Day Four

On Thursday, when Savannah walked into her math class, she found that Nick wasn't in his usual seat already. Her smile dropped slightly, but nevertheless, she said hello to Mr. Romero and made her way to her usual seat. She set her bag down at her feet and got out her blue notebook and pastel yellow pencil case, getting out her favourite blue gel pen to write the date.

For the next two minutes and thirty-two seconds - yes, she counted - Savannah stared at the open door of the classroom, waiting for him to walk through the door. And when he finally did, his eyes immediately seeked her out, meeting her gaze. Savannah's lips pulled up into a wide smile at the sight of him as she sat up properly in her seat.

Nick's face softened when he saw her, and although he didn't smile and his features stayed expressionless, his eyes told her all she needed to know. When he took his seat beside her and turned to face her, his eyes held a soft, gentle look that she knew she would come to love. "Hi, Van," He was the first to greet her today, and Savannah's heart swelled.

"Hello, Nicky," Savannah grinned, turning her body to face him fully. She leant her elbow on her desk with her head in her hand, staring up at him. "How did you sleep?"

Nick's eyes found hers and he paused. His lips twitched. But he didn't smile. "Better,"

"Good," Savannah grinned, "I'm glad,"

"Good morning class," Their conversation was cut short by Mr. Romero, as it was every day, and Savannah turned back to face the teacher who had begun the lesson.

Nick's eyes didn't move though. They stayed locked on the girl beside him. The girl with long, strawberry blonde curls and sparkling hazel eyes. The girl with constantly pink cheeks and an ever-present smile on her lips. Savannah. Van. The girl that Nick met three days ago. And the girl that he couldn't seem to get out of his head.
