Chapter One

**picture is of Ayla (eyeโ€ขla) played by Madison Beer and the song is Wake Up by NF. If you want to picture her a different way than you can, this is just how I picture her. Also, the song has nothing to do with the chapter but it's very connected to her personality. Enjoy!!*

"Okay, I'm home!" I called out as I ran into the garage and dumped my nearly empty back pack onto the grease and grime covered cement floor.

"Ciao! Ayla you look bellissimo!"Adelaide called, waving like a wild woman as poked her head out of Adolfo's office. He peeked his head out and rolled his eyes, huffing. He hated how I dressed.

"Grazie, Addee! You look beautiful, as always." I smiled sweetly as I took in the crimson dress that hung off her like a second skin and ended just under knees.

Let me just tell you, this woman was magnificent. She had the body of a fit teen, yet she was twice the age and had three children.

I compared the lovely italian woman's style to my own acid washed, high wasted shorts, my tight white crop top that read Bellissimo in a baby blue print and my baby blue chucks. I laughed to myself at the huge different between the two of us as she approached me, carrying one of my most favorite people in the world on her hip.

Addee and Adolfo adopted me a couple months ago after they had found me snooping around outside the shop.

I had been looking for some spare parts to pawn off so I could save up for a new place to live. After I found out my parents had passed, my brother ran off. My mom and dad were friends with Adolfo so I knew my way around the shop. What I didn't take into account were the cameras that Adolfo had installed or the fact that he usually ended up falling asleep in his office unless someone reminded him to go home. I swear that man is going to work himself to death.

Anyway, luckily Addee and Adolfo decided to not press charges on me or I would have been in some deep shit.

"Lala? Hellooooo?" Addee was waving her arm wildly around to get my attention.

I shook my head, trying to focus back on Addee. "What? Sorry Addee, I must have spaced out..." I felt my blush creep up my neck, to my face.

She shot me a playful glare. "You didn't hear a word I said, I take it."

I sheepishly shook my head, signaling that I didn't. "I asked if you could still watch this little monello for a couple days and please pick up my nephew at the airport? Adolfo and I have some business to attend to."

She used her puppy dog eyes on me and I let out a playful exasperated groan and rolled my eyes. "Of course, Addee."

She echoed my frisky smirk and handed me Angelo. He cooed gleefully, wrapping his fingers into my hair. He's my little monkey. I knew that when she said "business" that she meant that they had to meet with the Families. There was the Fafalla's which included me, Addee, Adolfo and the kids as well as Aldofo's brother and nephew in Italy. His brother was the head honcho and was hiding out while his son was coming to the states to stay with us.

Along with us, there where three other Families.ย  The Bassani, Marino, and Romano families lived all over the world and the all came from Italy, naturally. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot more Families where those came from but we were the top four. We're kind of like a council. It used to be five until my parents died. My family was second only to the Fafalla's. The Guerriero's were untouchable. My father was known as "The King of kings", the top dog.

Addee handed off Angelo while her doting husband loaded up the car. They would be back in a week, two tops. "He loves his Auntie Lala, don't you Angelo!" I cooed to the little wriggling monster in my arms and tickled his side.

"Alright my little angels, we'll be back in a few days! And Sebatiano's flight comes in at about 6! I love you both," Addee kissed both of our foreheads, leaving large irritated looking red blotches in her wake from her lipstick before continuing, "The twins are sleeping over at a friend's house so you don't need to worry about them! Ciao!"

"Ciao! Ti amo!" I waved to them as they hoped in the car. "Dire 'bye- bye', Angelo!"

"Bye!!" He said in his adorable two year old voice, waving his little fist at the car as they drove off.

I checked my phone and saw that it was already 4:45 and the airport is an hours drive so I hopped into one of Adolfo's cars after strapping Angelo into his car seat and we made our way to the airport.
