Secrets Kept and Secrets Revealed

Months go by and Muriel has gotten more acquainted with his wolf, though it seems he's hiding something from me. Every time I bring up his wolf and what they talk about he blushes and changes the subject. With the new control and him becoming more comfortable with who he is; I've been able to get him to start coming into town again, Inanna is completely comfortable with him and the chickens have stopped shying away. Going into Vesuvia isn't an often occurrence, but I'm grateful for the company.

I awake with the sun's rays on me and turn around to snuggle into the sleeping man next to me. His arms seem to snake their way around me and he hugs me closer. "Hmmm..." Muriel mumbles, content.

Slowly he starts sitting up, much to my disappointment. "Good morning..." he yawns out.

"Good morning...can't we stay here?"

He laughs quietly. "No...we need to do our chores."

I grumble as we both get ready for the day, causing small giggles out of Muriel.

"What are you giggling at?"

He turns around and gives me a bashful smile. "You."

I put my hands on my hips. "And what is so funny?"

"Not funny..." he shrugs. "Just cute..."

"Oh." I blush at his words.

He smiles again before grabbing the chicken food and going outside.

He's been in a good mood. I shake my head and start breakfast. The eggs are soon done and the tea is boiling. I scour the shelves with no luck. We're out of pumpkin bread. The teapot whistles, taking me out of my thoughts. I quickly set the table and sit down waiting for Muriel.

He comes in shortly afterwards. "It smells good."

"Thank you. It's also getting cold."

He sits out and we eat in a comfortable silence.

I break it. "We need to run into town for some food."

"We?"

I play with my fork shyly. "Well...I didn't want to go alone..."

He smiles and rolls his eyes. "Okay, what do we need to get...?"

"...pumpkin bread, most importantly." He raises an eyebrow. "...and I need some more spices. We're running a bit low on wolfsbane and rosemary."

"We should start growing those."

"You don't enjoy stopping by the shop to see Asra?"

"I do."

"Then let's get our stuff together and head out."

He takes the plates over to the sink and grabs his cloak. I grab my coat and a basket.

The morning is still chilly, but the walk is pleasant. Soon we're at Asras shop. Before we go in Muriel takes my hand and pulls me over to give me a quick kiss.

"What was that for?" I giggle.

He shrugs. "Because I love you."

The smile doesn't leave my lips as I open the door.

"MC! Muriel! Hi!" Asra calls from a spot on the floor. He's sitting on some pillow with a book in hand. "It's nice to see you two."

"It's nice to see you too, Asra." He gets up and walks over. "We're in town for supplies. We're running low on wolfsbane."

"Give me a second and I'll have a bag for you."

"Thank you."

As he works he asks, "Is that all you're in town for?"

"No, we also need some pumpkin bread and I wanted to get some more rosemary."

He hands me the bag and I try to give him some coins. "No, you know I don't expect payment for this."

"I know...but it was worth a try." I place the bag in my basket.

"Business is slow today. Would you mind if I joined you?"

I look at Muriel and he shrugs. "Sure...there was something I wanted to talk to you about...alone."

I give Muriel a confused look. What could he want to talk to him about alone?

"We can talk after we get done shopping."

We make small talk on our way to the marketplace. I leave them to quickly buy the rosemary. They seemed to be in an intense conversation, though when I walk over they stop talking. "What are you guys talking about?"

They both blush a bright red and refuse to make eye contact with me. I cross my arms. "Spill it."

Asra takes a deep breath. "Well, you see-" Muriel shoots him a glare and punches his arm hard enough that he starts falling.

Muriel rushes forward and catches him before he hits the ground. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you that hard! Are you okay?"

Asra rebalances himself rubbing his arm, while shooting Muriel a look and mouthing, 'that hurt.' He takes another deep breath and looks at me. "It's nothing you need to worry about."

I try to shrug it off and walk over to the baker.

"MC! Out of pumpkin bread already?"

"Yes...we just need a couple batches." He hurries off to get the bread.

Muriel mumbles about it getting warm and I look to the sky. Oh, it's the afternoon. He takes off his cloak and I put it in the basket, careful Not to crush the wolfsbane.

The baker comes back with a huge smile. "Here is your bre-!" He drops the bread on the ground and his eyes lock on something. I turn to see what hes looking at. Muriels scar? His eyes fill with tears and he takes a few steps back.

"It was you that night?" His shirt has moved, revealing another crescent moon. This one on his neck. "I thought you got away...I didn't mean to get you."

The end(for now)
