Mission

"Mitch! Behind you!" Scott shouted through the rain of bullets. Mitch turned around and fired a few shots, the sniper fell on his back and droplets of blood leaked from the tower where he was positioned.

"We're surrounded!" Mitch shouted back. He saw Scott squatting behind a few iron boxes, bullets hit the surface several times but never got past through it. His right arm was wounded and he had difficulties when aiming but nonetheless he put down several enemies. Not for nothing they called him Death Shooter.

"I'll cover you, just go and get cover in that building over there. I'll follow afterwards!" Scott stared at Mitch, counted to three and yelled at him to go. Mitch wasted no time and started running, bullets hit a few inches away from his feet but never hit him. He was just pressing himself against the wall when an enemy shot him on his leg, Mitch cried in pain and quickly used his belt to make a tourniquet. He heard a big thump and saw that his shooter was taken down, Scott had shot him on the chest. Seconds later he was next to him.

"Is it fatal?" He calmly asked. The worst you do in situations like this was freak out.

"No, I'll survive"

"Do you think you can make it to the extraction area?" Mitch was feeling light headed but nodded anyways. "Good, now come on" Scott picked up his gun and put his arm around Mitch to help him.

They moved as fast as Mitch's leg would let them, round the corner and up the stairs. There was a thin bridge made of wood and metal that crossed from the building they were to the next one, Mitch spotted at least 4 enemies below waiting for someone to cross it.

"We're fucked" Mitch grunted.

"No, we're not" Scott looked inside his left pocket and found a grenade. "That'd be enough but we will have to be quick" He tore the safety apart with his teeth and threw it down, seconds later it exploded making both of them tumble back.

"We don't have much time go!" They crossed the bridge swiftly, a few shots were heard but none reached them. Once they were in the next building they took cover in the living room of the apartment.

"How did we end up like this?" Mitch sighed, his leg hurt a lot and he was glad once Scott lay him on the couch.

"Stupid Robert and his stupid clumsiness, all he had to do was take down ONE guard" Scott rubbed his temples, that fucker owe us a lot. Robert was the bait, the new one. He had to kill the guard who checked the cameras but when he did, he sent a table down the stairs making the rest of them know where Mitch and Scott were. "I'm going to kill him"

"If he isn't dead already"

"Right" Scott took out a map and laid it on top of the coffee table. "So we're here" He pointed at a small red circle that was surrounded by two buildings. "We need to get to the extraction area but we don't have much time, ten minutes top"

"Scott..." Mitch was already starting to loose consciousness, even though he had the tourniquet he was still loosing blood due to the effort of escaping.

"No. Mitch, don't pass out okay? You're going to make it. Hey!" Scott shook Mitch's head a little bit which caused him to open his eyes. "Good. Now, stay with me" Mitch nodded.

"I'm here"

"Okay you can't keep going like this. This is going to hurt but it will be easier to stop the bleeding" Scott looked into Mitch's eyes and took out his knife.

"Shit" Mitch muttered under his breath, he knew what was coming. "Just hurry up" Scott cut Mitch's pants where the wound was and came across a pretty awful mess. He opened his water bottled and cleaned the wound a little bit before inserting the tip of his knife in Mitch's leg. Mitch had to muffle a scream, in ten seconds the bullet was out and Scott was already making another tourniquet.

"Done, are you okay?"

"Yeah yeah let's go" And out they went. Now they were in an open area, a hundred yards away a tall wall of trees showed the beginning of a forest and a few more yards ahead laid the extracting point where a chopper was waiting for them. Once they opened the back door they begun to run, they heard enemies shouting and shooting at them. It was all a chaotic mess, Scott begun to wonder why weren't they dead yet.

A few more yards... THUMP. They were tackled to the ground. Mitch cried out in pain as he landed on his wounded foot. Scott quickly stood up to face their attacker, it was a strong big guy who was carrying only a knife. Scott would have held up his gun but it flew several inches away from him during the impact.

"Surrender and we will spare your lives" The guys said.

"Lay down your knife and I'll spare yours" Scott fired back. The broad guy got furious and came after him, he threw a punch but Scott dodged it and hit him square on the jaw. This sent the attacker tumbling down, Scott was soon on top of him hitting him out of consciousness. He stop what he was doing after he heard Mitch crying, he looked up only to find him sitting against a tree putting pressure on his wound.

"Are you okay?" Scott asked, Mitch nodded. "It's okay shhh" Scott wiped his tears and placed a soft kiss on Mitch's forehead. "We're going to be fine, I can hear the helicopter from here. One final run I promise" Mitch gulped down his cry and leaned closer to kiss him. He knew this was his only chance to do it as it was not allowed back in the camp.

Scott lifted his boyfriend up on his feet again and together they headed to their means of escape. A few minutes later they were already inside the chopper.

"What the hell was that?" Kirstin, the pilot and their really good friend asked.

"Ask Robbert" She just shook her head.

"We'll need to get to the headquarters as soon as possible, Mitch was shot"

"Gotcha, I'll go as fast as I can"

"Can you walk?" Scott asked. They had just landed and Kirstie was calling the operational centre to inform that Mitch was hurt and needed medical attention immediately.

"I think so" Mitch attempted to move forward but his leg gave in, he gripped Scott's shoulder to avoid falling to the ground. "Nevermind"

"They have doctors ready at the main door, we just have to get him there and everything will be taken care of" Kirstie announced. "Oh and Robert is there too"

"Don't hurt him" Mitch pleaded. Scott rolled his eyes and cursed under his breath.

"Fine. But I will definitely talk to him" They approached the doors with Kirstie leading the way, she had her gun pressed to her side always on reach. When the bulletproof glass doors opened, a pair of paramedics were waiting with a stretcher. Scott lifted Mitch carefully and laid him down, he hissed in pain and closed his eyes. Quickly, the paramedics took him to the hospital ward where he was going to be treated.

"There's your chance" Kirstie whispered. Robert was leaning against the wall where a doctor was checking on him, he had a small cut on his cheekbone but apart from that he looked intact. Scott walked towards him, his gun pressed to his chest.

"Hello Robert" He said angrily. Robert looked up and met his glare.

"Hi Scott"

"What on earth were you thinking soldier?" Scott had a higher rank than him, he was one of the most respected ranger on the field. Mitch was his second in command, always looking after his back. "You almost got Mitchell killed"

"I'm sorry, I swear it will never happen again. I just didn't see that table" His excuse was poor.

"You 'didn't see it' you say" Scott leaned forward and stood inches away from Robert's face "There better not be a next time or I'll personally hit you in the head with a bullet. Understood?"

"Yessir"

"Your actions are forgiven but will never be forgotten. You better prove that you're trustworthy or you're out"
Scott turned around, not caring about the impact that his words made on Robert. He went to his room and changed clothes, he then cleaned the gun and put it away. He was in the middle of reading a book when someone knocked on his door.

"Mitch" Scott said. "What are you doing here? You should be resting your leg" He put an arm around his waist and brought him in, he carefully helped him sit on the bed.

"I'm fine, it's not that bad" He smiled at him. "You saved me"

"Mit-"

"No, listen. You saved me, and it's not the first time you do it. You're constantly taking care of me when it should be the other way around. I'm the one supposed to cover your back, sometimes I wonder if I should just quit. I'm definitely not doing a good job out there" He looked at his lap and played with his fingers. Scott put a finger under Mitch's chin and lifted his head up.

"That's not true. You're one of the bravest soldiers I've ever met, you're always focused and you never let your emotions cloud your judgment. You're an excellent partner and I'm honoured to have you as my second in command. Besides, your aim is flawless" Mitch giggled. Scott brought their lips together for a small kiss. It was short but full of meaning, they never get to show this kind of affection around the headquarters so they always made this tiny moments worthy.

"Can I see your leg?" Scott asked. Whenever Mitch gets hurt he always likes to see the wounds just to check that he isn't being modest about his condition. The brunette one scarcely admits when something hurts badly so its Scott's job to make sure he's alright.

Mitch sighed and lay down putting his legs on Scott's lap. The blond one rolled up his pants and saw that the wound was carefully patched up. He didn't dare to take it off so he trusted Mitch this time. "Does it hurt?"

"Yeah, kinda" Mitch sat up and kissed Scott's jaw. "My saviour" Scott laughed.

"Go to your room"

"I sleep here you dumbass"

"Whatever" Scott let Mitch sleep on his bed and he went to rest on Mitch's.
