She Plays Her Own Songs Now

You played her like a violin,

You plucked at her heartstrings ,

You drew your bow across her spine,

Your harshness left a sting.

You treated her like an angel,

But tried to clip her wings

You chained her up to "keep her safe"

And bound her up with string.

You showed your prize to everyone

Like some fine work of art,

But you were never an artist

And you eventually broke her heart.

No one realized how you were

Until they saw her cry,

You beat her down with all your words

You told her she not to fly.

You failed to see how strong she'd grown

Or how she'd broken free,

Each word and stone you threw at her

Will now exact a fee.

She rains down with fury

Now you begin to understand,

That your words had hurt her more

Than the devil could command.

You pushed her down but she's back up

Staring you in the eyes,

The hatred you see there

Reflects the rumbling of the skies.

She's past you and won't look back

She has a new life now,

She's found someone who loves her

This time she's bound with vows.

She's built a throne upon her pain

But does not rule through fear,

She's a better queen than you could dream

Now that she's in the clear.

She's respected now like the queen she is

Known for her beauty and grace,

She's loved by all and feared by some

For she has found her place.

She plays her own songs now

Symphonies of laughter and light,

Her melodies are happy

But tell of her fierce fight.

She unfurls graceful wings

And flies up towards the clouds,

Reaching for her dreams

Making everyone so proud.

She paints her story as she likes

Mostly in yellows and greens,

She stays away from black and blue

She loves to paint her scenes.

She's beautiful in her bravery

And fierce in her pain,

She has finally found the strength

To wash away your stain.
