"

"No, I'm not. However, I'd like you not to tell anyone about this."

"Eh?" She wiped her tears. "Why not? Wouldn't it be better if we had more people helping?"

"I'm sure the best doctors came to check on your brother in the last 4 years. However, none of them were able to tell his condition or even a way to make him wake up. What do you think will happen if a cadet suddenly shows up saying that there's a way to wake him up, something even the best doctors weren't able to do?"

It's just ridiculous.

"That..." She seemed to realize that, too.

"Besides, I told you it's a small chance. That's why I don't want to give hope to the people who would believe it, in case he can't wake up. It's good that you're aware of that."

"Okay... but, Ayanokouji, how were you able to analyze my brother's condition? Is it another of your various 'abilities'?"

"You could say that."

"Okay..." Apparently, he wouldn't confirm.

However, Chae Nayun couldn't help but wonder who the hell he is. In addition to all the combat skills, he is able to analyze her brother's condition and say a "possible" cure when not even the best doctors were able to do it?

How many more things could he be hiding? Is it really possible for a person to have so many abilities?

Also...

'Even after all this, his face remains the same. The same calm demeanor as always.' She thought.

For some reason, she felt sad.

"It's just pain spreading through my body, no need to make a big alarm about it."

She remembered his response to the Djinn at the museum. Why did he say that? Is pain simply irrelevant to him? And the fact that he doesn't have parents, along with his lack of emotion...

What the hell happened to make him like this?

"Well, anyway, don't be hasty and rash. We're still Cube cadets, so we have to attend classes as usual."

In other words, there isn't much time for "searching."

'Soul Purifying Water and Tears of the Aurora.' Even though she couldn't skip classes, she still had free time to look into it.

She had no idea what they were, but apparently, these two things are some kind of elixir.

She could be hopeful and could regret it in the future for having this little hope that her brother would wake up. However, no matter.

In her heart, she knew that this small chance was all she needed to keep the flame of hope alive. And with that, she surrendered to tears one last time, allowing herself to believe that, perhaps, just perhaps, there was a light at the end of the tunnel for her brother.

And then, a smile filled with confidence came.

...

Ayanokouji observed all this in silence.

As much as a small spark of hope had been ignited in Chae Nayun's heart, he knew it was his duty not to be swayed by illusions. Reality was cruel and relentless, and he was determined to face it head-on.

While his analysis had revealed a remote possibility of saving Chae Jinyoon, Ayanokouji did not delude himself with false hopes. He fully recognized the challenges and risks involved, and was prepared to act with coldness depending on the outcome.

As he considered his next steps, Ayanokouji also did not ignore the possibility of failure, as he had said before. If all options to save Jinyoon proved fruitless, he would not hesitate to take more drastic measures. He was willing to do whatever it takes to protect his own interests and ensure the stability of the world around him.

And so, although Chae Jinyoon's fate remained uncertain, Ayanokouji remained steadfast.

'I wonder, is it really possible?' He thought.

He didn't know how to find the Tears of the Aurora and Soul Purifying Water. He probably has less than a year to get these items before the Devil's Seed in Jinyoon awakens. He really was taking a big risk in trying to save him.

But no matter.

If it really is impossible to save him in time...

Then he will have to die.

♬♡♢♤♧ ♬♥♦♠♣

Tuesday.

I returned to Cube. Next Tuesday will be maze exploration combat training, but today there's nothing important. Actually, the only reason I came here today was the reading club that has activities today.

The reason I was interested in this club was quite simple.

Rachel Elizabeth Louise.

The "princess" of England who is also a cadet of Cube.

She is also known as one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Arriving at the reading club, I was greeted by the club president, a guy named Kim Minjoon. He was known for his passion for literature and his ability to engage others in fascinating discussions on a variety of topics.

Since the protagonist had never participated in the reading club, it was all new to me.

As I settled into one of the chairs, my gaze wandered around the room, looking for any sign of her. That's when I saw her, sitting in a chair at the back of the room, immersed in a book that looked unlike any other I had ever seen. Her long blonde hair gracefully fell over her shoulders, framing her angelic face. Her blue eyes shimmered with captivating intensity, reflecting the light softly as she read.

The book in her hands was a rarity, something that only existed in this world. I couldn't help but feel intrigued by what she was reading, wondering what secrets and mysteries could be contained within the pages of the book.

In my old life, I had read thousands of books. However, while there might be some similar books here to those on Earth, most of them must be entirely new. For this reason, I was quite curious about the books. Surely, there are many books to read.

I got up from the chair and started to move around the club, looking for any books that seemed interesting. I also took this opportunity to take a closer look around the club, which was quite large.

Cube's reading club was a welcoming place, full of life, with shelves stacked with books from floor to ceiling, forming a true labyrinth of knowledge. Each shelf contained an impressive variety of genres and themes, from literary classics to contemporary works, including romance, science fiction, mystery, and more. The colorful covers and intriguing titles invited visitors to explore every corner of the club, in search of the next great literary adventure.

I looked at the shelves with curiosity, examining the titles and summaries of the works with interest.

After finding a book that seemed interesting to me, I picked it up and returned to the place where I had been sitting before.

The main reason I came here might have been Rachel. However, at this moment, there's no way to interact much with her. She's a character I can't approach yet.

Rachel is someone who always ranks first in theory exams. However, this won't last long.

As I delved into reading the book I had chosen, I felt immersed in a world of fantasy and adventure, where each page revealed new secrets and mysteries. The narrative flowed smoothly, capturing my imagination and transporting me to a place beyond the worries of the real world.

Suddenly, a soft and melodious voice interrupted my thoughts, causing me to look up from the book. It was Rachel, leaning in beside me with a gentle smile on her face.

"You have good taste in reading," she said, her voice filled with genuine admiration.

I was a little surprised by her close presence, but I responded with a nod.

"This book seemed interesting, so I decided to give it a chance."

"I've read that book. It's amazing. I'm curious to hear what you think of it after you finish reading."

"I'll keep that in mind."

After this brief exchange of words, Rachel smiled and returned to her place. I noticed some club members looking at me, but it didn't seem like a big deal. In fact, they seemed more curious than anything else.

I was also curious about this interaction.

According to the novel's description, Rachel was supposed to be a girl with a stoic personality. She prefers to be alone and tends to say only a few words, if possible. She also speaks very little.

I certainly wasn't expecting to talk to her so soon, but it was a welcome gain.

[You gained 20 PH.]

[You gained 3 PH.]

I think the 20 PH was from the conversation in the hospital with Chae Nayun and these 3 from this little conversation with Rachel.

The PH scores I had gained were just a sign of the possibilities that lay before me. Nayun, Yeonha, Rachel... Each of them represented an opportunity, a path to be explored in search of power and influence.

Although Rachel wasn't as important to me as Chae Nayun and Yoo Yeonha, it would still be useful to make connections with her.

As I thought about it, I received some emails. Looking through my smartwatch, I immediately realized who was responsible for sending those emails.

[I hope you're enjoying this new world. Please enjoy it while you can. Although I think you already know this after facing the first 'enemy,' this 'peace' won't last long.]

A strange feeling welled up inside me.

[There's no real danger threat to the main character and the others. If the story continues like this, readers will get bored thinking, 'The main character will win anyway,' don't you think? Well, with you here, things will become very interesting.]

I looked at the last email he sent me.

[Even if things become a mess, I'll increase the power of the antagonists and change some 'details' of future episodes. All of this will be adjusted according to you, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. After all, you are the variable that will change the course of fate, the catalyst that will turn order into chaos and chaos into order. Don't disappoint me, Masterpiece.]

The real "game" was about to begin.

And it was time for me to start playing.

ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕖𝕔𝕥 𝔼𝕩𝕥𝕣𝕒

Well, that's it. What did you guys think?

That whole part in the hospital is original. Like I said in the previous chapter, I don't intend to completely change Nayun's personality so quickly, but right now, she's going through a lot involving her brother. Even if it's impossible, if a glimmer of hope arises, she'll grab onto it completely.

Because of the different way she's going to interact with Ayanokouji (different from how she acted with Hajin), the "episodes" where she'll be present are going to tend to be quite different. Yeonha isn't far from that either, because in the arc that will involve her, after it's over, she'll also start to act very differently with Ayanokouji, although she already does that currently.

This little ending with Rachel is also completely original. I don't believe she'll have a big spotlight at the beginning, because there's nothing involving her, really. However, the fact that Ayanokouji occasionally participates in the reading club might change something... who knows?

I would like to know what you thought of the AI arts I used in this chapter. This was really the best I could do XD.

Well, that's it. Let me know what you thought of this chapter.

See you in the next chapter.
