Chapter 5 - "Besides, I don't even know his name."

Kylan had a pounding headache when he woke up the next day, and unfortunately, since the party had been on a Sunday night, it was Monday morning. It always happened this way, which was horrible, but the party had been insane. He did not remember much, but his lower back and behind were incredibly sore, that he was not too sure what to think. He scratched the back of his head, and heard soft snores beside him; he was not surprised to find Ella sleeping beside him. They had school, and he nudged her, waking her before descending from the bed with aches in his back. He could not exactly remember what had occurred the night previous, and headed the the bathroom.

Someone had taken out his contacts, and he assumed it was Ella, since there was no way he would have done it. He felt a disdain taste of alcohol in his mouth that he rapidly needed to get rid of. He reached the sink, and grabbed his toothbrush, instantly brushing his teeth in hopes to get rid of the taste. However, as he started thinking, he attempted to remember what had happened the previous night. He remember taking the cab, arriving to the party, walking around with Ella, greeting Micky. Then, the pictures he was seeing blurry became visible, and he began connecting the images in his mind. As he slowly began remembering the details of the night, his body froze for a second.

Ella left, and he danced with Jasmine, finished his bottle, attempted to find a bathroom but entered a room instead. That room had Jonah standing inside, but he could not exactly remember what he had said to him. However, one thing he for sure did remember, was the reason why he was sore, and he instantly spat out the toothpaste from his mouh and raced to the exit of the bathroom, screaming, "I had sex with Jonah!"

Ella's head flew up from the pillow, and she turned to Kylan, whose face was pitch red with widened eyes and gaping mouth. He was standing in shock, fear, uneasiness and anxiety to see him today. He wished he could remember what he had said, and if he had embarrassed himself, but one thing was certain, they had sex. Although the idea was not exactly repelling, it was simply awkward and unbelievable, that it made him tremble. It was a good thing yes, but he was afraid of seeing Jonah today.

Ella raised her eyebrows, "What are you talking about?"

"I had sex with Jonah," he screamed again, and Ella's eyes widened.  When she went to find Kylan at the end of the party, she was confused as to why Jonah had carried him to the cab. It had been a struggle to help him up the stairs when they arrived home, but she did see it as odd when Jonah helped her, and was being extremely nice.

She jumped to her feet, "Oh my god! What did I tell you? He's gay."

"He's not gay, Ella."

"Then why did he have sex with you—"

"I have no fucking idea," he replied stressfully, "but I'm not going to school today."

"Why not?" she frowned, pulling her hair into a bun and following him into the bathroom. She had her belongings there as well, and grabbed her toothbrush.

He raised his eyebrows, "Because it's awkward. I'm changing schools."

"Calm down, I had sex with boys before whom I was shy with. You have to deal through it," she added maturely.

He shook his head rapidly, "I don't want to."

"Well, that's the real world. Now, get dressed, take a few Tylenol's and face him like a man."

With a groan, Kylan exited the bathroom and headed for his closet. He wished he could have stopped himself yesterday, and cursed under his breath at how unpredictable and insane he became as he drank. He had glazed through that bottle as if it was water, which Ella had warned. However, he never thought that he would have to face Jonah, a man that many girls followed everywhere. It had been pure luck that he was in that room, which he slapped his forehead for; why couldn't he have found the bathroom? As he grabbed his closest pair of sweats and his blank shirt, he exited the closet with sweats and a shirt for Ella, whom cleaned her face and stripped herself of her dress to put on his clothes. They descended from the bedroom, and she hurried to the kitchen to grab a few snacks.

"I'll buy lunch for us today," he said, placing on his shoes before finding his glasses that were on the couch. He hurried outside, and Ella grabbed her keys, storming outside the home after him and jumping in the driver's seat. She sped down the road to reach the high school, and when they did, not one student was outside. They both cursed, and she frantically parked, Kylan exiting the vehicle first and racing to the doors. The announcements were playing, and it just ended when they entered the school. Kylan's classroom was not far, therefore he sprinted to the door and waved at a sprinting Ella before pushing open the door to the classroom.

Professor Miller raised his eyebrows, tilting his glasses as he said, "You're late, Mr. Burkens."

"I'm really sorry, I slept past my alarm—"

"Which is an absurd reason to arrive late to my class. I will let you off with a warning this time, but the next time, you will have to go get a late slip," he hissed.

Kylan apologized once more, before being ushered to his seat. He raised his eyes and found Jonah, but Jonah was looking elsewhere, as if he was avoiding his gaze. He did not exactly hate that, since meeting his eyes would merely cause his entire face to run a wild red. Therefore, he grabbed his seat in the back row, and sat quietly, shuffling in his seat as his body ached even more being seated in that hard plastic chair.

As he shuffled, his chair making squeaking noise, Professor Miller raised an eyebrow, "Do you need help getting comfortable Mr. Burkens?"

Kylan's flustered face turned slightly pink in embarrassment, as he shook his head and lowered his eyes. A few kids snickered, which he hated, but Jonah didn't. Surprisingly, Jonah did not exactly say anything the entire class, neither did he smile. Rather, he remained quiet, listened, took the notes he needed and when the bell rang, stood to his feet and left.

As they headed to P. E class, he did not even show up. He left the school district, and Kylan sighed, his eyes continuously searching throughout the crowd but not finding him. The weird occurrences did strike him as odd, and it was only when they exited gym class and marched through the halls to reach his locker, that he saw Jonah entered the school with a few of his friends, laughing with them as the walked. Kylan felt his body tense a bit, since he needed to cross path with them, and lowered his eyes, discreetly glancing towards him. However, when Jonah passed him without bearing him in mind, Kylan was a bit confused. He thought that he would at least glance in his direction, or maybe even wave a small greeting. However, Jonah did not even look at him; it caused Kylan's heart to clench, and he headed to the fountain near the cafeteria.

When Ella heard that, she tightened her knuckles, cracking his fingers before standing to her feet and searching for Jonah throughout the cafeteria. Kylan leaped for her wrist, "It's not worth it, please sit down. People are beginning to stare."

"You can't just have sex with someone then act as if they don't exist," she hissed between gritted teeth, but returned to her seat and eating the fries Kylan had bought. "He literally used you for sex."

Kylan's shoulders fell as he sighed, "I know."

"You should talk to him," she said.

He shook his head immediately, "No, it's fine. I'll try to forget about it." The depressive atmosphere surrounding Kylan was one thing she could not stand, but comforting him was her first priority. She wanted to put Jonah in a headlock at the moment, but remained calm and collected as that was what Kylan wanted at the moment. However, it was no surprise when after the last bell rang, she leaped through the halls and rapidly found Jonah by his locker with his friends.

She tapped his shoulders, and he glanced over his shoulder with pure boredom in his face. Even her standing there did not alter his features, and he raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"

"I need to talk to you."

He frowned, "About what?"

"Squirm off," Bradley commented, and the dirty glare Ella sent him caused him to frown, unsure whether it was simply a tough attitude or if she was literally tough.

Ella returned her focus to Jonah, "Do you want me to say it out loud? It might be a revelation you may not want people to know."

When Jonah realized what she was talking about, he shook his head and said, "I'll catch up with you guys later."

Bradley groaned, "We have practice—"

"I'll be there late, tell Coach." Before Bradley could protest even more, Jonah began marching away from him, and Ella followed him into a classroom, and closed the door behind them. He then sighed, and sat on a desk, crossing his arms. "Talk," he motioned, and Ella was close to simply rip his eyeballs from his sockets. She wanted to beat him up so bad that he would never even dare to glance in the direction of Kylan.

She narrowed her eyes, "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

He frowned in confusion, "What did I do?"

"You had sex with my friend."

He raised an eyebrow, looking away for a moment with confusion before returning his gaze at me. After a few seconds of silence, with Ella intensely scowling at him, Jonah asked, "What exactly did I do wrong?"

"You had sex with him," she hissed, "and now you just act like he doesn't exist."

He chuckled, "We were never friends to begin with."

"So you were just using him?"

After rolling his eyes, he stood from the desk, "Take it as you want it, but it was just sex, it's not as if we said we'd start talking or something. He's the one that told me he liked me."

"Well, at least have the decency to act as if it fucking meant something."

He frowned, "You sound like a lunatic girl best friend; why should I when it didn't?" She gasped in shock, and he shook his head, "I never said I liked him. I told him that I'm not gay. And said that I'd like to try it with him once, and see if I liked it." He brushed past her with an annoyed stare, and headed towards the exit, "Unfortunately I didn't like it. You can't hate me for being honest. Besides, I don't even know his name."
