Bonus Chapter: Kissing Kane

Authors note:

Thanks for the requests, everyone! I had a couple different ones, and I had a hard time choosing which one. Some of my favorites were:

A flashback of Gunner's past with his parents and sister

A peak into Kane's past

So, here goes my number one choice!

Enjoy!

"LOL, today you said hi to me and I died." -Unknown

May 18, 2007

I shove my books in my locker, grab out my wallet, and look at the sticky notes hanging on the inside of it.

'You're so cute it's distracting. -Kane'

Is what the note read. You see, Kane Johnson stole my sticky notes from my locker the other day and wrote on the first like... 10 sticky notes different pickup lines and cute little sayings. He is just so dreamy.

But, he is also a year older than me, and is getting ready to graduate this year.

I gazed at them for a moment, imagining the what-ifs of him dating me. Then, I felt someone squeeze both of my sides, tickling me, making me jump and drop my wallet.

"AHH!" I screech, and whip around to find Mia doubled over laughing. "You little b*!@#." I snap.

I hear a gasp and look over to see one of the teachers at the school (who luckily I don't have so they don't know me) is glaring at me.

"Do you want a lunch detention?" She snaps at me and I pale.

"N-no, I'm sorry." I stutter out, and glare at Mia. The teacher walks away and I bow my head down. I feel swift movement behind me and suddenly, my wallet is dangling in front of my face.

"You dropped something, my dear." He says in a sexy voice. I chuckle and go to grab it away from him, chuckling.

But, as you can imagine, he lifts it above his head, and there is no way in hell I can reach. You see, I'm 5'2", while Kane is easily 6' tall.

I jump up and he laughs.

"C'mon short stuff, let's get some lunch." He says, walking away, still holding my wallet. Mia and I quickly follow behind, and head to lunch. We have open lunch, and our school is in town so we can walk to a couple of different places. We catch up to Kane and his friends and a few more of Mia and I's friends join in. We walk towards the ice cream place, which Kane knows is my favorite, and everyone is simply chatting. When no one is paying attention, I turn to Kane.

"Can I pretty please with a cherry and some caramel on top have my wallet back?" I ask, fluttering my eyelashes.

"I don't think so, short stuff." He responds, and I roll my eyes.

"I hate you." I snap, crossing my arms and huffing. Mia leans towards me.

"Sure you do." She whispers, and I feel my face heat up. I stomp sideways onto her foot, causing her to yelp.

"You freaking little-" Mia starts but I glare at her. She knows she deserves it. We were the first people at the ice cream place, and I order my food and turn to ask Kane for my wallet to pay.

"Make that two of what she's having, please?" He asks the worker who nods.

"Alright, $5.25 please." She tells us, and I reach for my wallet.

"No, I got this." Kane answers, pulls out his wallet, and pays for the food. My jaw drops and I blush.

"You didn't have to do that." I tell him. He chuckles, and instead of responding to my question, he changes topic.

"Are you enjoying my sticky notes?" He asks and I roll my eyes.

"They are cheesy and weird... just the way I like it." I respond and he smirks.

"Are they working?" He asks.

"Nope." I respond, popping my 'p.'

We all sit at a large table outside of the ice cream place. All ten of us.

Mia's flavor of the week, aka some guy that doesn't get along with the rest of us named Mikey, comes by and pinches her butt. She gasps and turns around and glares at him.

"What, you have a nice a@!?" He defends, and I just want to smack him. One of the guys named Cole from the table stands up and steps towards Mia's boyfriend.

"Are you always such a jerk?" Cole snaps. Mikey chuckles.

"This is my girlfriend, if I want to grab her a@#, I can." Mikey responds in an rude tone.

"You really are a dick. Respect women, don't treat them like objects." Cole tells him and shoves him a bit. Mikey steps towards Cole quickly, and before a fight can break out, I stand up and step between them.

"Whoa whoa whoa, guys, this is unnecessary." I say, and they both stare at me. Mikey chuckles.

"Jesus Christ, Mia, your friends suck. We're over." He walks away simply. Dick.

Mia chuckles as we sit around the table and I just tilt my head at her.

"Thanks guys, but I am glad that's over." Mia tells us all, and we all chuckle and go back to shoving our faces.

It was silent until we finished eating.

We headed back towards the school to sit in the main hallway. It was a large hallway that everyone congregated to and waited for the lunch period to end. I was beginning to sit down when everyone seemed to disperse.

Kane's friends all looked at one another and Cole stepped forward.

"We are going to work on this assignment for this one class we have to do. Catch up later." He told us, and took off. My girlfriends said they have to go to the bathroom, and took off, and Mia... well, being Mia...

"Hey, I have to... you know... leave you two alone." Mia says and takes off, leaving Kane and I.

I roll my eyes and slowly turn to look at Kane. He is chuckling under his breath, shaking his head.

"Why do they do this?" He asks, and I shrug.

"Because they are jerks." I respond. He nods in agreement and we both sit down.

"One day, you will be mine. You know that, right?" Kane says suddenly, making me freeze.

"W-what?" I stutter and he smiles.

"I mean; I will marry you. It's that simple." He responds and my mouth hangs open. He reaches up and brings my jaw to my mouth. "Don't do that, you'll catch flies."

I roll my eyes and glare at him.

"I told you, we can't happen. I am a junior, and stuck in this hellhole, and you are a senior who is graduating in less than a month and moving on. You will forget me, I'm telling you." I respond, looking down, knowing it's the truth. He tilts my head up with his finger.

"I seriously doubt that would ever happen." He responds, staring into my eyes. I blush and avert my gaze to realize we were quite secluded where we were. Nobody could even see us in the bend of the hallway we were in.

"Kane, like I said, we aren't meant for each other. In due time, you will find someone better than me, marry her, and only remember me from the yearbooks." I tell him and he grips my chin again.

"No." He responds and pulls my chin towards him and his face nears mine.

Then.

Our lips.

Collide in a frenzy.

Just kidding, our lips touched ever so lightly, it felt like a feather.

Just as quickly as it happened, it was gone.

"Don't forget that." He whispers, and the bell rings. He stands up, reaches his hand out and I take it, as he lifts me to my feet. Our bodies touch softly and I pull away quickly, walking away as quickly as I could to my class.

Our relationship after that lunch was very... awkward.
