Birthday

Sorry for the late update wattpaders! Turns out, my editor doesnt have Microsoft Word anymore because of her computer problems. I had to edit this one myself, but I didn't know that, so that's why it's late. I actually had this written a week ago. Sorry again! Story:

"Um...yeah. Wow!" I stutter. This truly was a surprise.

"Happy birthday!" says Cassie coming up and hugging me.

"Yeah! Happy birthday!" says Lily with a big smile.

"Happy birthday!" Danny, Foster, and Jay say at the same time.

"Happy birthday sweetie." my mom says kissing my forehead and walking back upstairs.

"Where's Alexx?"

"Erm...uh..." stuttered Jay.

"Not coming? I see how it works. One little thing and she blows up in my face. After all these years..." I say sighing. I miss Alexx.

"Let's not dwell on that Addie." says Cassie with a sorrowful look on her face.

"Yeah. It's your birthday. Let's have some fun!" says Lilly.

Everyone agrees. "PARTY!" Jay shouts.

There is loud cheering and music is turned on. My eardrums vibrate with the bass pumping through my bones as I dance wildly. I begin to let loose and forget about all my problems. Occasionally, I say  a simple "thank you!" when people come up to me to tell me "happy birthday", but other than that I stick with my main friends. I know a lot of people here and some look extremely familiar, but I just can't exactly remember their names. Others I don't know at all.

"Hey birthday girl!" says Noah coming up to me.

"Hey Noah!" I say with butterflies in my stomach.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" he asks.

"Sure! What's up?" I ask.

"In private."

"Oh okay."

We walk out the basement doors into my backyard. It is a bit chilly and Ishiver. Noah hands me his leather jacket. Such a gentleman!

"Thanks for being here tonight! It's really nice seeing you!"

"Do you honestly think I'd miss your birthday party?"

"Nah. I just didn't see you at first."

"I arrived late."

"Oh Noah. Always trying to be fashionably late." I can see him crack a smile in the dim light. He doesn't talk for a whole, so I speak up. "So what did you need to talk to me about?"

"I just wanted to say that I'm really glad that I've been blessed with having a wonderful person like you in my life. Thank you for being you. That's all."

“Your exaggerating. You know that? Wonderful person?"

"I speak the truth." Noah says shrugging.

“Well, thank you.”

“No problem.” He says. Our eyes meet and he pulls back a piece of my hair. He leans in to me. As his lips meet mine, I can feel fireworks going off. Why was I scared to kiss this boy? It feels so natural! After a while, my arms wrap around his neck and the kiss starts to deepen.

"Noah. Stop." I whisper.

"There's something you should know."

"I think I know what you're going to tell me."

"I doubt that."

"That you like me, but you also like somebody else too. And you're having a hard time deciding between us."

"Wow."

"Dead on?"

"Yeah. And look I'm really sorry, I don't want to hurt either of you. I’m trying to figure things out as soon as possible." I explain.

"Don't worry about it. It's cool. No rush. We got time."

"You're really understanding. Thank you."

"Seems like you've been thanking me a lot tonight."

"I guess I have. There's a lot to thank you for.”

“We should go back.” He says after a moment of silence.

“Yeah,” I agree.

He goes back to open the door, but it is locked. He knocks, but no one can hear us over the loud music.

"Let's just go back around front." I suggest.

"My thoughts exactly."

We walk to the front of the house. I can't see what exactly it is, but something is in the middle of my driveway.

"What could that be?" I ask squinting.

"I don't know." Noah says.

I turn on the porch lights to find a motorcycle with a red ribbon on it.

"Oh my gosh!" I gasp.

"Is that a good 'oh my gosh'" Noah asks.

"YES!" I say coming up to him and hugging him.

"So you like it?"

"YES! Thank you so much! This is the best birthday gift ever! A motorcycle! Oh but you really shouldn't be spending all that money on me. I mean seriously. I can't accept this as much as Id love to."

"You don't recognize it?"

"Huh?" I ask confused. Then, looking closer I noticed the bike looked awfully familiar.

"This is the one you were fixing up in the garage!" I realize.

"Yepp." Noah says popping the P.

"You are the sweetest!" I say hugging Noah again and giving him a kiss on the cheek. He moves his head to the side. Our noses are brushing against each other and our faces perfectly aligned, he leans in to kiss me again when there is a throat clearing.

"James, hi!"

"Hello Addison."

"Hi, I'm Noah." says Noah extending his hand.

"Hi, I'm I don't care who you are get your paws off my girlfriend."

"Girlfriend? That's not what she says." says Noah defensively.

"Guys, guys. I've been on one date with each of you. Neither of you is my boyfriend. Okay? I have to admit I like you both, but I'm not sure who I like more. Give me some time please." I explain.

"Fine. Whatever. I just don't like sharing you with scum like him." says James.

"Scum like me?" asks Noah inching closer.

"Oh wait, I almost forgot. Your can’t be scum, you're filthy rich. You’re just a snobby, spoiled rotten brat." That earns James a punch in the face. His nose starts to ooze blood.

"Noah!" I exclaim.

"I think it's best that I leave." says Noah storming off. I watch him as he walks down the rode and rides away on his bike. He doesn't look back once.

"James! That was mean of you!"

"Sorry." he groans.

"Besides, Noah won state boxing championships in the tenth grade. Don't mess with him."

"Lesson learned." James says as he rises from the ground.

"Now let's get your nose looked at." I say leading him to the bathroom once inside.

I wipe off all the dried, crusty blood surrounding his nose. The bleeding stopped, but a nasty bruise was building.

"Just great. My face ruined." says James as he views himself in the mirror.

"It's not the bad. And it's only temporary. Can we get back to the party?" I ask.

"Yeah, yeah. I have to give you your present first!"

"You didn't have to give me anything, James." I say as we walk out of the bathroom and sit on te stairwell.

"That's what everyone says when it's their birthday. It's a code for 'get me something or you won't be invited back," James says.

"Not in my case."

"Whatever. So I can't really compete with preppy boy's motorcycle, but...here." he says.

"A donut making machine." I say trying not to drool at the mechanism information. Whoever invented this was pure genius!

"I know you’re on that whole diet thing. Sort of. Well you’re supposed to be. I’m just saying that you look perfect the way you are. I wouldn't change a thing about you." he says and I can tell he means what he says as I look into his beautiful eyes. He pulls back a strand of my hair and leans in to kiss me. Just one simple peck and he has my heart beating at a hundred kilometers per hour. He smiles at me and my lips turn upward.

"Wow. That's it? Pathetic." says a familiar voice.

"Alexx!" I scream coming up to hug her.

"Happy birthday!" she says dropping her satchel on the ground and returning the hug. She hands me a present and I set it down.

"Why are you here?" I ask.

"Did you seriously think I was going to miss my best friends surprise brthday party? Uh HELL to the NO!"

"I wasn't sure. You seemed pretty upset." I say.

"James can you leave for a second?" Alexx asks.

"Yeah sure. I'll put your gift with the rest of them." says James grabbing the wrapped present.

"Thanks darling." I say.

Alexx talks as soon as James has descended the stairs. "She told me."

"Huh?" I asked confused.

"Amber told me!"

"Told you what?" I ask still confused.

"She told me she was pregnant!" says Alexx loudly.

"Aah, childbirth a glorious thing." says my mom walking past to the laundry room with a basket full of dirty clothing.

Alexx and I giggle.

"Oh so that's why you came after all?" I clarified.

"No. I would've came anyways."

"Oh okay."

"So now I get why you're friends with her, but just know, I still despise her. With a passion."

"She’ll grow on ya."

"Highly unlikely."

"So we’re okay now?" I ask.

"Better than ever." she says smiling and giving me another hug.

"Shall we get back to the party downstairs I asked.

"We shall." Alexx replys.

We walk to the basement together.

"There you are!" says Cassie.

"Where have you been?" asks Lily.

"Come on!" says Foster.

"Lehgoo!" says Danny.

"It's cake time and I like my cake." says Jay.

"Agreed." says Danny and Foster.

"Oh. Hey Alexx." says Jag noticing his girlfriend was here.

"Hey!" says Alexx pecking him on the lips.

"Make way! Make way! Here comes the cake!" says my mom as she barges down the stairs with a large white and pink cake in her hands.

"Lookin good Addison’s mom." says James rubbing his hands together in delight. Everyone stares at him and it turns silent. "oh I didn't mean you ma'am. I meant the cake. Not that you don't look good. You look good too. Not in a creepy I-like-older-women kind of way. I mean..."

"James. All is understood." says my mother and James blushes. I can't help but laugh. My mom places the cake on a table and lights the candles. I think you can guess what happens next.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Addison, happy birthday to you!" everyone sings and I blow out the candles.

"What'd you wish for?" asks Cassie.

"I can't tell you or it wouldn't come true." I say.

My mom starts to cut the cake and pass pieces out to everyone. Of course, Jay snatches the very first piece, a corner one with lots of icing.

"Guys, I think we all know what she wished for," James says. "Me." he says pointing to himself.

"Not quite." I said giggling. Truth is, I wished for nothing. Everything is perfect the way it is.

"See you guys. I'm gonna leave now." says my mom heading back upstairs.

After I eat my piece of cake, I head over to the karoke machine. I sing some with Foster.

When I finish singing, I notice the crowd has slowly begun to deminish. Checking the time, I realize that it is very late and I'm starting to get tired.

I want to go to sleep right then and there, but that would be rude to my guests. Lucky for me, everyone leaves within the next hour except for my best girl friends.

"Can we just sleepover?" asks Lily.

"Yeah. You have your stuff from last time." I say.

"I'm gonna leave now because my stuff isn't even here. See you tomorrow girls."

"Bye!” says Alexx clearly happy to have Amber gone.

"Hey, wait. You can stay. I have an extra pair of pajamas and an unopened

Toothbrush you could use." I tell Amber.

"You sure?" asks Amber.

"No. She's not. Please leave." says Alexx.

"You can stay as long as you'd like." I tell Amber.

We get changed into our pjs and lay out some blankets on the ground in my room.

"I called a cleaning service for tomorrow by the way. The basement  is an absolute wreck." days Lily.

"Thanks!" I say already drifting asleep.

The next thing I know, I have drifted off into dreamland.
