The world around us

Me and my best friend Jasper walk through the orange portal. A tingling sensation running through my body as I go from one world to the next; And I can imagine that Jasper is feeling the same.

-----------

The tingling subsides and I open my eyes to a small cottage, round shaped with seemingly dark wooden planks making up the cottages floor and walls. Foliage lining the supposed windows and light creeping from them, touching the wood charmingly. Not very large, but , comfortable. Two beds made from clumped wool and stitched blankets sit across one another, with chests at the ends, having letters on them but seemingly no locks. The letters read our names, the one to the left saying his name, and the one to the right saying my name. I look next to me and Jasper stands in awe. I walk to my bed and chest; opening it and it responding with a creak of iron lining and old wood, inside is a set of cloth clothes, a short sword in a leather sheath, and a backpack only having a few more items inside- a small coin purse only having 5 gold inside, a tinderbox, bandages and a box of bread and berries- I fasten the sheath in my belt after I get properly clothed, of course after I ask Jasper to turn around, and sling the backpack on and roll my shoulders back. " a new start" i thought to myself, and a grin growing on my face.

Jasper opens the box of food from the backpack and pulls off a piece of the bread. " everything is so... realistic" he then chews the bread " and it tastes good too!" he said, while chewing the bread. He then gets ready in a similar fashion, though instead of having a sword and sheath, he has a staff. " Whats with the staff?" I ask, " Well you said to fill it out as honestly as possible, and I am not one for gruesome battles, so I chose the more pacifistic option- A druid!" He responds, I respond with a smile and a nod, understanding his choice.  " are you ready to see what lies beyond the door?" I ask him, and he exhales loudly and nods " It can't be that scary, can it?"

I push open the large wooden door, and the sunlight enters the cottage and blinds me briefly. The birds chirping, the bugs rustling, and nature blossoming; greets us into this new world. The sunlight breaking through the leaves of the tall oak trees and dotting the grassy patches around our feet. I inhale the fresh air and it energizes me and brings me to the brim of excitement and joy of this new world. Jasper is starstruck with the amount of beauty and nature around us. " a lovely day isn't it?" I say confidently; Jasper, still obviously unsure about the surrounding silently nods. We begin our journey. Walking across the dew ridden grass through the forest, admiring the bushes and trees along the way.

A few moments later the forest begins to recede, and we meet a prairie like clearing, and a town settled right in the middle. We walk into this quaint hamlet; welcoming us with the sounds of chatter among the towns folk, faint music of some kind, and the smells of fresh baked breads and meals. "Where to first Jasper?" I turn to him, with a calm smile. " M-Maybe we could start some work at the tavern? something simple I hope.." He responds, still unsure. We enter the tavern, smells of ale and food full our nostrils and we quickly in find our way to a table. " Is everything alright?" I ask Jasper, starting to get worried " I'm still not sure about this.." he replies, fairly quickly. " Whats so scary?" I say " I-I don't know, that's whats scary, something crazy could happen at any moment!" He replies loudly. A waitress walks over, her feet stomping on the ground towards us. " Could ya'll keep it down!?" She yells " S-sorry miss, its our first day in town, we.. we were just debating on where to look for work" I say quickly, trying to cover our asses. She believes me and hands us a few pieces of parchment, saying that this is all the work available, and that if she has to come back she'll kick us out..not exactly a warm welcome but at least it was realistic..I guess..

"See what I mean?" Jasper whispers "No I don't, its just we were to loud is all; here find a job you'd be comfortable with and I'll be right there with you" I smile at him reassuringly and hand him the parchment.
