The Balarama Krishnas killed their uncle Kamsa, who was extremely cruel, and placed his father Ugrasena Maharaja on the throne. In a way, Ugrasena is the figurehead of the state. Ugrasena's younger son-in-law, Balaramakrishna ruled with his father Vasudeva as the regent.
