Chapter 31 - Wake Up

Chapter 31 - Wake Up

Jasper's POV

"I've gotta give it to you, kid, you got some balls coming in here and demanding my services like this," Don Varacalli raised an eyebrow, reclining on his seat as we sat in his office.

"Well, I believe there may be someone whom you would like to have a few words with," I shrugged as he narrowed his eyes at me in curiosity.

"And who would that be?"

"Marcus Sasz ring a bell?"

"Bastardo," he growled in Italian. "I will cut that son of a bïtch's balls off and feed it to the merda when I get my hands on him!"

"So, does that mean-"

"Where the fück is he then?" He interrupted, a slight smirk appearing on his face.

"At a warehouse a few hours from here," I replied as he stood up.

"There is only one bïtch who does her dirty work in a warehouse," he muttered, taking out a cigar from his desk.

"Lisbeth Cameron," I said as he nodded in confirmation.

"I've wanted her dead for too long, now," he stated casually, rubbing at his jaw before turning his full attention to me. "What are you going to get out of this?"

"Sir, with all due-"

"They've got your girl, haven't they?"

"Yes." I responded stoically.

Varacalli was one hell of a dangerous man and suffice it to say, I was pretty weary about him finding Scarlett out.

"Relax, boy, I'm not interested in your girl," he told me, his expression clearly amused.

"One thing I don't understand though," I began as he looked at me. "Why wouldn't you just hire someone to look for him yourself?"

"Because I've known where he was ever since he betrayed the Family," he shrugged as I stood there, confused. "I've had enough time to plan what I am going to do with that figlio di puttana, now it is just a case of striking while the iron is hot."

Fucking hell, what kind of neck deep shit had I gotten myself into?

If anything messes this up, it could cost Scarlett's life.

"Like I said, relax, boy. Scarlett Valentina means shït to me," he said, his cigar hanging lazily between his lips. "My men will meet you at the location at eight thirty. Do as they say; you and your girl will be fine - capito?"

"Si, signore," I replied nodding my head. "I will take my leave now. Grazie."

I left Don Varacalli's place and headed straight for my car, slamming the door shut behind me.

I was growing more and more impatient with every god forsaken minute passing, desperately trying not to think of the worst.

This was all my fault.

I hadn't looked after her.

I promised to never let anything hurt her, yet I let her walk straight into this.

Growling in frustration, I hit the gas and drove out of the city where within three hours I was at the location, Varacalli had directed me to. Eight black SUV's were parked neatly alongside each other before one of the doors opened as a tall bulky man stepped out in what looked like a SWAT uniform.

"Will Prescott," he greeted, extending a hand as I noticed his voice was completely void of any emotion.

"Jasper Queen," I shook his hand with a firm grip as he nodded.

"This is how it is going to work: on your signal, we enter the room Sasz, Cameron and Valentina are in, my men and I will tend to Sasz and Cameron while you find your girlfriend and exit the building-"

"I want to speak with him and the woman," I interrupted as he shook his head.

"Sir, if you were fully aware of the kind of bästard Sasz really was then I'm sure your only focus would be to tend to your girlfriend. God knows she'll need it after being kept hostage by the pair of them."

"Tell Varacalli to keep him alive until I get a chance to speak with him." I instructed through gritted teeth. "The same goes for the bïtch."

"I will let him know, Sir." He said. "In the meantime, my men and I are going cancel out any unnecessary threats."

I got back into the car and drove closely behind the SUVs, stopping a few metres away from the building.

"Give us two minutes." Will spoke as the men followed him.

I squeezed my eyes shut, praying Scarlett was in there and she was okay. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost her forever but I know I wouldn't be able to continue living without her.

She gave me spirit.

She bought me down to earth.

She showed me who I really was.

Exactly two minutes later, Will reappeared, nodding for me to follow him. Hastily, I jumped out and followed him to the entrance of the warehouse where four men lay lifelessly in pools of each other's blood.

These guys didn't take any chances that much was evident.

I stepped over the bodies, pushing the door open quietly as Will and the others marched behind me.

I could hear voices from behind a closed door as I pressed me ear to the door trying to listen.

"But I was your baby girl!" I heard Scarlett's voice sob as my heart thumped loudly against my ribcage.

She was alive.

The room inside became quiet until Lisbeth screeched suddenly.

"Oh, no, you don't!" I heard her bark. "I am going to make you suffer so badly you're going to wish mommy and daddy had finished the job sixteen years ago."

No, she fücking wasn't, I thought, rage controlling my body.

"Now." I barked at Will as I kicked the door open.

I could feel several pairs of eyes watching me but the only pair I could see were my baby's.

God, they had hurt her so badly.

"Not today, you little bïtch," I told Lisbeth, still keeping my eyes on Scarlett.

"Go," Will muttered in my ear as him and his men began firing shots.

I ran towards Scarlett, my eyes widening in horror upon seeing her properly.

Her beautiful face had been beaten black and blue, her once bright eyes were puffy and swollen, she was near naked and shivering uncontrollably.

My blood boiled in sheer anger when my eyes landed on her leg.

One of these fücker's had tortured Scarlett.

She was given another scar.

"Jasper," She sobbed quietly into my chest as I wrapped my arms around her thinning frame. "Is that you?"

"Scarlett," I whispered, unable to keep myself my together at seeing her like this as the tears ran down my cheek. "I'm so sorry, baby, I'm so sorry."

I felt her go body become heavier as her eyelids drooped and her breathing became hoarse and shallow.

"Scarlett!" I shook her body gently. "Scarlett, baby, wake up!"

"Mr Queen, we have them," Will announced as he came towards me. "I will drive you to the hospital. You don't seem in a fit enough state to do so yourself."

I lifted her up bridal style as I walked out of the building, ignoring the copious amount of blood everywhere.

Will drove quickly to the hospital as I kept checking Scarlett's pulse and breathing which were both considerably low and hoarse.

Will parked up inside the parking lot of the hospital as I jumped out of the car, carrying Scarlett into hospital as quick as I could as I could see the swarm of photographers and journalists making a beeline for the entrance.

"Call a doctor, now!" I barked at the receptionist who looked a little taken aback but complied anyhow.

"Whats happened here, son?" A doctor questioned while Scarlett's body lay on the stretcher as as she was being rushedaway from the reception.

"If you don't fücking save her, I'll kill you and every other goddamned person in that room," I sneered angrily, aware that I was being completely unreasonable.

But I couldn't care less.

"We'll do everything we can." He told me sympathetically as he followed the stretcher.

Several hours later, after constantly pacing up and down the corridor, I was getting sick to death of waiting around.

"Jasper, calm down, please," Emily pleaded as I turned to glare at her.

"You don't fücking know what this feels like. It's not Heath in there - it's my Scarlett!" I spat venomously as the rest of my family stared at me, eyes opened wide. "So don't stand there and fücking tell me to calm down - got it?"

"That's enough, son," Dad interrupted as Emily sunk back onto the seat beside Elena and my mom, her eyes travelling down the corridor to Heath and Kiera.

"Jasper Queen?" The doctors voice called out as I spun around quickly.

"Well, what?" I snapped angrily. "I'm going to go and see her."

"Mr Queen-"

"Shut the fück up!" I barked as I made my way frantically to the private wing she was being kept in.

I opened the door and saw her lying on the bed, a machine with several wires hooked into her as I felt my face falter.

I heard the sound of fast approaching footsteps as the doctor walked back in.

"She's in a coma, Mr Queen," he told me, moving away slightly. "She lost a lot of blood. So much so, I am surprisedshe survived at all."

"When will she wake up?" I asked quietly.

"It could be days, weeks, months. It is too early to tell."

"Get out." I ordered as he left, closing the door softly behind him.

I walked over to Scarlett's bed, taking her small, fragile hand in mine, holding it tight.

"Baby, I don't know if you can hear me but you need to wake up," I told her, my voice cracking considerably. "I don't know how to do laundry or flip pancakes. I don't know how to work the coffee machine or the microwave. I can't even use the oven properly; remember that day I almost burnt your hair off? God, you looked like you were going to slaughter me," I laughed quietly recalling how angry she was. "I don't know how to function without you. I don't know how to live without you. Please don't make me do that, please come back to me. I know I made you a promise to look after you and I know I failed terribly but, baby, if you wake up for me, I swear to the fücking God's above, no one will ever hurt you again, I promise you, Scarlett. I love you so much, baby. So fücking much."

God, please bring her back to me, I thought, throwing my head back in defeat.

When I get my hands on Marcus Sasz and Lisbeth Cameron, they are going to wish they had been finished off there and then.

I am going to kill them.
