#3 It Isn't Me

I would watch him look at our wedding photo framed on the wall every day. It was the one we took as a family. His family and mine. He would look at it in awe, and regret, and I knew that he wasn't looking at me in the photo.

I knew that because once, when he didn't know I was there, I saw him reach out to caress the photo. Only, it wasn't me. I was the girl next to me. It was my sister.

I had always known that he had a bit of a crush on her, but I thought it had passed. It had been 10 years for crying out loud! And he still looks at her every day. They had never meant to be in laws, they had always seen each other as lovers. But the wedding proposal went to the wrong Fernandes, and here I am.

I love him with all my heart, but I guess I'll never be that for him.
