42 - The Christams Special (Not Really)

Y/N POV

Ah, Christmas Eve. A day to relax, be around friends and family, and pretend for two days that you aren't possibly being hunted down by a dick named Charles and you punched your ex-best friend in the face because he kissed you without your consent and accidentally made one of your four crushes realize he's acting like the kidnapper in Tangled.

Ash, Mark, Joe, Will, and I agreed to pretend all is well for Christmas Eve and Christmas day because this is my first Christmas in the UK.

James and Aria left us to our own devices so they could have their own Christmas celebration with Otto. Aria did tell me that if I somehow see Mari to give her a call so she can kick him right where it hurts. I assured her that Wilbur would be more than happy to play the role as my personal bodyguard if that impossible scenario were to ever happen. She still insists that I call if I were to ever see him.

I slid the star on the top of the tree and smiled over at Wilbur and Joe who were pouring glasses of whisky for all of us. "Now that is a Christmas tree" Mark said, smiling at it. I went off of the chair and took a glass from Will's hands.

"It's beautiful" Joe said. Ash nodded in agreement. I squealed and hugged Ash, "I can't wait for tomorrow!" I said in excitement. Will laughed, "Don't say that, Y/n! Now it's going to feel like forever until tomorrow comes!" I smiled, "Well, what's something we all like that can help us pass the time?"

"Hi! Table for five, please" Will said. The waitress nodded and guided us to a table. "Why are we at such a fancy place?" Mark asked, looking around at the velvet paintings, giant windows, and hearing the soft music an orchestra was playing on a small stage at the front of the restaurant.

We sat down and I looked over at Mark, "Why not fancy?" I asked him. He grinned and shook his head, "I can't argue with that."

"Hi, I'm Sabrina and I'll be your waiter for today. What can I get started for you?" the waitress asked us. We ordered our food and she gave us a nod and a smile before walking off. "Will, I think she likes you" Joe whispered. Will raised an eyebrow, "What? What makes you say that?" he asked Joe.

"Her batting her eyes and smiling a bit wider at you than any of us" Joe pointed out. "You mean blinking?" I questioned. "I'm right! Next time she comes to this table look how she reacts to Wilbur compared to the rest of us" Joe said, shrugging.

"Joe, I think you're being-" "Alright! Here are your drinks!" Sabrina, the waitress, said. She set down each drink at a time. "Have you decided on what you want to eat?" she asked us, her eyes falling away from the drinks and onto Will. My heart skipped a beat. Was she really finding Will attractive?

I blinked a couple times in awe as I studied the waitress continue to give Will a warm smile as he ordered. Her face noticeably fell a little when she turned to get the rest of our orders. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Why should I be jealous? He's not my boyfriend. He's my friend. Nothing less nothing more.

She walked away and I waited for her to go to the backroom so I could talk without being paranoid. "Joe is completely right" I said in a frustrated tone. Joe slammed his hand on the table and pointed at me, "Hah! I told you!" he exclaimed.

"You seem frustrated by it, Y/n" Ash noted. I looked up at him, caught off guard a bit. "Well, you know, got to make sure he ends up with a lovely girl" I replied. I could feel Will's eyes burn into the side of my face. I pretended not to notice.

I was surprised. None of the guys were pushing Will to make a move with he. I knew they would never pass up a chance to do that! Were they nervous because of recent events?

"You should ask her out" I said, breaking the silence. Will looked at me, almost frightened by the idea. "You should" I stood by what I said. Every word pained me to say. But I knew that is he did ask her out and she accepted and they lived happily ever after, then I would only have three crushed to completely die over instead of four. Right?

"Do you really think so?" he asked me. I nodded, "I know so." It was like lunging a knife deep in my own heart and twisting the blade.

"I agree" Mark said. I smiled at Mark, my way of giving him a "Thank you" for not making things awkward.

Wilbur gulped. "Okay, maybe I will ask her out" he told himself. "Do it!" Joe exclaimed; Ash elbowed Joe in the arm to make him quiet down. I smiled wider, I missed this. "Here she comes!" Mark gasped. "You got this" I told Wilbur.

That's when I felt something. His eyes burned on mine. I did the same back at him. It didn't give me butterflies. It made me feel like I was just glue in my seat. As if I melted on the seat and hardened over time so now, I was stuck there for the rest of time. He gave me a nod.

"Alright, here is your food" she said, putting it down. "Um, excuse me...are you free this week by any chance?" Will asked her. A small voice crack that was barely noticeable escaping his throat with the question. The girl gave him a warm smile.

"How did I not notice the ring on her finger?! She's engaged!" Will exclaimed as we piled in the car. Mark and I were still laughing our heads off. "Don't forget she's a lesbian too" Mark added. Will turned completely red. "She's just a fan. That's why she was...UGH! Fuck me!" Will exclaimed in pure embarrassment.

I couldn't help but feel sour. I had no right to feel that way. I was literally just barely jealous because I thought she liked Wilbur. And now I'm upset she doesn't feel romantically attracted to him!? Something is wrong with me, I'm sure.

Merry Christmas I guess...and a happy new year.
