Welcome, readers, to The Mermaid Disease. This has been my pet project for years now, and even though it is still not finished, I'm proud of it, rough edges and all. I really hope that you enjoy reading this retelling of Beauty and the Beast as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

To returning readers: Welcome back! Thank you for your patience. I highly suggest skimming though the "old" chapters because some parts have undergone heavy editing (example: goodbye, old prologue!). I'd love your opinions on whether these changes are good or ... not so good.

To new readers: Hi! This is version 2.0 of a sort, so if something doesn't make sense, tell me because it might have gotten lost in the editing. Oops. I never finished version 1.0 so don't hate me if updates slow down after a point. Also, comments may not line up, so keep that in mind if you are going through older comments.

To any and all readers:

-My goal is to update a least once a week, probably Fridays. But know that even if I do not update every week, I think about TMD every day and I will never abandon it.

-I'm trying to keep the swearing in this story to a minimum.

-I appreciate any feedback since I want to improve as a writer. I don't care if  you point out my grammatical mistakes, plot holes, inconsistencies, or literally anything else. One of my points of concern is character-building, so if my characters feel bland, tell me. Just, please be nice because I am a real person with feelings.
