Don't Leave Me

Beam lay on his back staring at the ceiling of Forth's dorm room. His head still running non-stop from their fight earlier. He hears the whiz of the air conditioner coming back on and patter of rain against the balcony windows.  There is the faint sound of Forth's breathing. Their fight had been ugly and it was his fault. Instead of being up front with Forth about what upset him he decided to pick apart Forth's past.  The lump in his throat coming back as his brain focused on the moment right before Forth had left the room.

"I love you, Beam. I don't know what happened but I know this is for sure it isn't about me liking N'Yo or E'Tay in the past." Forth stated firmly his face twisted in confusion and hurt. He turned around grabbing his jacket to leave.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?!" Beam yelled making a step forward.

"To give us some space –" Forth yelled back at him and all the anger drained from Beam's body instantly. A sickening knot forming in his stomach. The words of N'Milk breathing life to the strings of fear entangling him. His face must have still appeared angry because when he went to speak to tell him that's not what he wanted Forth cut him off.

"I am getting us dinner." Forth snapped at him in that hazing tone he used for unruly juniors "You better be here when I get back Baramee Vongviphan." At that he'd grabbed both their sets of keys and left.

The knot hadn't stopped churning until he'd heard the twist of the doorknob and get Forth had stepped inside.  The two of them apologized to one another. Beam didn't tell him about the awful conversation between him and N'Milk but he apologized for what he had said. Forth apologized for yelling at him like that. After that the two of them ate their dinners quietly. The both of them drained from the fight. Forth had told Beam to go take a shower while he cleaned up their dinner.

Beam came out to find that Forth was already in their bed bringing them to the present. His heart felt heavy and he let out a shivering sigh. He was dressed in one of Forth's henleys and his own sweats but he still felt cold. The space between them felt like miles. That's not what he wanted. They hadn't gone through all that they had for his fears to keep the one person he loved away.

Beam turned on his side facing Forth and scooted closer so he could lay his head on Forth's chest. "Please don't leave me." He whispered almost in audibly as he wrapped an arm around Forth's stomach. Forth – who he thought was asleep, moved his arm around to bring him flush against him.

"Where would I go?"

"To someone who doesn't act like this."

"That'd be too easy and love isn't what's about easy." Forth replied kissing the top of Beam's head, "Now go to sleep before I think of a way to keep you from going to Auntie's morning class." Beam chuckled softly feeling the warmth from Forth's body lulling him to sleep.
