Chapter 10, The Choice

I sat in the car for a few minutes before I decided to go home.  I pulled out of the parking lot and Parker's truck was gone. He must have left when I wasn't paying attention. All I could think of on the way home was Cole and Parker. I loved both of them, but who do I love more.  Cole did rape me but did show me a place my mom loved. Parker, on the other hand, he was the first person I met here and became everything to me. After thinking all the way home I didn't notice I was sitting in my room and Cooper was waving his hand in front of my face.

"What do you want," I asked. "You just walked right passed me and I said hi," Cooper said. "Oh, I'm sorry. I must have been in my thoughts," I told him. "That's ok. How was your birthday," he asked. "Crazy," I said. "I want to hear all about it," Cooper said as he sat down next to me on the bed. "Are you sure, bud," I asked. "Yeah," he said with a smile. So I told him about everything and he thought it was the best story I ever came up with. "So is Parker coming over later," Cooper asked after I was done. "I don't know. Maybe not for a while," I told him. "How about Cole or is he still on the run," he asked. "No he is somewhere to keep him and I save," I said. "Your too young to understand this stuff, ok." "Ok," he said and run out of my room.

I wake up the next morning and pulled myself out of my bed and looked out the window to Parker's house. His truck was already gone. I looked at the clock and me ten minutes to get ready. I threw on ripped jeans and a t-shirt and run downstairs. "Good morning, sweetheart. You feel better," dad asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said grabbing some pop tarts and my essay. "Bye." I ran out to my car and drove to school.

I walked into the school by myself for the first time since the first day of school. Quinn was at my locker waiting for me. "Are you ok? I heard about yesterday," she said. "You're the talk of the school." "Great," I said. "Where's Parker. You guys always come in together," Quinn asked. "I don't know. I haven't talked to him and he was gone before I was up this morning," I said as we walked into class. "Oh, that's sad," she said. "Yeah, I guess," I said. Quinn just gave me a look.

Parker never comes into the first hour and we had our project due today. Parker finally come to English with ten minutes left of class. "Where were you," I asked when he sat down. "Lily is in the ER," Parker said. "Oh, is she ok," I asked. "Luna. Parker. Are you guys ready to go," Mr. Harris asked. "Sure," I said as we went to the front of the room.

"So, the secret I learned from Parker is that he is a singer and songwriter," I said. Parker grabbed his guitar from the hallway and sang the song he played me in the hospital. Everyone clapped for him. "Luna's secret is that she is a tomboy, but I've learned more about her the past months she has been here and those secrets are going to stay between us for as long as possible," Parker said smiling at me. "Is this the sign, universe," I asked in my head. "Thank you guys," Mr. Harris said. "You may leave now, Parker." "Where you going," I asked. "I'm going to be with Lily," he answered. "Can I come," I asked. "Come on," he said.

"So what happened," I asked when we got in the truck. "She wakes up this morning and she was vomiting. So mom took her to the ER," he told me. "I hope she is ok," I said. "Yeah me too," Parker said as we pulled into the ER parking lot. We got out and ran inside. Parker tried to talk to the nurse at the desk, but she didn't see him. "Sr," I said to a doctor who came out of a room. "Yes, ma'am. Can I help you," the doctor asked. "Could you help me find Lily Ross," I asked. "Yes, give me one second and I will find her,"  he told me. "Parker," I yelled. He was still trying to talk to the nurse. "What," he said turning around. "I found someone to find Lily," I told him. "Ma'am," the doctor said. "Yes," I said as Parker walked up next to me. "Lily Ross is in room 420. It's on the 4th floor and the when you get off the elevator it is the 10th room on the right," he explained. "Thank you," we both said.

We walked into Lily's room and a nurse was talking to her. Ivy got up and walked over to us. "Can I talk to in the hall, please." "Sure," Parker said. They walked into the hallway and I went to sit by Lily. She seemed happy to see me. "How you feeling, sweety." "Fine, I guess. I do feel better than this morning," Lily told me. The nurse left and I could hear yelling coming from the hallway caught my ear. "Why would you bring her here," Ivy yelled. "She wanted to see Lily," Parker said. "Why? She barely knows her," she said. "So she is still wanted to see her," he said. "Whatever," she said and walked backed into the room. I got out of the chair so Ivy could seat down and she gave me a dirty look.

My phone started to ring and everyone gave me a look. I was going to decline it but the number looked familiar. "I have to take this," I said stepping into the hall. "Hello," I said. "Luna Evans," the voice asked. "Yes, this is she," I said. "We would like you to come to the police department, right away, please," the sheriff told her.
