Day 9: Recovery and A bit of Luck

The next morning dawned with a sense of renewed purpose. The previous night's events were still fresh in your mind, but you were determined not to let fear rule your actions. The air was crisp, carrying the gentle aroma of dew-covered grass and the distant hum of the ranch's machinery. You stepped outside your cozy little home, the sun's rays warming your skin as you surveyed the aftermath of the Tarr attack. There were slimy streaks on the ground and the faint remains of the Tarrs' malevolent presence. But you were alive, your slimes were safe, and that's what mattered most.

Y/N: Alright, time to clean up this mess.

With a newfound determination, you set to work. You grabbed your trusty VacPack and started scooping up the slimy residue left by the Tarrs. It was hard work, but there was a certain therapeutic quality to it. As you cleaned, you couldn't help but reflect on the unique life you had chosen on the Far Far Range. It wasn't always easy, but moments like these made it all worth it.

As you worked, you heard a soft rustling and... jingling behind you? You quickly turned around, your VacPack at the ready, only to find the source of the noise was, thankfully, not another hostile creature coming to kill you, but something entirely unexpected. It was a small, white, and translucent catlike creature with a cheerful grin on its face, only outshined by the bright golden new buck glued to its gooey forehead it was a lucky slime!

Y/N: Well, hey there, little fella, aren't you just the cutest thing ever!

You watched in fascination as the lucky slime jingled its little bell-like tail and hopped around, leaving behind a trail of shimmering sparkles wherever it moved. Its eyes twinkled like stars as it curiously inspected your cleaning efforts. Without thinking much, you lowered your VacPack, not wanting to startle the adorable creature. Crouching down to its level. The lucky slime tilted its head, seemingly intrigued by your presence. You extended a cautious hand, offering it a gentle pat on its gooey head. Surprisingly, the slime seemed to enjoy the attention, emitting a delighted jingle in response, and you couldn't help but chuckle along happily.

Y/N: You have no idea how much I needed this after the night I just had, buddy.

As you continued cleaning, the lucky slime stuck by your side, occasionally bouncing over to nudge your hand or playfully boop your foot. Its cheerful demeanor was infectious, and you couldn't help but smile at its antics. It was as if the Far Far Range had decided to gift you a moment of pure joy amidst your work, and an apology for the chaos you had to go through.

After the area was finally clean, you decided to take a stroll around the ranch, checking in on each corral and saying hello to your various slime residents, the lucky slime still never leaving your side.

Y/N: How are you guys doing today?

You greeted the pink tabby largos with a warm smile, tossing them some delicious fruits, which they cheered before gobbling up in seconds. Then you moved on to the rock phosphor largos, who were basking in the sunlight.

Y/N: Enjoying the warmth, huh? Me too.

The interactions with your slimes never failed to make you smile. They were your friends, your companions on this remote planet. Each one had its own personality and quirks, and you cherished every single one. As you continued your rounds, you noticed something different about the tabby phosphor corral. A lone phosphor slime was sitting outside the gate, looking a bit down. You approached it gently, kneeling down to its level.

Y/N: Hey there, what are you doing out here?

The phosphor slime blinked up at you, its large eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and curiosity.

Y/N: Did you escape during the chaos last night?

The phosphor slime nodded, its bioluminescent body casting a soft glow on your face. It seemed to have gotten separated from its corral during the Tarr attack.

Y/N: Well, you can't just stay out here all alone. Let's get you back where you belong.

You carefully scooped up the phosphor slime and placed it back into its corral, the other tabby phosphor slimes greeting it with excited chirps.

Y/N: There you go, little buddy. You're safe now.

The phosphor slime seemed to perk up immediately, its glow becoming brighter as it joined its corral mates.

Y/N: Looks like everyone's back where they should be.

With a contented sigh, you stood up and stretched. The ranch was slowly returning to its peaceful state, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. You had faced a terrifying threat and emerged victorious, not just for yourself but for your slimes too. As the day continued, you tended to your ranch tasks, feeding your slimes, collecting plorts, and exploring the surrounding areas for resources. Something was soothing about the routine of it all, the familiar sounds and sights of your ranch becoming a comforting backdrop to your day.

The sun began to set once again, casting a warm golden glow across the landscape. You took a moment to sit on a rock. The lucky slime snuggled happily in your lap as you watched the stars twinkle in the darkening sky.

Y/N: Another day done, and the ranch is safe and sound. Can't ask for anything better.

The lucky slime responded with a cheerful jingle, its gooey body shimmering in the fading light. It seemed to understand the sentiment behind your words, offering its own brand of comfort and camaraderie. As night fully descended, you decided it was time to retreat back to your home. You carefully placed the lucky slime on the ground, giving it a pat on the head.

Y/N: Time for me to get some rest, and you too, I suppose.

The lucky slime playfully hopped around, as if it wanted to follow you inside. You chuckled and shook your head.

Y/N: Sorry, buddy, but my house isn't quite built for slimy guests. But thanks for today, little guy...I needed it.

With a last fond glance at the lucky slime, you returned to your home. As you settled into your bed and drifted off to sleep, the memory of the moonlit Tarr attack faded into the background, replaced by the serene beauty of your ranch and the promise of a new day on the horizon.
