tip fourteen; surroundings

it makes a real difference if you have a neater room; i personally find that brighter and cleaner rooms or areas, are better learning environments in comparison to a darker and messy one.

what would you say neat is though? for me neatness would be effected by; the colour of the room, the amount of natural or artificial lighting, the size of the room, the organisation of books and general hygiene.

that's a bit too much, so let's simplify that down, bit by bit.

the colour of the room;

i find that white or paler painted rooms make it a better learning environment. some studies have said that white or monotone coloured walls are not so good on the long run but that's not the case for me. of course, everyone is different and you might do better in a neon yellow or red room, just try it out.

the amount of lighting;

led bulbs have been proven to reduce anxiety and stress and can improve your mood too. alternatively, you could use a desk lamp or just use sunlight as your light source; reduces your electricity bill and won't overheat any bulbs.

     more about led ;

—>  led bulbs are very eco-friendly and energy efficient. this means that the amount of greenhouse gases produced because of electricity is reduced; your overall carbon footprint will also decrease. these bulbs last much longer, are brighter and won't strain your eyes as much as incandescent or fluorescent bulbs do.

the size of the room;

i don't have a massive room, i barely have a room i can call my own because i share with my sister but i have used a spare room for my basic needs such as sleeping and studying.

you don't need to have a study room or a room as big as the queen's bathroom, anywhere that considers the above is fine. i never study on the bed because, quoted by my mum — "beds are for sleeping in, bathrooms are to do your thing, entertainment and study should be done downstairs or on the floor."

organisation and hygiene;

organisation and hygiene will be talked about in the later chapters as this is already very long !
