Chapter 2: Gordon's POV

(Gordon's POV)

I woke up one groggy morning in Tidmouth Sheds. Today's another normal day on Sodor. I was then interrupted by Azul, who seemed to have a smile on his face.

"Morning, Gordon." He smiled.

"Morning, Azul." I yawned.

I was about to say another word, when Azul said something out of the blue.

"Morning, Henry." He smiled.

"Henry?" I asked, looking confused.

"Aren't you going to say good morning to him, Gordon?" Azul asked.

"Oh, uh, morning, Henry."

I'm very confused. Why was he telling me to say good morning to Henry? Hadn't he gotten over it yet? Azul seemed a little upset. I am very very confused. What is his deal?  Azul didn't seem very happy with me still. I wonder if there's anything I can do to make it better?

Azul confronted me at Knapford Station the next day, I had a few minutes to kill before my express train; so I went to talk to him.

"Gordon, why are you and everyone else always ignoring Henry? What gives?" Azul asked.

"Um... Azul, Henry isn't here... he's not in the sheds with you." I said.

"He is. He came home from The Mainland." Azul replied, "Why won't you talk?"

"Azul, it's... it's hard to explain..." I sighed.

"Stop ignoring him. What has he done to you?" Azul said.

"Azul..."

Before I said anything else, Azul ran off, much to my surprise. Azul  seems mad. I don't get what's with him. Henry isn't around. He's been gone for a while. What is Azul seeing? Should I try and get him to a therapist or something?

That evening, I've decided to take matters into my own buffers. I went over to find Azul on a siding.

"Why'd you want him?" Azul asked.

"To do this." I replied.

I started bumping in the air where Henry was supposed to be.

"What are you doing!? Stop!" Azul pleaded.

"I'm doing this for your own good, Henry." I told him.

After a few minutes, I had stopped; Azul looked at me with tears in his eyes.

"Why... why did you do this..." Azul cried.

"Azul, Henry's gone. He's been gone for two years." I replied.

"No... he's right here." Azul cried.

I took a deep breath, "Azul... don't you remember? Henry died two years ago. He got hit by an avalanche last winter."

"N-no! He lived!" Azul protested.

"What you see isn't real. This Henry you see is fake. I'd guess you saw him still from the trauma..." I explained. "I can show you proof. Will that get you to believe me?"

I looked at Azul, I knew he had no choice but to believe me.

I'm going to take him to the scrapyard. There's no way he can deny the truth once he sees his grave.

We soon made it. I led Azul to Henry's grave. Azul read the inscription. His driver ran his hand hand over the carving. I puffed beside him and looked at him. I don't know how he's going to react to this.

"He... he died..." Azul whispered.

"Yeah... I'm sorry..." I said.

I looked over at Azul, he sobbed and sobbed. Is it ever going to end? I didn't think he'd get that upset over it.

"Shh... it's okay... it's gonna be okay, Azul..." I whispered to her softly.

"Why... why did this have to happen..." Azul whimpered.

It feels like today is the day Henry died. I guess to Azul, it does feel that way. I'll have to do my best to console him.

"Would you have rathered you had died? He saved you from being hit instead. That's why I believe you saw that fake Henry. Because that was the way you coped with the trauma of the event." I explained, "It seems you also forgot about it... didn't you?"

Azul looked down at his buffers.  "I don't remember it... I just... thought I remembered him waking up..."

"I'm sorry about this... I just... I just couldn't let you live like that..." I sighed, "What if someone tried to hurt you? People don't like other people or engines who seem crazy..."

I was really worried for a while. I hope I can help him recover from this.
