Part 4 - Amy and Aaron

Aaron was Adam's brother. That's all I knew about him. They were twins, so they looked exactly alike. Sounded alike, too. But that was as far as their similarities spanned. Adam was a dumb jock; Aaron was an art geek. And at the moment, he was dating Amy Twine.

Amy meanwhile, slid under the radar as your basic nerd. Green glasses and a pink scrunchie, with baggy pants. She was a very odd girl. But she loved Aaron, and Aaron loved her. But the two school geeks dating attracted a lot of unwanted attention. Mostly from bullies.

Emma and I were discussing plans in the library. We had thought of several tricks for sectionals, including a quick throwing move. "So, we throw three girls at the same time, right?" Emma asked. "Well, the girls in the air should be pretty light. So what about Maria, Hailey, and Katlin?" She asked. I nodded in agreement, writing it down.

"Who'll catch them, though?" I asked.

"I can catch Hailey. Obviously Gabby will have to catch one of them, maybe Maria. She's the heaviest of the three." She said.

"Alright. Then I'll catch Katlin." I marked it down, when we heard arguing.

"Hey, leave her alone, man!" We turned around to see Adam's brother, Aaron, facing three football guys; all tall and buff, and all towering over Aaron. He weakly shoved one of them away, prompting the guy to laugh.

"Kiddo, why don't you let your girlfriend fight for you?" One guy jeered, shoving him backwards. Aaron fell into a girl's arms. She had blonde hair and intense eyes, and she looked just as dorky, if not more dorky than Aaron.

"Leave us alone, you jerks! Stop harassing my boyfriend!" She shouted.

I looked around. "Where's a librarian when you need one?" I asked myself.  Emma stood up.

"I can't watch this." She marched around to the group, presenting herself with confidence. I followed close behind, my arms folded angrily.

"E-Emma!" They saw me standing there, too. "Roberta! It-I-"

Emma rolled her eyes. "Leave the guy alone. He hasn't done anything wrong." She said. Aaron looked up at her with admiration in his eyes. The guys quickly shuffled away, as Emma helped Aaron up.

"You okay?" She asked.

"Y-Yeah." He said. "Thanks." I saw him blush. Meanwhile, I was more focused on the girl. I held out my hand for her to shake.

"What's your name?" I asked. She shook my hand shyly.

"I'm Amy. Amy Twine." She said. "You're Roberta, right?"

"That's me. Captain of the cheerleading team!" I said, placing my hands on my hips.

"Really? I've always wanted to do cheerleading, but I don't have that kind of look about me." She said.

"Oh, come on! You're pretty, you're nice! Yeah, you can be a half-decent cheerleader." I said, mostly to myself, but out loud a little. Emma shot me a confused glare.

"Wait, like, this season?" Emma asked.

"Why not? I'm sure that Amy here has got potential!" I said. I looked at Emma. She looked upset about something. "What's wrong?"

"You said that I had potential, too." She mumbled.

"Aw, come on, Emma. No one can replace you. You're my protegee! And a good one at that. Speaking of which, can you polish the plans? I'm going to this girl cleaned up." I said, wrapping my arm around Amy's shoulder.

"She looks fine to me." Emma said under her breath.

"Well, physically, yes. But if you really want to change who you are, you've got to change the way you look, first."
