You would have thought that after a childhood of your mother nagging at you to douse your fair skin in layers of sun cream that you would actually remember to do it when you got older... but no. Here you were, lying on the beach, on the hottest day of the year in just a bikini, looking like a tomato. The umbrella that you had bought to the beach was doing absolutely nothing to bring you shade.

Watching as your boyfriend swam around in the ocean, you kept trying to stand up to walk and join him, but it was simply too painful so whenever he signalled for you to join him in the water, you shook your head pretending to be invested in whatever book you were reading. You were so desperate to sooth your body in the cool blue ocean waters, but you were in too much pain to move towards it.

After a while, he emerged from the ocean, a true Baywatch moment, and walked his way over to you, his eyes widening as he moved closer to you.

"Don't say anyth..." before you could say anything he burst into laughter. You frowned at him, wincing as you crossed your arms. You could hear him struggling to apologise as he continued to laugh at you and you must admit, you were struggling to hold in your own laughter.

"I'm sorry darling but wow.." You couldn't stop the laughter at this point... but your pain could. As your shoulders started to move up and down as your laughed, you were in so much pain that your eyes started to water, and the smile soon dropped from your face.

"Woah darling, I was only joking!" He rushed over to you, wrapping his arms around him.

"Ow Pea! Don't!" He looked at you with a worried expression, before removing himself from around you. "Sorry, it just hurts real bad". His eyes furrowed in sympathy as he leant over to adjust the umbrella to bring more shade to your body. When he was satisfied, he dug his way through your bag, pulling out a bottle of after sun.

"Roll over sweetie". As slowly as possible in an attempt to bring yourself as little pain as you could, you rolled your body over so that you were now lying on your stomach. "This is going to hurt but it will sooth you later on".

He squirted some of the lotion onto his hand, gently rubbing it all over your skin. You winced slightly at the pain but relaxed as the coldness of the cream was coated onto your skin. He softly massaged it over your arms and legs before rolling you back over to cover your stomach with it as well. He helped you to put your bikini cover-up on as well as your sandals before packing away your cozy little set up on the beach. His arm held very carefully onto your waist as he walked you over to his truck, thank god you didn't come on his motorbike, you hated to imagine the discomfort that you would feel sat on the back of that for an hour.

You drove home as the sun was setting, his hand rested on your thigh, your own was intertwined with it.

When you got home he ran you a soothing cold bath, not freezing but nowhere near hot. You heard the water running so made your way slowly into the bathroom to find him rummaging through the cupboards.

"I read online that aloe vera sooths sunburn so I'm seeing if we have anything with it in". You smiled as you watched him continue a search, hearing a little 'ooh' escape his lips as he pulled out a bottle of bubble bath before pouring it into the bath, swirling the water around with his hand, watching as the mass of bubbles began to form.

He undressed you before helping you climb in, cupping water in his hands and releasing it over your body, letting it flow smoothly down your skin. You relaxed in the bath for a while, until the water became a little too cold for comfort. He kissed your forehead before lifting you up out of the bath, wrapping a fresh towel around your body, walking you to your bedroom as you lay down naked under the thin sheets. He undressed himself, leaving just his boxers on, before walking around the bed to get in behind you.

"The pain will be gone in the morning my love. Sleep it off"

"I love you Pea"

"I love you too" He ruffled your hair before moving closer to you, nuzzling his head into your neck.
