Part IX: The Aftermath

It was midnight at home world. The same blinding yellow light filled the center of the hurricane.

POTUS (virtual): "What the hell is going on over there?!"
CNO: "Doctor, what's the meaning of this?!"
Dr. ██████: "I have no clue, Admiral!"

Then the light dissipates just as fast as it appeared. Almost immediately, the super hurricane falls apart, the clouds dissolving and turning into mere air.

In less than a minute, the hurricane was gone and the once-heavy seas were now calm.

Sitting within the former center was Centurion. The CNO was quick to notice the yellow bridge lights in the distance but paid no attention to the fact it was the same color as the blinding light. He grabbed the medium-range radio.

CNO: "USS Centurion, are you ok?"

Centurion responded.

Centurion (radio): "Yeah."
CNO: "What the hell happened?"
Centurion (radio): "I saw everything in that hellhole..."
Dr. ██████: "Well..."

He and the CNO looked at each other.

Dr. ██████: "I think we have answers."
CNO: "I'll end it here, Mr. President."
POTUS (virtual): "Wait!-"

The CNO closes the lid of the laptop, ending the virtual session.

The Azur Lane fleet was at a standstill. Many were confused and tired out.

POW: "So when the alternate reality collapsed, it caused the nearby area to become unstable."
Hood: "Are the Sirens behind this?"
POW: "Oorochi might have a connection to the event caused by Enterprise as well."
Queen Elizabeth: "Whatever the case, if we're to foil their plan, they cannot escape."

She was looking up, and a tear in space-time was in midair, open to the vacuum of space.

Queen Elizabeth: "But, we have another problem."

Everyone looked around.

Hood: "The Manifest Destiny, it's gone..."
POW: "They must've ended someplace else after that event."
Queen Elizabeth: "Wherever they are, we must find them before they run into danger."
Hood: "Isn't it powerful enough to take on anything they can throw at it? It demonstrated that many times over."
POW: "All ships have their weaknesses..."
Queen Elizabeth: "It could overpower all who meet it for the mere fact it can project its firepower over any distance it wants, and it stays out of effective range of opposing guns. All it really did was subdue its enemy before they could even fire back."
Warspite: "We should waste no time in finding them. Who knows what they'll run into..."

USS MANIFEST DESTINY

[World of Warships OST music ambiance starts playing]

The battleship was stationary and the guns were silent. Snow blew all over the ship.

Jackson groaned as he got up to his feet. He looked around to see fellow crew members confused and looking around.

The Manifest Destiny only suffered minor damage. Bullet holes and black char from fires stained the superstructure. Ricochets marks and flattened shells riddled the main belt armor. Bullet and shell casings flood the mid-deck.

Crewmate 19: "Captain! Are you ok?"
Jackson: "I'm fine, thank you."
Crewmate 20: "What do we do now? We're completely separated from the main fleet!"
Jackson: "Disassemble all weapon stations and take shelter indoors. It seems we're somewhere else..."

Jackson returned back inside as crewmen began moving stuff indoors.

Up at the bridge, the watch team was making haste with troubleshooting and status reports.

Alisa: "Where is he off to now?"
Amy: "I never seen the captain go off himself like that..."
Samuel: "You could tell anger was running through his blood after Enterprise was taken down."

Jackson enters the bridge, the door making a metallic groaning as it opened and closed.

Jackson: "This is out of this world."

He took the pair of binoculars.

Jackson: "What's the status of the ship?"
Hancock: "Several electronic faults were detected and are being troubleshooted by our Technicians."
Amy: "Electronic warfare sensors are permanently impaired; we cannot intercept radio channels or pinpoint radar sources anymore."
Helmsman: "Reactor 4 is being restarted by the reactor room after being forced out of operation."
Jackson: "What? Was it damaged?"
Helmsman: "They're performing an integrity check right now."
Jackson: "Make a complete battle readiness report, ASAP. In the meanwhile, make turns for 1/3 ahead. We need to get moving and figure out where we are."
Helmsman: "Aye sir."

The Helmsman gently pushes the throttle for 1/3 ahead. The battleship begins to move slowly.

Sandbags were moved back inside the ship for storage along with the M134 and M2 machine guns. Casings were swept overboard before the last of the crewmen got inside and locked the doors.

The helmsman carefully navigated the battleship through the twists and turns, around the ice and minding the huge size of the ship itself.

Hancock: "Captain."

He handed a clipboard. Jackson took it and read it.

Hancock: "We're significantly impaired in long-range combat capabilities. SPQ-9 and Mark 245 Main Battery Fire Control are impaired, and the combat suite is currently relying on the backup Mark 246 Fire controls on the individual turrets."
Alisa: "Mark 92 Mod I damaged, impaired accuracy. SPQ-9B directors permanently impaired, can no longer intercept."
Jackson: "Ammunition levels are not that favorable."
Helmsman: "Reactor 4, reactor room saying it has reduced working efficiency; damaged cooling system pumps."
Alisa: "We crippled the Sakura fleet, that's for one."
Samuel: "They didn't see us coming with our full armaments. We dished out a majority of the damage."
Jackson: "But, at what cost..."

He flipped through the pages as he read the logistics report.

Amy: "Structural integrity ok, no superstructure components have been destroyed completely."
James: "SPS-67 reactivating."

The SPS-67 navigation radar began spinning again. As it did, a chunk of a tall ice cliff fell into the ocean and created a cascade of water mist.

The Manifest Destiny sailed through it and broke through the random ice chunk blocking its path. It crumbled and broke in half against the armored seakeeping bow.

The bridge breaks through the mist, and immediately there was first contact.

Jackson: "Who's that?"
Amy: "That's..."

She squints her eyes hard.

Amy: "Javelin and Laffey... and that's Ayanami..."
Jackson: "We're still at General quarters. What's going on there?"

Alisa was about to pick up the phone for the combat suite when Amy stopped her.

Amy: "Please... don't shoot Ayanami..."
Alisa: "I see..."
Samuel: "What? What's wrong with you??"
Jackson: "What's wrong?"
Amy: "Jackson, please understand..."

Javelin and Laffey were face-to-face with Ayanami, and now the Manifest Destiny was there, seemingly ready to annihilate.

But to her increasing frustration, none of them attacked. Not even the Manifest Destiny moved a gun.

Ayanami: "This again..."

She stared at Javelin, and then the Manifest Destiny. A sense of fear ran through her mind at the sight of the Titan, but her voice remained unmoved.

Ayanami: "I don't understand... now the Titan won't fight too? What's the matter with you people?! I DON'T GET IT!"
Laffey: "Didn't you listen? We just wanna be friends."
Javelin: "That's right! Why would we hurt someone we rather be close to?-"

Ayanami still contradicted their claims.

Ayanami: "Because we're created to be enemies?!"
Laffey: "Doesn't matter-"
Ayanami: "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! Can't you see that's our only purpose!?"

...

Javelin: "No, you're wrong! It's more to it than just that!"

Ayanami fell speechless...

...Then suddenly:

Laffey: "Watch out!"

She tackled Javelin and a shell flew through where Javelin was standing.

The shell flew and landed in front of the broadside of the battleship. In response, the secondary and CIWS guns turned. The secondary guns reloaded high explosive while the 20mm Vulcans spun up.

Yuudachi: "Stop picking on her!"
Yukikaze: "Stupid battleship! Take this!"

Yuudachi and Yukikaze fired off their own artillery barrages at the Manifest Destiny.

They landed and impacted, creating obscuring smoke.

Yuudachi: "Take that!"

Then the smoke clears. Instead, the shells failed to damage the battleship or even made it flinch one bit. Shells were pancaked against the main belt armor and the ones that impacted the secondary turrets shattered.

Yukikaze: "What?! That did nothing??"

POW POW POW POW!

They returned fire with high explosives, and shells exploded as they hit the water.

Yuudachi: "EEK!"
Shigure: "Why are you standing there? Let's go!"

Shigure grabbed Ayanami and forced her to retreat from the menacing battleship.

BRRRRRT!!!

The Phalanx Shredders fired a burst of shells, spraying the water in front of Javelin and Laffey. The impacting 20mm shells created a barricade of cascading water, throwing Javelin and Laffey backwards.

Javelin and Laffey tumbled through the rough waters, and then Javelin ended up into Belfast's hands of safety.

Belfast: "Javelin? Are you alright?"

Javelin looks up to see Belfast's face.

Javelin: "I-I think I'm fine."
Belfast: "It's not safe here. Follow the Manifest Destiny, and it will protect us."

Javelin couldn't help, and turned her head to gaze at the spot where Ayanami was.

The Manifest Destiny continued to navigate. Belfast, Laffey, and Javelin followed in its great wake.

Jackson: "I see..."
Samuel: "Seriously?"
Alisa: "I'm frankly surprised, even though she already told me before the battle."
Amy: "Ayanami... seems hesitant. I don't think she's gonna come forward at all if we keep intimidating her like that."
Alisa: "Then how should we approach her the next time?"
Amy: "I... don't know..."
Jackson: "I appreciate the empathy, but that problem must be set aside for now."
James: "Incoming intersection, bow sonar detecting shallow ice."

While the Manifest Destiny continued to find its way towards the main Azur Lane fleet with Belfast, Javelin, and Laffey, there was the opposing fleet that was still reeling from the full fury of the USS Manifest Destiny.

Kaga had finally opened her eyes but was in a state of shock.

Yamashiro: "Hey guys! She's awake!-"

Kaga snapped up from laying in confusion. Her voice clearly indicated she was all tired and worn out.

Kaga: "Dear sister?!"
Yamashiro: "!?-" *Falls over*
Zuikaku: "Kaga, slow down. You're severely hurt..."
Kaga: "What happened...?"

Everyone was exhausted, and many of them were injured from the Manifest Destiny's endless barrage of lead. The most severe injuries included gashing wounds from the onslaught of combined ammunition.

Kaga: "The Titan... It's unspeakable firepower..."
Kaga: "And my sister... Where's my Akagi?!"
Zuikaku: "...she's... ummm..."

There was a great deal of concerned voices among the shipgirls who have survived the wrath of the Manifest Destiny. It was surprising that despite all the lead it poured, there appeared to be no casualties. Some were wondered by the amount of firepower it laid down and concentrated and others were purely terrified by its ungodly size and armaments.

Souryuu: "We don't have any leads for Akagi."
Fusou: "The rest who were separated have been found. If she's not back... well... did Grey Ghost may have got her?"
Hiryuu: "I think it's too early to think that yet. Maybe we're not looking hard enough."
Ise: "You think? What about that hunk of terror that's roaming around? If it finds us first, we're all dead meat."
Souryuu: "We have one more problem..."

Sirens around were inactive. All of them. Once fighting warships were now mere masses of steel with no purpose.

Ise: "Is this related to the current state of the ocean?"
Souryuu: "Maybe because of Oorochi and the severed connection."
Fusou: "The Titan 1 already was giving us enough stress. Losing the black mental cube stacked on top of that-"

Then, Shokaku really began questioning.

Shokaku: "I mean... there are some things we still don't know and the Oorochi."
Hiryuu: "What are you saying...?"
Shokaku: "We could've handled things much differently, even take down the Titan ourselves. How were we supposed to know how to control the Sirens in the first place?"
Hiryuu: "Now is not the time to question. No one is to be blamed this instant."
Shokaku: "And what about that thing Akagi used? And then there was another ship that had that same look as the Titan, but cruiser sized. Aren't there too many secrets now?"

She was onto something, but the path was still poorly lit.

Shokaku: "Our 1st carrier division elders have been behaving unusually... what are they hiding?"

Elsewhere, the Manifest Destiny cruised across the arctic waters with Javelin, Laffey, and Belfast. They followed inside the battleship's bow wake.

Javelin and Laffey were quiet and followed beside the battleship.

Belfast: "Are you two concerned about that Sakura Empire girl?"
Javelin: "Oh... you noticed...?"
Belfast: "Yes, and I apologize that I was too late to help.
Javelin: "Aren't you... mad at us?"
Belfast: "Pardon?"
Javelin: "Because Ayanami is our enemy, but neither of us wants to fight her. Amy would agree with us too, but we don't know how to change that.."
Belfast: "Maybe you should give it more time."

Javelin looked up in question.

Belfast: "We shouldn't let the past change what decisions we make now."

Belfast looks at the towering Manifest Destiny.

Belfast: "We were made to defend and fight, but not obligated to destroy."

Javelin and Laffey's faces brightened up and nodded in agreement.

Then, there was the violent rushing of air and water. On the other side of the Manifest Destiny, a Siren was sucked into the freezing unstable waters.

Belfast: "This place is especially dangerous. Stay with the Manifest Destiny and guide it back to the main fleet."
Javelin: "What about you?"
Belfast: "No matter to me. I need to find Enterprise; I owe that to her, it's my duty."

But Laffey had a different idea.

Laffey: "I want to help."

Belfast turned around, surprised.

Belfast: "Do you really mean that?"
Javelin: "Me too! We can find Enterprise and go hoke together!"

Belfast smiled in assurance.

The Manifest Destiny didn't mind and continued to navigate the icy waters. However, it began to accelerate to a higher cruising speed in an effort to speed up the search.

As the battleship cruised across the water, the bow wakes slammed the ice around them, disturbing the icy masses and sending sizable chunks into the water. The stern wake of the churned water by the contra-rotating propellers was enough to hang around for miles long after the battleship had transited that area.

At the Sakura Empire fleet, things were not looking very good.

Kaga: "What...?! Say that one more time!"
Souryuu: "This is effective immediately: the search for Akagi has been terminated. All ships return to the fleet."
Kaga: "You...!

She shoved Zuikaku away and stood up, but she struggled to do so. Her voice was still worn out.

Kaga: "That is not acceptable! The flagship cannot be left behind!"
Souryuu: "Look, we are outgunned in almost every way against the enemy. It is not advisable to not prolong our stay here."

Souryuu pushed her glasses up.

Souryuu: "The Titan 1 is nearby. Recon has spotted wake trails and disturbed ice indicating its presence. I'm not risking everyone's lives anymore against a merciless battleship. You saw what happened when we angered it..."
Kaga: "Souryuu...!"

She tried to make a lunge in anger, but she fell on her knees in exhaustion. Zuikaku grabbed her before she fell completely onto the floor. Kaga teared in disappointment and sorrow.

Souryuu: "I'm sorry... There's not much else we can do..."
Hiryuu: "The Titan is searching for us, isn't it?"
Souryuu: "It's safe to assume so. It seems they won't hold back anymore."

Then there was the Azur Lane fleet, similarly concerned, but for different reasons, if not the complete opposite reasons.

Helena: "Sakura Empire is not far. We also tracked down the wake trails of the Manifest Destiny, they're likely searching to rendezvous with us."
Cleveland: "So we have to do this?"
POW: "The Siren power they have is too dangerous. If we let them go, the situation is gonna get worse."
Helena: "We must assume the battleship is damaged. It's vulnerable like this."
POW: "It contributed greatly during the battle, and we shouldn't throw the towel for them."
Hornet: "Nothing else we can do..."

Hornet tips her hat.

Hornet: "This is war."

The Azur Lane fleet was on the hunt for the final blow. The Sakura Empire fleet, on the other hand, was on the run.

Hiryuu: "They're not gonna let us escape easily, are they?"
Souryuu: "We can't take them head-on like this. The Titan 1 alone will be able to take us down easily once they find us."
Hiryuu: "If that's the case, I'll pull Azur Lane and the Titan away. Command the retreat-"

But then, Zuikaku says otherwise.

Zuikaku: "No, I'll take the rear guard."
Shokaku: "Zuikaku!"
Hiryuu: "I will not allow you to do that in the face of annihilation!"
Shokaku: "You can't just take on a responsibility like that!"
Zuikaku: "Don't you understand how she feels? I'd react the same way... don't you think?"

She looks at Shokaku.

Zuikaku: "Sisters are special, aren't they?"

Shokaku thought for a moment, closing her eyes as she did. She then opened up to her decision.

Shokaku: "You don't need to worry about that. I'll be always right by you!"

The decision was made.

Hiryuu: "Stay safe, and do not go head-on with Titan 1 if it presents itself. Return when we are clear."

...

Not too far, the Manifest Destiny navigated increasingly tight turns and passages. It huffed and puffed trying to negotiate the choking corners and ice-clogged waterways.

It swung around and entered a large opening in the passage. The waters were surrounded by tall cliffs of ice and there was not much room for the battleship to maneuver or even move in.

James: "90-degree starboard turn coming up."
Jackson: "I don't think we can make the turn in one go. All stop."
Helmsman: "All stop aye sir."

He pulled the engine telegram to stop, and the propellers stopped turning. However, the battleship was still moving at a steady pace.

James: "We're not gonna make the stop. Full braking or else we're gonna collide with the ice walls."
Jackson: "Back astern!"
Helmsman: "Back astern aye sir!"

He pulled for the reverse gear of the ship, and the battleship began to noticeably slow down more. Everyone leaned forward as the mass of the ship slowed down.

But it was still not enough.

James: "We're gonna end up blocking the turn like this..."
Alisa: "What else can we do? This is probably the best de-acceleration this ship can do."

But then, Jackson had a very unconventional idea. He pulled out his two-way short-range radio.

Jackson: "Drop port anchor."
Alisa: "What...?"
Amy: "Huh?"
Crewmate 20 (radio): "Drop anchor at speed?"
Jackson: "Drop it now."

It was a moment before the anchor released and dropped into the water. It dragged in the water.

When it landed on the seafloor, the flukes of the anchor began to dig into the dirt.

Now the ship began to slow down. Everyone leaned forward, some almost falling flat on the floor.

James: "Huh... that's a good move."
Jackson: "Slow down to 5 knots and make port to negotiate the starboard turn-"

Out of nowhere...

SNAP!

The anchor catches onto a rock face. The chain snaps straight and strains under the massive weight of the battleship.

The bow thrusted into the water and the stern rose out of the water before splashing back down. The entire ship groaned and the sound echoed around across the icy walls. Everyone was thrown off their feet by the battleship's sudden stop.

Samuel: "God damn..."
James: "Ok, that I didn't expect that..."
Jackson: "Dammit, that hurt."

Everyone got to their feet.

Amy: "Jackson, you're ok?"
Jackson: "I'm fine... but we're now completely stationary."

Then, the distant sound of guns and explosions reverbed around.

Samuel: "That isn't good..."
Jackson: "Helmsman, 1/3 ahead."
Helmsman: "1/3rd ahead aye sir."

Jackson pulled out his radio.

Jackson: "Retract anchor."

The anchor began to rise. It initially caught onto the hanging cliff face portion, but the anchor tore through the rock and began to surface.

Then the explosions and gunfire began moving closer.

Samuel: "Main guns, turn 15 degrees. I think we got something coming up."

Only the B turret turned. The A and B turrets remained due to the frontal blindspot.

Coming around the corner was Zuikaku and Shokaku. The laser on the B turret engaged and locked onto Zuikaku first and turned left to lead the shot.

First, she turned at the Manifest Destiny in startle, then noticed Enterprise...

Staring...

Zuikaku: "Grey Ghost!"

The B turret was about to fire when Enterprise's planes appeared over the ice

Suddenly, the planes split into swarms. They eyed both Zuikaku and Manifest Destiny and began raining bombs with little thought.

Samuel: "Friendly fire! Friendly fire!"
Alisa: "What the hell is going on?!"
Jackson: "Is she attacking us?! Fire back!"
Alisa: "Sir-"
Jackson: "FIRE BACK!"
Samuel: "Bridge to combat suite, fire at will! I repeat fire at will! Defend the ship!"

Bombs rained down onto the battleship, exploding onto the deck armor. They failed to penetrate but left sizable marks on the armor.

All the main guns turned towards Enterprise in self-defense. The B turret disengaged from Zuikaku and turned as well.

Hellcats dove and strafed the Manifest Destiny. Phalanx Shredders immediately fired back:

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!

Red tracers spilled everywhere and tore apart the Hellcats and Dauntless dive bombers. Secondary 5" guns fired away in anti-air mode.

A pair of Hellcats began strafing runs onto Zuikaku with guns blazing. She looked left and right to see the intersecting machine gun streams when Shokaku came leaping at her.

Shokaku: "ZUIKAKU!"
Zuikaku: "Sister?!-"

The two streams intersected and sprayed them violently. The splashes enveloped them in water.

Artillery Officer 1: "That son of a █████ needs some sense to be knocked into her! FIRE!"
Artillery Officer 2: "FULL SALVO!"

BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM!

The shells screamed out and pierced through the smoke from the exploding bombs. They slammed the icy cliff faces of where Enterprise stood, and exploded furiously.

Zuikaku watched in awe, her ears ringed from the epic gun blasts of the 16-inch guns. Her eyes soaked in the true details of the battleship and its mighty guns firing.

The 5-inch guns blindly fired into the smoke, adding fuel to the flames and smoke. Then the battleship stopped firing, letting the smoke clear to see if Enterprise was still even alive.

And she was still staring, with no change to her expression, let alone did she flinch at the explosions that occurred in front of her.

A dive bomber launched from her carrier deck. It rolled upside down, pitched down, and began a nosedive onto Zuikaku.

Zuikaku looked up helplessly to see the dive bomber barreling towards her. She was powerless to do anything, with Shokaku unconscious in her arms.

Zuikaku: "I'm sorry... Don't leave me..."

As soon as the bomb release unlocked and clicked to release, the Manifest Destiny begged to differ.

BRRRRRRRRRRTTT!!!

A thick stream of red tracers obliterated the bomber and its bomb into bits and chunks, effectively destroying it before it bombed Zuikaku and Shokaku. The Shredder redirected and began shooting down more of Enterprise's planes.

Enterprise's head snaps right and glares at the Manifest Destiny. She launched more planes and focused onto the giant battleship.

Alisa: "Uhhh... captain...? I think we pissed her off..."
Jackson: "Good."
Samuel: "Give it more!"

Both the 5-inch guns and Phalanx Shredders engaged in intense anti-air warfare. The air filled with upwards flying lead and raining bombs and chunks of planes.

Then one bomb released from a Dauntless. A 5-inch shell then exploded, engulfing the plane in a fireball and sending the bomb tumbling through the air. It fell, and it hits the No. 2 turret of the Manifest Destiny.

The bomb penetrates, and the turret went up in flames as the powder charges and shells that were being autoloaded exploded. Fire erupted from the impact point and smoke poured out from the barrels, damaged gun sleeves, the muzzles, and ventilation holes. Two of the guns collapsed from their angle and fell to minimum elevation. The left barrel stubbornly stayed at its set elevation.

Jackson: "Oh god dammit!"
Alisa: "████!"
Amy: "Fire! Turret B! Safety systems are engaging!"

The hoist doors immediately slammed shut and the entire turret barbette was disabled as fire retardation protocols were engaged. Carbon dioxide poured into the gun turrets to smother the flames.

Suddenly, the ice face to the starboard of the Manifest Destiny disintegrated into chunks and pieces.

A contact appeared on the SPY-1 radar and was seen making its way from point to point from the hits the ice chunks were making. Amy looked out and saw...

Amy: "That's Ayanami!"

She was parkouring from ice chunk to ice chunk, braving the anarchy of bullets and planes filling the air.

She makes multiple swings and attacks against the onslaught of dive bombers, assisting the Manifest Destiny's anti-air warfare.

The last plane was about to lob its bomb when she sliced it, causing the plane and its bomb to explode. Ayanami was knocked out cold, and was thrown clear from the explosion.

It was at that moment Enterprise saw, and snapped back to reality. She immediately fell into shock at the sight as Ayanami began to plummet toward the ocean.

Suddenly, a tear appears, opening a giant void. It began to suck in both the Manifest Destiny and Ayanami.

Jackson noticed as he rushed to check the port side of the ship.

Jackson: "Mother of Montezuma! Helmsman, full power!"
Helmsman: "Flank speed aye sir!"

The helmsman slammed the engine telegraph directly into war emergency power as the propeller blades spun up to full power.

Jackson turns around.

Jackson: "Where's Amy?"
James: "Atkinson??"

Alisa turns around too.

Alisa: "Amy?-"

She dropped what she was doing and ran to the door.

Alisa: "AMY!"

She opened it and didn't even mind closing it.

Out on the deck, Amy bursted out and immediately noticed Javelin and Laffey.

Amy: "JAVELIN! LAFFEY! OVER HERE!"

Laffey And Javelin were making strides down an ice pillar as they gave chase to Ayanami, who was falling through the air.

She then makes a sprint to the aft deck, running under the guns of the 5-inch and then the 16-inch guns. Her sprint was quick and got to the deck between the aft Phalanx guns and the X turret.

Laffey: "The battleship!"
Javelin: "Right!"

They both jumped. Javelin then launched her anchor downwards towards the Manifest Destiny's empty fantail deck. It pierced and stuck.

Alisa was sprinting down towards the aft.

Alisa: "Amy, what the hell are you doing!"
Amy: "It's Ayanami! Get the medic team ready!"
Alisa: "What?!-"

Amy then opened a door on the Phalanx mount to access the fantail deck.

Laffey dove for Ayanami. Both she and Ayanami reached out for each other and grabbed tightly. Javelin comes in hurdling towards them, grabs both of them, and retracts the anchor, taking them away from the void and crashing onto the fantail deck. They landed hard, enough to leave a sizable dent.

The Manifest Destiny pulls away from the tear into the void, and powers away.

Amy quickly climbed the steps and saw the three girls on the deck.

Amy: "Holy ████..."

She grabbed her radio for the medical teams.

Amy: "Alisa, where are they?!"
Alisa (radio): "They're coming up onto the deck now!"

Amy ran over to check them.

Amy: "Are you guys ok??"
Javelin: "....ouch."
Laffey: "Yeah."

Laffey looked at Ayanami and smiled. Ayanami's face had deep regret and shame all over. She looked at Laffey, and then at Amy.

Ayanami: "I'm... so sorry... thank you..."

The chaos seemingly ended as the sound of guns and anarchy ended. The damage was done; the USS Manifest Destiny was damaged from bow to stern in bomb damage and fires. Holes and craters from the armor-piercing bombs dotted the main deck and extended deck. The B turret smoldered in smoke and embers. M61 Vulcan barrels smoked and glowed orange.

The very person the Manifest Destiny and her crew befriended, was the only one able to damage her extensively.

Back up at the bridge, Jackson looked through his binoculars, observing Enterprise collapsing onto her knees in shock and shame. He slowly lowered his binos.

Samuel: "My... god..."
Jackson: "Enterprise... you made one hell of a mess..."
