Chapter 30- Jax King

Nobu's POV

What a Saturday morning. I honestly didn't know what to think about first. I met Ro's 'parents', then we found out they weren't, and then, that Ro's father was actually the infamous Jax King. To top it all off his father's gang and their rival gang were looking for Ro, the database being the only way they could track him down, and council law means the only way to take his profile off the database was if he was mated. So now the council were arriving in about an hour, expecting Ro and I to be mated, which we weren't.

'Yet.' Eidolon purred. He was very happy about the turn of events, that it meant we could mate with Ro a lot sooner than intended. I had put on a front to convince Jasper but to be honest I needed some convincing myself. I wanted Ro to be my mate, there was no question about that, it was just the sex I was worried about. I was nervous, being that intimate with Ro and slightly scared from being told it would hurt. It was a huge step, a life changing event, and it was happening so soon, I was so overwhelmed.

I was curled up in the armchair, the smell of breakfast cooking in the air but I had lost my appetite, I was too anxious. Jasper and Otto had gone out, to get 'a bucket of lube' according to Jasper, he was joking wasn't he? Dad had explained what it was but my grasp on it was weak, surely we wouldn't need a bucket of it. I was purring to myself, trying to keep myself calm, I couldn't say it was working. I just kept imagining Ro trying to fit inside of me, to me it seemed impossible, I was scared about the pain.

'Don't be Nobu, like you said, he is big, but he's made for us, he is made to fit inside of us. Yes it will hurt at first, but it will feel immensely good after. You have to get pricked by the thorns to pick up the rose.' He told me, trying to ease my worries. His idiom didn't really help but I got the meaning, but no matter what he could say I would still feel perturbation.

"Nobu, breakfasts ready!" mum called and it sounded like it wasn't the first time she'd said it. I languidly got up and went over to the laundry pile, pulling on some clothes and shifting back to my human form, sitting down at the table. I looked down at our the usual fry up we had on Saturday and I felt sick rather than hungry, my empty stomach unsettled and twisting uneasily. I pushed the food around on my plate with my fork, not eating it and I flinched when the door to the garage banged open. Jasper and Otto walked in and I blinked when I saw that he had in fact brought a bucket, and it was filled with bottles of clear gel, so that's what it looked like. He set it down on the floor, looking very pleased with himself and they sat down and dug into their food.

"You actually brought a bucket of lube?" Ro voiced with disbelief and Jasper grinned with self-pride. His antics didn't amuse me this time, it made me feel worse, why was there so much? I sighed to myself and poked a sausage with my fork, my stomach rumbled but I couldn't bear to eat anything, I was salivating more than usual and had to swallow it down but it made me feel nauseous. My lungs felt like they were getting squeezed, my breaths shallow and hastened. I felt hot and sweaty, my hands clammy.

'Calm down Nobu.' Eidolon told me and I felt him push calming waves towards me. I drew in a deep breath and felt some of the tension ease a little. I forced myself to at least eat something, scooping up some scrambled eggs with little enthusiasm. The table was quiet, the only sounds was cutlery clinking against plates, everyone was worked up about what had happened this morning, and what was going to happen.

Whilst everyone else was finishing their breakfast I wasn't even half way though mine, I went to pick up my glass of water and instead ended up knocking it over. I groaned and rubbed my face, great. "Are you alright Nobu?" mum worried, mopping up the water with some paper towels and I sighed deeply.

"Thinking about turkeys?" Jasper quipped and I growled, now wasn't the time for joking. A hand came to rest on my back and rubbed in a soothing manor, I leaned against the owner of the hand, their scent calming me and I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath, relaxing against them.

'Mate.' Eidolon purred as Ro's hand moved to wrap around my shoulders.

"Aren't you hungry dear?" mum asked in a concerned tone, noticing my half-eaten plate. I shook my head weakly and nosed Ro's throat, his scent like serenity on tap.

A knock sounded at the door and I opened my eyes, everyone looked towards the door for a few moments. Dad sighed and stood up, going to answer it. We heard a few words back and forth, whom ever was at the door was male. The front door closed and dad walked back into the room, a man following closely behind, with a face seen on many wanted posters. It was Jax King. I felt Ro tense against me at seeing his birth father.

I studied his features, seeing his light green eyes, the back and sides of his hair shaved, his dirty blond hair heavily mused. His tanned skin, the strong jaw and pronounced cheekbones, his stature so like Ro's. The scars in the shape of claws starting on his left cheek and ending on his plump lips, so similar to Ro's. His clothes fitting his position and way of life; white muscle T under a leather bikers jacket, heavily worn and ripped straight jeans in a very distressed and black colour, boots peeking out from the ripped hems. He looked intimidating and strong but his features didn't portray that. He looked at Ro with such emotion, the love and affection in his eyes, the pain and relief, the smile on his scarred lips, it was so pure for a man who had done such un-pure things, after seventeen years of looking and searching, he had finally found his son. "Reuben?" he whispered softly, almost not believing that he had finally found his son. So his birth given name was Reuben King?

Ro's POV

He found me. Jax King, my birth father. I saw myself reflected in his eyes, I was definitely his son, I could feel it. My name was Reuben? Reuben King? It was better than Ambrose Bartholomew Vanderbilt anyway. I didn't know what to feel. I was happy I had finally met my real father but not sure because of what I'd heard that he'd done. "Is that really you my son?" he murmured, his voice a deep throaty rumble.

Nobu threaded his fingers through mine, squeezing my hand in a reassuring manor. I watched my father over Nobu's head, the smell of his bergamot and cedarwood shampoo in my nose soothing, keeping me calm. I wondered all of a sudden, what would he think of Nobu? For some reason I wanted to please him, make him proud of me, it was a strange but not unpleasant feeling.

He slowly came over, Nobu's family tense and quiet, holding their breaths. He came to stand in front of me and I looked up at him, the two pairs of light green eyes staring into one another. "Is this where you've been hiding all these years?" he questioned and gently ran his calloused digits through my hair lovingly, looking at Nobu's family accusingly.

"No." I answered and his eyes found mine again.

"You knew I was looking?" he indicted, looking hurt and betrayed.

"Only for the past half an hour." I told him and his features softened again. He sighed and continued to play with my hair, his head tilted to the side a little.

"How much do you know?" he inquired and I saw him eye Nobu's and I's clasped hands.

"That I was taken from you by your rivals and left at an orphanage." I gave him a short reply and pain flickered in his eyes.

"I guess that's the basics." he murmured quietly, exhaling deeply. "But have you been looked after?" he stressed. It was nice that he was concerned for my welfare, I would say seventeen years too late but it wasn't his fault.

"I have." I assured and he looked around the table with interest, focusing on Nobu the most.

"Is this your adoptive family?" he guessed.

"I moved here alone when I was sixteen, my adoptive parents brought me here as the Dead Rabbits were looking for me. This family moved here about three weeks ago." I corrected and he frowned, his hand slipping away from me.

"And who's this?" he pushed, looking down at Nobu and I held him tighter, which didn't get passed him, causing him to smirk.

"My mate." I growled possessively and his smile widened into a grin.

"See you got my charm." he chuckled lightly and ran his fingers through his own hair, brushing the strands away from his face. "But he's not yours quite yet hmm?" he pointed out and I could feel my jaguar displeased at that. I huffed and nosed Nobu's hair, stirring up his scent.

He squatted beside Nobu and took his free hand in one of his, sniffing his wrist, his brows furrowing. He sniffed again and studied Nobu. "What are you cutie?" he asked Nobu, the endearment causing him to blush a little, his ears reddening a bit. He hid his face in my neck again and I snuffed and rubbed his shoulder, looking down at my father and he looked up at me expectantly. Do I tell him? I glanced around, Lukas nodded at me minutely. I turned back to him, he was sniffing Nobu's wrist again, a look of concentration on his face.

"He's an Ounce." I revealed and his eyes went wide. He studied my face, slight disbelief on his features, but I bet he could see that I was telling the truth.

"Are the Dead Rabbits still after your son?" Lukas spoke up and Jax turned to the sound of the voice, straightening and letting go of Nobu's hand.

"Why is that your concern?" he prodded.

"This address is on the database and we care for your son." Lukas answered and my heart swelled at his declaration. Jax snorted at his words and crossed his arms.

"You're worried for your own hides." he refuted and Lukas' face hardened a little, that was a bit presumptuous.

"Well that's bullshit." Jasper spoke up, took him longer than I'd thought. Jax looked over Jasper, seeming to size him up.

"You have a big mouth cub." he told Jasper, who grinned with mirth, in the way only he could. Jax seemed surprised by his reaction, Jasper was definitely an interesting one.

"We were willing to have a family member skewered for your son, to keep him safe, I just call bull when I see it." he carried on, Jax raised a brow at his words, seeming confused. I groaned internally, here he goes again, does he have no decorum?

"Skewered?" he echoed.

"Does your son take after you in that department?" he inquired, ignoring the question. Really? How could he ask that? It's not the sort of question you ask anyone, let alone my father. Plus it puts uncomfortable thoughts in my head, i certainly didn't want to know the answer.

"What's with you and innuendoes Jasper?" I sighed out and he turned his grin to me.

"Saying it plainly is no fun, I enjoy the challenge." he reasoned.

"And buying a bucket of lube is a challenge?" I retorted and he had a smug and proud look on his face.

"Hold up." Jax spoke up. "Let me get this straight, I'm guessing you're his brother." he said to Jasper, indicating to Nobu, he nodded his head in confirmation. "And you're saying that you brought them a bucket of lube, because their mating to take my son off the database?" he gathered, Jasper nodded again. "But why a bucket?" he questioned.

"Because I want my little brother to be able to walk after." he stated and Nobu groaned into my neck, probably from embarrassment. Jax sent me a look, like he was asking if Jasper was serious.

"It seems I started something." Lukas sighed. "What I wanted to know was if Ro's profile still needs to be taken down from the database." he asked, rephrasing his earlier question.

"Ro?" he repeated and looked down at me.

"It's short for Ambrose." I supplied and he nodded, a pained smile ghosting his lips.

"So you're wondering if your son still needs to mate with mine?" Jax surmised, talking to Lukas now.

"It's not a question of if, but when. They seem completely set on each other but it's very soon. I've already called the council saying their mated, so either I need to call them to say in fact they're not, or they need to mate before they get here." Lukas explained.

"You're willing to let your son mate with someone he's known for three weeks?" Jax prodded, in slight disbelief and concern.

"Guess he really got your charm." Lukas joked. "But my son isn't the most outgoing, and he likes your son, they are agapes. Ro is a wonderful young man, I would be lucky to have him as a son in law." he informed and Jax looked at Nobu and I in astonishment and joy.

"Are you sure?" he asked me in a serious tone.

"He is my everything already dad, and he has an emerald green aura." I assured. I felt Nobu move closer to me, a purr sounding at my declaration, making me smile. He smiled warmly back but he sighed in a stressed manor.

"The Dead Rabbits are still after him. Ro shifted early after he was born so I highly doubt they have checked the database yet, they would be here if they had. I would rather not start a war in this little town." he divulged and we all got the memo; the mating was still on.

"And I've killed enough this week." Lukas agreed, earning a raised brow from Jax. "Poachers." he elaborated and Jax growled. Otto looked at his watch and sighed,

"You said they'd be here in an hour, and that was twenty minutes ago." Otto pointed out and Lukas frowned.

"Hurry up then." Jasper shooed us. "And don't forget the bucket of lube." he added with a smirk and Jax shook his head. I looked down at Nobu, but he was still pressed against me. I slid my arm under his legs and lifted him up, making him squeak in surprise and clutch onto my shoulders. I snagged only one bottle of lube on my way up and heard Jasper calling back, saying I was forgetting something. I just rolled my eyes and carried Nobu upstairs.
