The black velvet box traveled between his left and right hand, his feet bouncing against the cool grass below him.

Stiles was currently standing where he and Zoe had their first date. It wasn't anything fancy, now that he looks back on it. He had set up a simple picnic full of her favourite foods and drinks. It mustn't have been too bad, though, seeing as though she was still with him. Today he was planning to propose, to finally make her his, and he was beyond nervous.

He glanced down at his watch, 12:02.

She was two minutes late.

He knew that the baby sitter had probably turned up late, but he couldn't help but feel as though she wasn't coming. There wasn't any reason for her not to, Stiles realized that, but his nerves were on overdrive right now and every thought he had sounded like it was going to become reality.

"Stiles?"

He spun around, eyes wide and heart pounding when he thought he was going to be met with Zoe. Instead, Lydia stood there, strawberry blonde hair tied back in a pony tail that swung behind her against the wind.

"Uh," He rubbed the back of his neck, anxiously looking around for any sight of Zoe. "Hi."

"What are you doing here?" Lydia asked.

"Waiting for Zoe." He replied, and Lydia raised an eyebrow at him.

"You're still with her? Wow, I didn't think the two of you were going to last this long."

Stiles completely ignored her, still glancing around for his girlfriend. He didn't want her turning up and catching sight of him and Lydia talking. He didn't want to ruin the proposal.

"I know you still love me," Lydia suddenly spoke, and Stiles' eyes snapped to look at her. "Don't pretend you don't still have feelings for me, Stiles. Its obvious you do."

"No," Stiles immediately shot back. "Not anymore. I love Zoe. We've started a family and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with her."

"Don't be ridiculous." The blonde laughed, and took a step closer to Stiles.

Zoe was sat in her car, hands gripping so tightly onto the steering wheel that her knuckles were going white. She watched as Stiles glanced around, obviously nervous, while Lydia kept taking steps toward him.

Stiles was glued to his spot, not moving an inch until it seemed that Lydia was standing right in front of him. One of her hands grasped onto Stiles', her head tilting back as he pushed herself onto her tiptoes and let her head fall closer and closer to Stiles' until Zoe could see their lips touch.

She quickly looked away from the two, already feeling tears sting her eyes as she quickly pulled out of her parking space and drove away. She didn't have to be home for another hour, told the baby sitter she'd be home by one, so she kept driving until she didn't know where she was anymore.

Tears slipped from her eyes as she slammed her hands against the steering wheel, screaming at nothing and no one in particular. She eventually pulled the car over onto the side of the road, officially lost.

She had stopped by a cliff, overlooking the town.

She pulled herself out of the car, moving around to the front of it where she slid down onto the dirt covered floor, her head resting against the front of her car while she looked out over Beacon Hills, wondering if it was all worth sticking around for anymore.

She could easily pack herself and Lily up, getting away from it all before Stiles even realized they were gone. And the more she thought about, the better it sounded.
