|Chp. 16: A Prince and an Alpha|

Quinn let me get all the sleep I desired before he woke me up around the time the sun had begun to set.

"They brought dinner." Quinn said as he set a wooden plate in front of me and sat down in one of the chairs. I blinked as I got up. Lupa had moved next to Eden and was in the process of tearing up the leg of meat she had.

Eden is doing the same thing. He had moved himself during the time I had slept and is more center in the room. His leg is a bit larger than Lupa's. He had managed to get himself an entire large leg of what looks to be a moose.

Quinn has a plate in his hand showing seasoned meat. That is all that they had sent today. Seasoned meat with one slice of bread in case we wanted that. I ended up giving Quinn my piece of bread.

I silently ate my food while cutting it up into the small bits I desired. Quinn finished his before turning to me with a smile on his face.

"Thank you for staying with me." I told him and Quinn nodded as he finished his bread.

"You don't have to keep thanking me Silver. I told you I would have done this for you regardless of what happens." Quinn gave me a smile.

I nodded at that as I finished my meat and set the wooden plate down with his.  I turned to him and hugged him. Quinn wrapped his arms around me before he let go as there was a knock at the door.

I was never given the privacy to deny anyone from coming in. I looked up as Smoke walked through the door followed by Summer. Lupa pinned her ears back as Summer came in and Eden looked over.

Summer sat down at Smoke's feet and looked up at his person. "You two get up and follow me." Smoke spoke as Summer stood up.

Quinn to my surprise didn't argue as he got up and Eden followed him. Quinn motioned for me to follow him. I got down and went behind him as Smoke turned around and exited the room. We followed him out of the infirmary and to the place that the wolves lived in.

I had only gotten a few glances at it but now I could see perfectly. Numerous fires were lit throughout the sort of campgrounds. Houses of all kinds were scattered about. There were simple houses made from wood around the forest to cabins right down to one stone house in the distance.

My best guess is the stone house is where Grey and his mate live. It would make sense for the alpha of the pack to have one of the best houses.

People watched us as we walked through. Their eyes darted between Eden and Lupa unsure who to look at. The polar bear or the wolf who is smaller than them. But they stopped staring when Smoke looked over.

Him being the next alpha gave him a degree of power that made the pack respect him. I knew he was in line to be the alpha. I didn't even need anyone to confirm it for me.

It was all in the way he held himself. The standards he put himself to. He held himself at a dominant level. A level of he knew who he had to respect and how to go about getting respect for himself without pure fear.

Even I knew that one thing. Most alphas preferred to win the respect of their pack not through violence but through who they are. Wolves won't follow a weak alpha, but most don't want to follow a cruel one unless they are cruel as well.

Smoke stopped outside a small log cottage. He opened the door and waited for us to go in. Quinn went in first followed by Eden who just barely fit through the door before Lupa trotted in as I followed her.

"This is the place my dad wants you two at. It's one of the cottages we have. There is a fireplace over there for when it gets cold and one bed." Smoke pointed to each place.

"You can either make your own food or go to the kitchens for it which is on the west side of the grounds." Smoke turned to Summer who left the cottage after that. Lupa had darted off to go sniff around the cottage.

"It's a nice cottage." I murmured.

"Yes, it's one of the newer ones. My dad is replacing a lot of the houses here for better ones." Smoke explained and I nodded. Quinn had gone to go sit down on one of the fur rugs.

"My dad said he'd come over shortly." Those were Smoke's last words before he left the cottage looking uncomfortable.

I shut the door before turning to Quinn who was at the fireplace arranging the logs. It had begun to snow so he was no doubt preparing for it. I came over and sat down with him as Quinn smiled up at me.

"Nice place they put us in." Quinn stated as he looked around the cottage.

"Not a castle made of literal ice, but I'm sure it'll suit you." I told him with a smirk.

Quinn turned over to me as I gave him a smile. His eyes trailed up and down as he moved closer over to me. "You ever going to let me live it down?" Quinn asked.

"Live what down that you were a prince or that you lived in a castle?" I asked him.

"Both." Quinn answered.

"Probably never. It's not often that you get to be in the presence of royalty." I responded with a smirk now that we were officially alone in the cottage. We hadn't been alone like this in such a long time.

Not since the bears came and offered us a place with them. Quinn's parents castle wasn't even that quiet. Someone was always walking by.

"Don't call me royalty." Quinn said.

"Why? You are a prince after all." I asked.

"I'm Quinn. I am a prince, but I am Quinn first. Don't treat me as if I'm above you because I'm from a royal family." Suddenly a smirk crossed Quinn's face telling me I was in for it. "But if we want to go down that route we can," Quinn started.

I watched him with suspicion in me.

"You Silver happen to be from a line of dire wolves. . . alpha dire wolves. I mean you've seen Grey and Smoke. You happen to be from that line. So, it seems I'm not the only one who is special or hiding things." Quinn smiled.

"I didn't know I am half dire wolf and I'm only half, it's not like I'm purebred the way Smoke no doubt is." I responded.

"Still at the end of the day Silver you have dire wolf running through you. A wolf thought to be extinct, one of the titan creatures. Pretty amazing if you ask me." Quinn smiled at me giving me a knowing smile.

"So, who here is the interesting one Silver? Me or you?" Quinn asked.

"Both of us are equaling interesting. You are a prince of a polar bear kingdom while I am half dire wolf from a line who is an alpha." I responded and Quinn smirked at me.

"Stop trying to downplay yourself Silver. It doesn't suit you too well." Quinn mused.

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Start the fire, I am craving some soup for dinner. I'll see if I can get anything for it." I told him and Quinn simply smirked at me. But he turned around and arranged the logs as I left.

I didn't expect my search to be successful. While looking for a small animal to hunt a young wolf told me the kitchens would give me food if I asked. Unsure if a prank was being pulled on me, I went in with caution.

There were four people who managed the kitchens.

They were prepping a deer when I came in. The one to greet me was an elderly woman who gave me a warm smile before asking what I needed. She led me to the food storage and gave me a basket after I requested food.

I ended up picking out elk along with a few vegetables and some broth they had stewing as soup sounded good. After that I went back to the cottage with the food where Quinn had the fire going and a pot over it.

"I got things for soup." I told him setting down the basket.

"And a basket." Quinn commented and I nodded.

Quinn moved over and pulled the basket over and smiled as he took the things out. "Look you even thought of me and got vegetables." Quinn smiled at me, and I returned the smile.

Quinn sorted through it all before he cut up the meat and tossed it in the pot along with the broth and sliced veggies before he got up to make sure everything would be cooked.

He had left some meat over for Eden and Lupa which I gave to them. The two were more than happy to devour the elk down and lick their chops hoping to get some of our soup. I would request some more meat for them tomorrow.

Soon Quinn had the soup all made and removed the pot from over the fire and set it down as he found some bowls crafted from wood in the cottage for us to use. After that he filled his bowl up and then mine full of the meat and broth.

"Thank you." I told Quinn and he smiled at me as he moved over until he was next to me.

"Well let's eat."

1608. Just a cute chapter of the Quinn and Silver. ***
