Chapter 7

Y/n's POV

I was sitting in front of my small desk staring down at a sketch I'd made earlier that morning. I wanted to do something to keep me occupied while Marion took a shower.

She'd slept at my house because her parents were fighting with her uncle last night. He didn't like me because I was a much poorer individual as was the situation with my family. Marion didn't mind and helped me and my mom with the chores around the house.

I was about to stand up when I felt Marion's soft hands move into my shirt and massage my shoulders, a moan escaping my lips.

"Feeling a little better?" She asked.

I nod as my head swivels on my shoulders as the tension slowly leaves my body.

Her hands drift lower and lower, caressing my skin as they slide down my chest. "So, what do you want to do on this lovely Saturday?"

"I-I don't....nnngh...know."

"You really like this don't you?" She asked flirtatiously.

I blush immediately causing her to stop and smile. "I shall do it more often then."

I look up at her and beg, "please don't tell anyone."

She nods and whispers in my ear. "It'll be our little secret."

She pulled away and sat on my bed, humming to herself as she messed with her hair.

I sat in place for a moment to listen, earning a soft smile.

I was truly happy, which was more than I could say for myself. I had a wonderful girlfriend that grew more and more beautiful by the passing of each day, good grades, and a growing number of friends. Now, all I need is a little height and muscle.

As I sat there, an idea popped in my mind. Well, several ideas.

"Hey, Mari."

"Hmm?"

"I know what we're gonna do today."

She smiled, her pale cheeks turning a bright rosy pink, her eyes brightening.

We would eventually find ourselves in the park, sitting on a bench watching the birds fly and frighten park goers.

Seriously, there were alot of people scared of pigeons.

I was eyeing one of the dogs at the park when I felt Marion's hand clasp my own.

"What's wrong?"

"That puppy over there looks really sad."

"What puppy?"

I pointed to the dog laying down next to a tree.

"Um...I hate to break it you, but...that's not a puppy. That's a fully grown Great Dane."

"Yeah. A big ass puppy!" I exclaimed with a smile.

Marion raised an eyebrow as she stared at me while I gave her an innocent smile.

I stood up and made my way to the pup and sat next to it. I was hesitant at first, but I started to pet it's head. It moaned sadly and placed its head in my lap. I turn to my girlfriend with a cocky smirk and watch her roll her eyes as she walks over.

"It'd be cool if I could bring you home with me. Maybe then you won't have to be so cold."

I saw their ears perk up immediately.

"So, do they have rabies, Doctor L/n?" Marion asks dramatically.

"I don't know, Nurse Williams. Would you kindly take a look at their mouth?"

Raising a raising a hand and putting her writ against her forehead, she says, "Oh I couldn't possibly do that Doctor! I wouldn't want him to bite me!"

We both suddenly burst into a fit of laughter and giggles.

When I calm down, I ask, "so, can we take Roger home?"

"Straight to it, huh?" Marion asks.

I smile sheepishly. "Please?" I ask, giving her the puppy eyes with Roger slowly raising his head under my chin and following my lead.

She groans, relenting, earning a smile and a hug from me.

"Well, looks like you have a new home, Roger!"

Roger barked happily, his tail wagging profusely.

Standing up, I turn to my girlfriend and extend my hand before Roger starts bombard Ling her face with his tongue and her giggling fills the air.

I smile before pointing and laughing. When I regain my composure, I turn to see everyone around us giving us strange looks. Even parents didn't like us, shielding their kids from us. When their kids couldn't and they could, I gave them my middle finger and earned a scowl.

On the way back home, I passed by one of the homeless people and they told me to have a nice day before mumbling something beneath his breath.

My girlfriend squeezed my hand and gave me a reassuring look. Taking a moment to take a deep breath, I squeezed hers in return. When we make it to my house with Roger, he bolts to the front yard where my parents are waiting for us.

My dad gives Roger one look and rushes toward him with a look of joy on his face as his cheeks are licked by the large dog. My mother smiles as she watches her husband play with his dog.

My dad pulls me in for a hug and says, "this is the greatest gift you've ever given me, son."

It was only later that night that I realized that we had done for my father and what Roger truly was to our family.

Marion and I would find ourselves in the movie theater later on that evening, watching a war drama/documentary called Rouge 1. It was about a French Communist fighting the Nazis in occupied France. I gave my seat to one of the other movie goers so that she could be by her mom. My girlfriend let sit on her glorious lap, letting me lay my head on her shoulder.

Throughout the entire movie, my girlfriend held me close, gently rubbing my back so that I would be confortable. I was rather scared of the explosions, shaking in her arms. To reassure me, she'd give me a gentle squeeze to le me know I was safe.

Later that night, I found myself sleeping alone. Marion went back home since her family's issues were sorted out. I was laying in my bed when Roger entered the room and laid next to me.

"Thanks, Roger."

Roger huffed softly and went to sleep as I closed my eyes. I was out like a like, sleeping quickly taking over with every second.
