21-Forgotten Rule

THIRD PERSON'S POV

Jake opened his eyes. For the first time, he woke up earlier than Sunghoon. Looking at the man beside him, he smiled.

'This view everyday? Wow...'

"Good morning angel."

Jake looked at him.

"You're awake?"

Sunghoon opened his eyes, smiling.

"I woke up from the feeling that someone I love is looking at me..."

Jake rolled his eyes. He sat up only to be pulled down by Sunghoon again.

"Let's get to work..."

"Let's stay here for a while."

"My beloved.... Yes you are the owner but I'm a worker so let me gooooo."

Instead of following, Sunghoon snuggled to him. Jake just gave up, his smile forming.

"Five minutes...."

Jake knew it won't be just five minutes and he's right. They ended up missing the whole morning shift.

Siofra eyed the two as they went to their hideout again. Jake walking a bit faster than Sunghoon.

"Heyyy~ Angel..... I'm sorry okay!"

Jake turned to him, pouting before he walked faster again. Sunghoon tsk-ed to himself before following.

"Angellllllll~"

Reaching their hideout, Jake just silently walked inside. Laying on their usual place, he stared at the sky.

"Angellllllllllllllll~"

Sunghoon sat beside him.

"Don't talk to me."

"Come onnnnnnnnn. It's just one shift!"

"I told you only five minutes!"

"Angel..... It's no big deal..... And besides, you also fell asleep again!"

Sunghoon reasoned out. Jake sat up and faced Sunghoon.

"You know that I can't say no to you anyway..."

Sunghoon smiled. He opened his arms and Jake knew what to do. Moving closer, he let himself feel Sunghoon's warmth on him.

"I love you my angel."

"I love you more my beloved."

"I love you more than the skies above. Ha! I did it first! You can't exceed that!"

Jake smiled in the hug. He enjoyed their closeness as he thought to himself.

'I love you more than my wings....'

Days passed in just a blink of an eye. Jake makes sure that he's spending the remaining days with Sunghoon before he would make his choice.

"Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel."

Jake shook his head. Here comes Sunghoon with his night routine. Annoy Jake before sleeping.

"What is it?"

"Why can't you leave the balcony during evening? Join me inside already."

Jake rolled his eyes. He wanted to follow him but for the past days, the Archangels told him to wait for Uriel. So here he is, waiting for the Tuesday Archangel.

"My beloved... I need to stay here for a moment okay?"

"But why can't you—"

"I LOVE YOU."

Now that stopped Sunghoon. He smiled at him before pecking Jake's cheek.

"You know my weakness.... Bad."

Jake chuckled before pushing Sunghoon inside. Like his usual, he blocked the door to stop Sunghoon from opening it.

"I am very sorry I am late...."

Jake turned to Uriel, surprised to see the Archangel tensed.

"Uriel? Is everything alright?"

"Jake. I forgot to tell you about it...."

"About what?"

Uriel walked around the balcony. With such small space, the Archangel needed to fly a bit.

"What's wrong Uriel? Is everything's alright above?"

"Jake... Have you read about the rules during missions?"

Now that Uriel has brought it up, Jake realized.

"Oh.... I haven't. But Castiel gave me notes."

"What did he told you?"

"Things like I will just be a normal human.... I won't have my wings..... I can't let them know about me being an angel—"

"THAT ONE."

Jake felt his heart race.

"Why? What's wrong?"

"Forgive me for not saying it earlier.... I was very engrossed on explaining my side to you that I had forgotten about a very major thing..."

"U-Uriel..."

"What is the name of your mission?"

"Sunghoon....."

The Archangel held Jake's hand tight before looking straight on Jake's eyes as he spoke.

"After your hundred days, you need to choose.... But before you could even choose, you need to tell Sunghoon everything. You need to tell him that you are an angel.... And he is your mission."

"Yes I know about that...."

Jake smiled. He was expecting Uriel to loosen up but the Archangel held his hand tighter.

'W-Wait....'

"You do not get it...."

Jake held his breath.

"After you tell him about everything..... He will forget you Jake.... Your memories with him will be erased."

Jake froze. Suddenly, he struggled you breathe. The blended searched for his voice.

"B-But... W-What?...."

Uriel looked at him.

"I am sure he will not forget you! Like my beloved! If he really loves you, he won't forget you! I am sure of it. Jake—"

Uriel stopped when he saw Jake tearing up.

"But what if he won't?"

Uriel shook his head. There goes his cold eyes again, warning Jake.

"HE WILL REMEMBER YOU. I am sure of it."

Grabbing him to a hug, Jake just stood there.

"He will forget me.... He will forget me.. He will forget me... He will forget me...."

"No he will not. Jake please trust Sunghoon."

He held his shoulders. Pushing him to meet his eyes.

"Look at me."

"Look at me Blended Jake Shim."

With tired eyes, Jake looked up.

"Trust Sunghoon. Believe in him. Please do not make the same mistake that I did."

Jake just stared at him eyes empty. His thoughts are nothing but Sunghoon.

'Sunghoon. Hoonie. My beloved.'

Without a word, he removed Uriel'’s hand around him. He went back inside, not minding to talk to the Archangel anymore.

Sitting at Sunghoon's side of the bed, he caressed his face.

"I can't afford to lose you...."

And there it is. For the first time, Jake let his tears fall.

"I love you so much...."

He was careful to not wake Sunghoon up. But the man stirred up before he could even realize.

"Angel?"

Hearing his voice, Jake turned around. His hand automatically went to his mouth, stopping his sobs.

"Angel what's wrong?"

Feeling him sat up, Jake hurriedly wiped his tears.

"Hey..... Look at me."

"My angel?"

Sunghoon hugged him from behind.

"Why are you crying?"

'Stop please.....'

"Nothing..."

Jake mentally groaned at his own voice breaking. Hearing sheets shuffling, he suddenly found Sunghoon in front of him.

Before he could even look away, Sunghoon held his face. His thumb brushing on his cheeks, wiping the tears.

"What's wrong?"

"Let's just sleep please?"

Jake tugged his shirt. Sunghoon sighed before pulling him on the bed.

Positioning him on his chest, Sunghoon played with Jake's hair.

“I'm here my angel...."

Jake closed his eyes. He doesn't want to think about it. But just by the thought of Sunghoon, his only beloved, looking at him like a stranger again, it breaks him.
