Chapter 105 - If she died, so would he

All of the dragons were baffled as the monster's wounds were filled and Seraphina was in it. Demian went toward the chest as fast as he could but the giant was defensive again.

As if Demian was losing his mind, he kept attacking it and unless he passed through its chest, he wouldn't stop. He was afraid that the clay would try to suck her dry and it made him more offensive. His claws were digging off the monster's defense. The other dragons were trying to save him when the giant tried to attack Demian.

Billard roared as if he was telling to get back but Demian couldn't hear or he wouldn't want to listen.

Billard went near and with his head, he pushed Demian away from the monster but Demian came back again.

However, before they could reach the giant, the monster stopped all of a sudden. His movements were still as his body shook from inside and Sakina ran toward the edge as Reginald went near. She jumped and hopped on Reginald's back as they flew away from it.

All of the dragon's could feel that something was happening to it as they backed away.

The giant cried and through his eyes, ears, nose and mouth a blue light was coming out. Soon the light turned into flames as it screamed in agony and the blue flames started to burn him from inside as it came out from his eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

The monster could not move and its scream died down as if someone had turned off its switch. Its belly started to grow big. Soon all of its body started to grow bigger and bigger and Prince Billard roared to tell everyone present there to step back.

The soil started to turn into solid clay and cracks appeared on it as it grew bigger. And a destructive sound resonated from it as it blew away from inside. The blue flames burned through the sky as the giant blasted to small pieces.

Slowly the whole body fell on the ground in larger to smaller clays and they noticed Zekalis's body was burning as well. The clay pipes which were attached to him were all burning with the flames thus the giant could not regenerate itself anymore.

Billard went toward his army and saw everyone moved farther as they saw the giant blasting away. He was glad they weren't injured unnecessarily. As he roared to his dragon men. All of them followed him including Reginald as they joined the army. All of them turned back to their human forms and they were all exhausted and wounded. Billard saw Demian going to the place where the giant's body fell.

Billard turned back to his human form as he ordered, "Go to Prince Demian and search for Princess Seraphina."

As Demian's Dragon form landed on the surface, he turned back to his human form but it wasn't the fourteen-years-old Demian anymore. His body had grown to an adult man who was the same height as Billard. He had short hair as he had in his child form with deep blue eyes but the boyish face he had all gone.

He saw Zekalis's body was burning in her blue flames but he was conscious. As he went near, Zekalis said with a laugh that pained him from his insides, "She is dead. Thus, I have won."

Demian's half naked body shook with anger and pain as he clenched his fists while the dragon army appeared behind him including Master Valentine and Prince Billard.

His pain of losing Seraphina could be felt from afar as Master Valentine froze and Prince Billard shouted once again, "Find Princess Seraphina now!"

Demian wanted to kill the man who laid down half dead along with the giant's clay boulders. He wanted to punch him, torture him but what for?

Seraphina was gone and he couldn't find her.

Reginald shouted as he was supported by one of the Dragon Guards, "Princess Seraphina is not dead yet."

Demian snapped his head toward him as he assured, "I still can sense a faint life in her. She is there."

Reginald pointed at the pile of clay as all the Dragon Guards went there hurriedly as well as Demian, Prince Billard and Master Valentine.

General Houjou and his men were busy capturing the wizards who ran away before the castle ground started to suck their life force. And he had been excellent in his work.

The Guards kept digging and digging and digging and soon found a hand. And without a doubt, it was Seraphina's hand.

Demian pushed the guards away as he started to dig with other men and soon, they dug out her full body while Demian held her in his arms and pulled her out from the hardened clay.

"Seraphina!" He called but she didn't answer.

Seraphina was unconscious as Demian kept calling her name while tears ran down on his face and Billard and others approached him slowly. Billard was happy that the curse Demian had bearing was lifted but as he saw the laying body of Seraphina he felt sad.

Demian looked at his brother with a pair of teared eyes as he pleaded, "Please, save her."

He didn't want anything but her. He felt his heart was shattering into pieces as Seraphina's injured body laid motionless in his arms. He would not be able to live if something happened to her. If she died he would die too.

Master Valentine took off his rob and wrapped it around Demian as he knelt beside him and said, "We need to hurry and get back to the castle if we need to save her."

Prince Billard had never seen his dear brother crying for someone. He had never cared but it melted his heart that it was Seraphina who changed him.

He ordered, "Prepare the ride for the wounded ones."

The men hurried while Demian looked at Master Valentine, "How-how will I live if something happened -"

"Shush," Master Valentine patted Prince Demian's shoulder as he said, "Seraphina is a strong woman and you know that better than anyone. Nothing would happen."

Demian smiled as somehow he felt relieved and soon he fell unconscious beside his beloved wife when both Master Valentine and Prince Billard panicked.

Prince Billard growled in anger as he again ordered his men to make the rides fast while they carried two unconscious people.

The war between wizards and dragons might have gone on for many years but the love between a wizard and a dragon carved into everyone's mind that day. Nobody ever heard or think of such a forbidden love but everyone gave in when they witnessed Demian's and Seraphina's love for each other.

Seraphina opened her eyes and bright rays of sun fell on her eyes as she sat up blinking her eyes and found herself in the garden of her guild, Arctic Flames.

When did she arrive here? She thought but then she recalled she was fighting with that giant monster. Was it defeated? And where was Demian? She felt panic flooding in her.

She stood up and looked around to ask someone but it was strange as no one was there. The surrounding felt almost translucent and there was an eerie silence dominating the whole garden. There was no sound of birds, winds. The leaves weren't moving either and it made her stomach tied into a knot. The quietness of it was almost deafening that it suffocated her.

Then she recalled her energy was exhausted at the end when she poured all of her fire on Zekalis. She was on the verge of dying.

Tears ran down from her eyes as she cried because she missed Demian. She wanted to tell him that she loved him but now she couldn't because she was dead.

"Are you sure you are dead?" A voice asked startling her. She moved her eyes but she couldn't find anyone except the unsettling quietness.

She looked again and found a woman standing afar in a white gown. She had curly red hair but her eyes were brown. Her aura felt very familiar yet she couldn't recognise her. She came near and smiled.

"Who are you?"

"Mm..." the beautiful woman hummed and said, "Jord must have never given you my photo."

Seraphina was puzzled but then she realized who it was. She cried and hurried toward her and wrapped her hands around the beautiful lady as she buried her face on the woman's shoulders. The woman embraced her and said, "Don't cry, Seraphina."

"Mom!" more tears streamed as she sniffed.

Her mother said, praising her as she patted her head, "You did great, Seraphina. I am so proud of you."

"But I have only messed up," she mumbled on her mother's shoulders with a defeated voice.

"If you were messed up then you couldn't have saved Demian."

"How do you know him?"

"I have been watching you through the flames." Her mother smiled as Seraphina looked at her mother questioningly and the beautiful flames started to appear around them.

"Y-you were?"

She nodded, "I was and I will forever."

"But father hates me now..." Seraphina said with a sad face.

"Your father could never hate you, Seraphina. He loves you the most. He put the sealing on you because he only wanted to save you." Her mother added, "You were becoming uncontrollable and you were hurting the innocents which would end up killing you as well."

She continued, "The seal was broken because of your will to save Demian. Only a true love can break the seal because you wanted the power to save another being, the seal broke. Whether it was a love for people or a love for your guild or love for Demian"

Your powers were never gone. It was always with you and now that you have learnt powers are meant to protect others without harming them, your flames can only harm your enemies but not your friends. But you can't always rely on it; however, you can rely on yourself."

Her mother touched Seraphina's forehead with her own forehead and said, "You were so weak when you came to me that I was scared I would lose you."

Seraphina listened as she felt her mother's warmth.

"I had no choice but to give you all my powers."

Seraphina looked up at her with wide eyes as she continued, "Your father didn't want to perform the ritual but I begged him because I would die if something happened to you."

Seraphina's tears came down on her own as she asked, "Wh-what do you mean?"

"The ritual of transferring one's powers to another one. It kills the one who gives their power to another being. That is why this is forbidden magic."

Seraphina looked at her wide-eyed as she recalled Zekalis doing it. "So, it was because of me you died?"

Her mother shook her head while smiling happily, "It made me save you forever. You were never the cause of my death, you were my precious daughter and no mother can watch their own flesh dying in their hands."

Her mother took her cheeks in both of her hands and said, "I love you Seraphina, and I will forever save you."

As her mother's touch started to perish, Seraphina cried and asked with sniffing, "What am I gonna do now that the dragons know who I am?"

Her mother smiled and she said, " Do what the flame queen would have done in a situation like this."

As soon as she perished, Seraphina woke up and found herself in her room in the dragon castle. The same room where she had been so used to it that she couldn't forget it.

As she was about to sit, a familiar voice scolded her, "Don't you dare sit now, young woman!"

She smiled as she had missed those scolding for so long. She looked at the small human beside her bed, standing with a red nose and puffy eyes. Although she was glaring at her, she could notice how scared she was.

"Celia..." Seraphina smiled and Celia started to cry as she complained, "How could you be so reckless! You damn woman! If you had died, I would have killed you."

Seraphina chuckled which made Celia growl in anger but she kept sniffing. "You were almost gone for a week!"

Celia was still crying as she said, "If it weren't for the blue flames covering your heart, you could have died long ago."

A week... Seraphina thought. The blue flames covered his heart to save her. She knew well who it was. It was her mother.

She looked at Celia and asked, "What about Demian?"

"The Young Prince is safe and healthy. Because of his transformation, his injuries were healed in two days."

Seraphina nodded as relief spread on her chest.

"But Prince Demian wouldn't come out of his chamber and he stayed mostly there."

Seraphina was worried about why Demian didn't come out. Wasn't his transformation complete? What about the curse?

She got worried as she wanted to go see Demian and was about to sit up when Celia scolded her again, "No! If you set your feet out of this room, I will personally tie you up with ropes."

Celia looked scared as Seraphina chuckled nervously.

Celia said before leaving, "Let me inform Master Valentine and Prince Billard because they were really worried."
