standing on a river bank, that held more memories than the grass seeds that passed through the air, ghosts on a breeze driving through the teenagers hair, she stood like a silhouette figure on the river bank not touching the water her eyes mirroring the dark clouds rolling over the horizon, it wasn't the storm that was slowly nearing the peaceful spot like most things seem to come out of no where yet you expect it to happen, it was that one a day much like this one was when the story began.
"See Jenna, I tolled you I saw a river !" it was the childish hopes and a fairytale imagination to the new arrivals at the s mall sleepy town, two sisters hade taken in upon them self's to explore the wilderness out back of their neighbor hood when the youngest of the pair spotter a twisting river that hade to be seen.
Morgan wrapped her arms around herself and shut her eyes, taking a step back she knew what would happen if she came home to this town, yet she hade to it was like falling into a trap that was harder then quicksand to escape from, the small over grown path lead back to the town, wild flowers grew freely along the way, Morgan couldn't stop herself from reaching down and touching one of the colorful plants her slightly tanned skin stroked over the delicate violet peddle.
"Do you think we can made crowns form the flowers?" The younger girl asked with honey colored hair, her small clumsy fingers tipping at the wildflowers,
"Don't be silly they have thorns and the fairies would need them to make their dresses with" Jenna replayed the always knowing older sister amazed the younger one.
Morgan hade left this small town a few years back hopping that she would not have a reason to turn it, that was until she received an invitation to a wedding, s smile formed over her lips- not that she would have bothered if the invitation did not come a long with a old child hood bet.
the towel hade quiet a few historical houses and mot match of the modern life to be found here at a time Morang didn't mind it, she was to busy being child with her friend to pay attention to the coming of gave stuff like - internet, the new DVDs or what gadgets that was classed as mast have.
Morgan ran her fingers slowly throw her hair, an old habit to put it into place, even when there is something wrong with her hair, The sun was slowly setting casting a orange and pink infused sky across the small town of River-Haven.
"Sorry love" a finger tapped on her shoulder, making the young woman heart give a slight kick, making her turn around her eyes wide to see where the slightly creaking voice game form but who she saw, toke about 10 minutes before she recognized the wrinkled face, the elderly woman hade piecing blue eyes, eyes that could see throw your soul but only kindness filled them her face showed her face yet she hade a liveliness about her.
"Mrs Darcy" Morgan said with a uplifting tone, watching the old lady also smile clearly happy to be recognized by one of the towns former citizens.
"Why for a moment I didn't think you would recognize me love, it has been so long but i knew it was you" she went on in the way that only a woman of years of experience of silencing others could " I said to Logan this morning I hade a good feeling about to day and look who I see walk past all in her day dreams, you always where a day dreamer Morgan McNairy" It was hard to focus on the old lady's talking, ash she could go on for ages, Mrs. Darcy was a daring yet she did love to tell stories then for get what the point was, but when she mentioned Logan, another small kick came to Morgan's heart.
"Logan? is he still in town" Morgan interrupted the wise woman's story about when she was 6 year sold and tried to sell mud cakes at the lemonade stand. The old woman could write several books on her and her grandson adventured alone.
"What's that dear?" Mrs. Darcy said as if she did not hear a thing throw her talking, it only made Morgan feel slightly self counties to ask once again, silly like a school girl asking about a crush - which of cores was ridicules there was nothing between her and Logan.
"Logan, your grandson you mentioned something about him" Morgan said before she nibbled on her lower lip and tried again at her inquiry " Is he still in town?" Why was it so hard to ask about him ? She was here for the wedding and for the Bet that they have made as children one that didn't seem to leave her mind even when Morgan was busy driving in the big city when she hade pushed hard and spent so much over time to become a success in the back of her mind she remembered..
His big blue eyes looked towards her in show, Oh Logan hade such emotion filled eyes much like his grandma "Are you okay now Morgan?" the brave boy asked and he pulled her towards him sheltering her body with his own, the cold air was all around them her cloths where socked cold against her skin a shiver ran down Morgan's skin witch Logan quickly rubbed his hands over her arms. The boy looked down at her with concerned expression, in the distance she could hear her sisters voice calling her name.
"you know if you keep that up we wont be able to be best friends forever if you drown, your such a klutz" Logan creaked a grin
IT was one of those days that would be burned into her memory forever, it toke a moment to realize that Mrs. Darcy was still talking about her cat and how the weather was affecting scruffy hair, frustration was starting to built until finely Morgan admitted defeat against the old ladies endless stories that went all around her point. "Thank you, I hope you have a nice day and give my best to your grandson' Morgan made her exit.
Was Logan in town ? or hade he finely up it behind him? he would have to be here for the ending of the bet ? It was a promise among two kids that thought they would never grow up. But after all this years she cant forget him, ever since they where kids se stuck by him whilst her older sister started to take interested in other things such as designer clothing and the ever important of a boyfriend in junior high , Morgan was still fascinated with Logan and he seemed to be the same with her they would do what she liked picking wild flowers after they would do what he enjoyed fishing or racing law mores, they where almost inseparable until the day when small things started changing between them.
