Episode 01 - The Great Force of Nature! Cure Lightning Strikes In!

It was a perfect day outside. The sun was shining on the grassy green field outside the school. A large crowd was forming while the school's soccer team practiced. Girls were cheering, some boys were also there cheering their classmates on. But there was one girl who stood out from the rest. She was the one everyone was watching.

A girl of average height began sprinting around her teammates in an attempt to get ahold of the ball. She had brown hair tied in a ponytail and bright emerald green eyes. She'd probably be considered really plain looking to most but she got along with more or less everyone in her class and was easy to become friends with too. She continued running when she finally was in control of the ball. And lucky for her, she had an open shot of the goal. She kicked the ball directly into the goal leading to an uproar in the crowd.

"Yay~! It went in!" She shouted in excitement as she quickly ran over to get a drink of water. She pulled a water bottle out of her bag and chugged it until it was halfway empty.

"Wow Sora! That was such a great move!"

"Teach me how to do that!"

"You're so cool!!!"

The shower of compliments wasn't anything new to Sora, but she still appreciated it anyway. She did have a pretty impressive practice after all, and now she could go home and enjoy the rest of her day.

Everyone else began to take their stuff and leave the field to go change back to their normal school uniforms. Sora quickly changed into her school uniform and as a result, she looked a bit sloppy. Her shirt's buttons were uneven, her tie wasn't all the way tied, and her socks weren't rolled all the way up.

"Sora, you're really going to go home like that?" Sora's friend Izumi teased. Izumi's sister Miyuki joined with the others.

"What? No of course not! I can fix it no problem!" Sora laugher awkwardly as she fixed her uniform.

"Heeeey Sora, you're forgetting something." Miyuki pointed at Sora's hair that was still in a ponytail.

"What is it?! For once I thought I didn't forget something!!" Sora briefly panicked before she caught her reflection in a small mirror nearby. "Ohhhhhh my hair! Haha! Silly me!" Sora pulled out her hair tie, letting her brown hair down. Her hair was relatively short, just a little above her shoulders. Not to mention, her hair was super choppy and messy but she liked it that way so it didn't matter that much to her.

"There we go, much better! Now, shall we go?" Sora picked up her bag and put it on her shoulder, she looked at Izumi and Miyuki, signaling that she was ready to walk home with them. Just as they began walking out of the school, Sora noticed a girl who was still there taking care of some flowers out front. Without even thinking, Sora approached this girl. She recognized her from class, she was tall with long auburn hair worn down. She also had two small pink ribbons tied in her hair. The girl looked at Sora with a confused expression. Her eyes were a really soft caramel brown kind of color, Sora could tell this girl was shy but sweet.

"Hey, I know it isn't my business, but what are you doing here?" Sora asked the girl. The girl flinched a little bit, she was clearly startled by Sora's question, or maybe she was startled by the fact that someone was talking to her.

"Oh me? Oh... I was just finishing up watering these flowers! I could tell that they needed a little more water before I left today. Sorry if I was bothering you at all." The girl responded, she smiled awkwardly at Sora who began to feel bad for interrupting her.

"Oh I see! Sorry to bother you!" Sora began to laugh nervously as she waved to the girl before walking away with Izumi and Miyuki.

"Do you guys know who she is? I see her around a lot, I'm pretty sure she's in our class, right?" Sora looked at both her friends, hoping at least one of them would answer her question.

"That's Emiri Tomoe, she is in our class." Izumi answered, just before Miyuki chimed in.

"Yeah, she's a bit shy but she seems very sweet! She cares a lot about the earth and flowers, and she's pretty smart too! I wonder if she could help you with homework Sora, your grades surely need that boost!"

"I'm not that stupid!!" Sora pouted as Izumi and Miyuki laughed. "Wait, did we have homework tonight? I could've sworn we did!"

"Yes we do, and considering how late it is, I have no idea how much time we have to do it before going to sleep." Miyuki sighed.

"AHHHH! Crap! I was hoping we wouldn't! Ughhh I don't want to do it at home! I doubt I'd get it finished by dinner time..." Sora continued pouting for a moment, before she came up with another idea. A surprisingly good one too. "Ooh I know I know! I could do it in the park! The park is relaxing! I don't think I'd get distracted there! And the park isn't too far away from home!" Sora started getting really excited about her new little plan, in fact, she was getting too excited. She couldn't stop talking.

"Sora, girl you gotta calm down! You're more than welcome to go to the park and do that! Unfortunately, we have to go home so you'll have to work on it by yourself." Izumi casually pinched Sora's cheek to get her to quiet down. Sora's friends then began to walk off in the direction of their house. Such friends they are... Sora thought to herself.

~⚡️⚡️⚡️~

After a couple minutes of walking to the park, Sora found a good bench to try and work and sat down. She pulled out her notebook and pencil and stared at her notes. Wow, her notes were awful. They made little to no sense and had hardly anything that was covered in class that day. Why was she like this? It was more or less known to the entire class that Sora wasn't exactly the best student. She didn't like focusing in class, she did poorly on assignments, she always panicked when called on to answer questions, thankfully there was always some other student able to save her butt. It still did suck for Sora though, she wanted to do well in school but she didn't care for pretty much any of her classes. Oh well, nothing she could do now.

A few minutes that passed by seemed like hours to Sora. She had been staring at her paper figuring out what she was supposed to write. She was already bored out of her mind, might as well go home and worry about it later... that's when Sora recognized someone walking through the park, it was Emiri! The same girl from earlier!

"Heeeeeeeey! Tomoe! Hellooooo? Can you help me?" Sora started shouting to get her attention, but Emiri just continued walking. She had no other choice but to run towards her.

"Tomoe! Or I guess Emiri-chan! Hey! I didn't expect to see you here!! Uhhhh I need some help with today's homework and I've heard you're pretty smart. Do you have time to help me out?" Sora looked at Emiri. She was practically begging like a puppy. All she wanted was Emiri to say yes.

"Huh? Kato right? Y-yeah, I guess I could maybe help you! But not for long, I have to help with dinner tonight." Emiri smiled at Sora as she walked with her over to the bench where her school stuff was.

"Thank you so much Emiri!! You're my hero! You can call me Sora by the way~!" Sora opened her notebook and showed her awful notes to Emiri. Seeing notes like that made Emiri shocked. She thought Sora was a little better than that, but obviously she wouldn't say that to Sora's face.

"So, what exactly do you want my help with? I can't exactly tell since your notes are... very lacking." Emiri looked at Sora again, which caused Sora to become nervous for no reason whatsoever.

"I know my notes are bad! But can you just give me an example of how I'm supposed to solve this equation? I think one example may help me!" Sora watched as Emiri wrote in Sora's notebook and briefly explained the process. It was slightly making sense but another noise soon caught Sora's attention. Something was in the bushes behind her!

"So, did that make sense? I know it wasn't the best explanation, but hopefully it helped!" Emiri handed Sora her notebook again only to find out that she wasn't even looking at her. "Kato? What's going on?"

"Ehhh? What? Oh! Yes! It made lots of sense! Uhhh there's something back here, I have to go check it out!" Sora quickly shuffled her stuff around before getting off the bench and walking towards the bushes behind them. Emiri quietly followed behind, mostly to see what would happen.

Sora looked through the bush she could've sworn she heard something moving around in. She began poking her head in that bush, only to hear more rustling in the tree branches above her. It was probably just a squirrel, right? Nothing too exciting, maybe this wasn't worth her time after all.

Sora looked at the rustling branch in disappointment, but before she even had a chance to react, something fell out of the tree and landed on her face.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Sora screamed, clearly startled as she tried pulling this strange creature off her face. After falling onto the ground, the creature finally let go of her face and landed in front of her. Sora couldn't tell what this creature was, but it was definitely not a squirrel.

The creature looked like something you'd see in a manga. It was small and white with some yellow markings across its body, most notably on its ears, tail, and paws. The creature even had a lightning shaped marking on its forehead and was wearing a light blue bow. The only thing Sora thought it looked a little similar to was a dog, and a strange looking one at that.

"You have to help me ~sky! Pollution is after me ~sky!" The creature continued looking at Sora as it began speaking. Sora was convinced she was living some stranger fever dream, there was no other way this made sense to her.

"The weird dog thing... is talking? What is this? Please let it be a dream. And what does it mean Pollution is after them? Ughhhhh too many questions!" Sora was thinking out loud again, great. She had no idea what to ask this creature in front of her first. "What are you?"

"What am I? I am Skyla of the Nature Kingdom ~sky! I need your help ~sky! An evil person from Pollution is following me ~sky!" Skyla quickly introduced herself before jumping into Sora's arms. Before Sora could even ask what Pollution was, a man's voice interrupted them.

"Ah I see you've found the creature hiding the final key to Nature Kingdom. If you hand her to me now, I won't hurt you." A man appeared from the shadows. And somehow, his arrival brought more winds with him. What was up with that? He looked rather young, possibly a young adult. He wore all black and had a cape as well. He even had a key tied around his neck. Was that what he meant by key?

"What? Who are you? What do you want?!" Sora started to become slightly scared, but she didn't want to show it. If she did, this man may hurt her.

"What are you, stupid? Give me the creature you're holding so I can find where she's hiding Nature Kingdom's remaining key and take it for the rulers of Pollution of course! Didn't I tell you that?" The man was clearly starting to get annoyed with Sora. It wasn't her fault she was confused. A lot had just happened within the past few minutes.

~⚡️⚡️⚡️~

Sora couldn't help but panic, who was this guy? What were these keys for? Nature Kingdom?! What's that? Did other worlds really exist? She had no other choice, but to run.

"Very well, you decide to run away from me? So I'll summon something to chase after you!" The man shouted as he began to create a lot of wind which began to brush up leaves all around the area. Emiri was still watching from nearby but quickly ran away once the bush she was hiding behind was blown away.

"Pollute the Earth and Destroy! Let's go KuzuBug!"

All that wind led to a giant monster appearing out of thin air. It was rather large and was made out of the branches and leaves he blew around. The monster, or as he called it, the KuzuBug started slowly following Sora, who was running for her life while holding Skyla in her arms.

"Skyla! What is that thing? Why is it trying to kill me?!"

"It's a monster called a KuzuBug ~sky! You need to defeat it before it causes more destruction ~sky!" Skyla responded, slightly panicked.

"Defeat it? I'm not some kind of superhero in case you couldn't notice!" Sora shouted back.

Sora looked back again to see that the KuzuBug just smashed the bench she and Emiri were sitting on. Actually, the entire section of the park was practically in ruins. There were collapsed trees, smashed benches, seeing this made Sora feel nothing but pure anger.

To make things worse, Sora noticed someone running in the distance. It was Emiri! She was still here?! Now Sora knew she had to do something.

"You... how dare you destroy this park!!! Don't you know how much people enjoy this park?! It's so beautiful and was filled with life! And now you're destroying it!! I'll never forgive you!" Sora began yelling at the man, who was still controlling the KuzuBug.

As Sora's feelings grew stronger, so did her desire to protect the park, and Emiri. Suddenly, a light began to glow as a small cellphone like item appeared and landed in her hands.

"It can't be ~sky... the power of a Precure!! Sora! I want you to use that item to transform so you can fight the monster ~sky!" Skyla looked at Sora, who held the item.

"Transform?! What? I don't understand what's going on, but if it means protecting the park, I'll do it!" Sora stood up holding the item up to the sky. Nothing happened. "Wait, am I supposed to say something?"

Skyla groaned. "Shout Precure, Nature Flash! ~sky!" Sora looked back at the little fairy, and nodded. She once again held the item in the air and shouted.

"Precure, Nature Flash!"

Sora soon began to be engulfed in a blue light. Her clothes disappeared, creating a blue flowy dress. Small shocks of electricity also surrounded her. She reached her hands out, which led to two light blue arm warmers appearing on her arms. The arm warmers also had light pink fingerless gloves underneath and had yellow lightning shaped icons on the ends.

Clothes then began to magically appear. The top of her dress changed to reveal a light blue midriff top with lace trim on the sleeves. A skirt with the same color also appeared around her waist. It had the same shade of pink as a belt and also featured lace trim around it. On the skirt, another yellow lightning bolt appeared in the center of the belt which seemed to keep the skirt together. Her skirt also had pink shorts underneath it.

As if that wasn't enough, Sora's legs began glowing as a pair of short boots with the same blue color as before appeared with silver trim at the top of the boots, and at the tips of her boots. Knee high socks also appeared, but they were an even lighter shade of blue than her boots and also featured that same silver trim.

Sora's top began to glow again, only to reveal a pink bow with a silver lightning bolt in the middle of it. Sora's hair then glowed as it went from brown to bright blonde, and grew in length. A blue bow with yet another lightning bolt on it appeared in her hair, as well as some silver earrings. Sora opened her eyes, which had become an even brighter shade of green than before. She twirled around as the small item that she was holding appeared in a small carry case and was placed on her hip, hanging off of a ribbon of some kind.

She then landed on the ground, as a lot more electricity surrounded her. Maybe she was able to control lightning?

"Striking in the Great Forces of Nature! Cure Lightning!"

Lightning shouted her name as she posed one final time. The amount of electricity began to slow down as the world seemed to light up around her. The legendary guardians of nature, the Precure, had returned to earth once again.

After standing for about a minute, Lightning stopped and looked at herself. Her reaction went from shocked to excited within seconds.

"Whoa! Is this really me?! I don't believe it! I look so cool~!" Lightning's excitement was cut off when she saw the KuzuBug swing at her. She instantly began to panic and run out of its reach. Lightning swore she had never run that fast in her life, was this part of her power?

"So fast! Ahhhh this is awesome!" Lightning squealed in excitement when she realized that she was faster than before, she was practically lightning fast.

The KuzuBug slowly started to catch up with Lightning and swatted at her again, only for Lightning to react by jumping in the air and doing a backflip until she landed behind it.

"Hey! You looking for me? Think fast!" Lightning started teasing the KuzuBug while running around it, trying to confuse it. Losing track of Lightning made it dizzy and it proceeded to lose balance.

Lightning decided to finally stop messing around and stood there, thinking of her next possible attack. Just then, she started to feel power within her. Electricity. Blue sparks began to form from her hands as she prepared to strike the KuzuBug again. She ran towards it at full speed and punched it while sparks began to fly.

As a result of Lightning's power, the KuzuBug was finally weakened. Lightning was relieved, but the KuzuBug wasn't defeated yet.

"Quick! Shout out your attack name ~sky! That should defeat it ~sky!" Skyla shouted from nearby. Lightning turned to see Skyla sitting on one of the remaining tree branches.

"Attack name? Hmmm... okay!" Lightning let the electricity power her up again. This time, instead of it forming in her hands, it started forming into a ball of lightning, a ball of lightning that she would kick.

Lightning started to lift off the ground as the energy around her grew stronger. The ball of lightning also grew stronger with her. She then started to shout again.

"Precure Lightning Strike!"

Lightning kicked the ball towards the KuzuBug leading to it being engulfed in electricity. The KuzuBug was defeated, it had disappeared. The man looked around in shock, how? His plan was practically perfect! Why did this happen?

"The Precure have returned! This ruins everything! His majesty will not be pleased to know this!" Before Lightning even had a chance to try and confront him, he vanished into thin air.

Lightning looked around as the surrounding area went back to normal. It was almost like nothing happened. The benches were magically repaired, the trees and bushes were perfectly fine, what a relief!

After everything that had just happened, of course Lightning had a bit of questions for Skyla.

"What just happened to me? Was that real? Who was that guy? And why did the park just magically go back to normal?!"

"Slow down ~sky! I can only answer so many questions at once!! Starting with your first question, you just transformed into a Precure ~sky!"

"Precure huh? I do remember shouting that a lot. What even is a Precure?"

"The Precure are legendary warriors who protect the world from evil ~sky!"

"I see! So I guess this was real then..."

"Of course it was real ~sky! And I'm sure Tornado will try and attack us again ~sky!"

"Tornado? You mean that creepy guy?"

Skyla nodded. "Yes, he was one of the ones responsible for destroying Nature Kingdom ~sky. I guess he's now after me since I escaped ~sky."

Just then, Lightning changed back to Sora again. She looked at herself again, feeling a bit disappointed but also relieved that she was normal again.

"Escaped? Did something happen to this Nature Kingdom?" She looked at Skyla who walked beside her.

"I'll explain your mission as a Precure once you find a partner ~sky! You can't fight alone after all ~sky."

"Ahhh what? A partner? How do you find a partner?"

"Trust me, you'll know when you find the perfect person to become your Precure partner ~sky." Skyla smiled at Sora, she actually looked pretty cute even if she still had no idea what Skyla was supposed to be.

Now that everything was normal again, Sora picked up all her stuff and proceeded to walk home. Little did she know that Skyla was following her.

"Don't you live in the park? Why are you following me?"

"I've been living in this stupid park for a week ~sky! If we're gonna work together, at least give me a place to live ~sky!"

Sora sighed, not only did she have to take care of Skyla now, she also had even less time to do her homework. Oh well, she could always stay up late and do it. All that mattered to Sora though was finding someone to fight with her, save the Nature Kingdom and protect their hometown. She'd find someone right?

Emiri finally crawled out from a couple of bushes that she had hidden in while the KuzuBug wrecked the park. She had no idea Sora was there and that she saw her. But she saw something else, a girl fighting back with everything she had. She couldn't help but wonder who that girl was and where she came from. Maybe Sora would know? Deciding not to think of it any further, Emiri walked home, looking at the pictures she took of the fight on her phone. She had to ask Sora when she arrived to school tomorrow.

To be continued.
