Irene

Irene was born Bae Joo-hyun (배주현) on March 29, 1991 in Daegu, South Korea.Before debuting with Red Velvet, she appeared in the music video for Henry Lau's "1-4-3 (I Love You)", released in August 2013. In November 2014, she appeared in in the music video for Cho Kyuhyun's "At Gwanghwamun".

Seulgi

Kang Seul-gi (강슬기) was born February 10, 1994 in Ansan, Seoul, South Korea. Before debuting with Red Velvet, she appeared in the music video for Henry Lau's "Fantastic", from his album Fantastic. She was also featured on the song "Butterfly", from the same album. In January 2015, she starred in the musicalSchool Oz, playing the lead role of Dorothy.

Wendy

Wendy was born Son Seung-wan (손승완) on February 21, 1994 in Seongbuk-dong, Seoul, South Korea. Her family lived in Jecheon before Wendy moved toCanada in her fifth year of elementary school to study abroad and started using her English name, Wendy Shon. Her parents moved to Canada two years later.In middle school, Wendy attended Shattuck-Saint Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota in the United States. She was an honor student, and earned various awards for academics and music-related activities during her stay there. She was also active in theatre, choir and sports, being a member of the girls golf team.She later studied at Richmond Hill High School in Ontario, where she became a member of the school choir.Wendy has stated that her passion for music comes from her parents who are both music lovers.Besides her talent in singing, she is also able to play different instruments such as the piano, guitar, flute andsaxophone.

In 2010, she auditioned for the "Koreaboo: Cube Entertainment Global Auditions 2011" with an online audition and was picked from over 5,000 videos by Koreaboo and Cube Entertainment to continue to the final round in Vancouver, Canada. G.NA personally picked the 15 finalists with Koreaboo to open for her first solo showcase, held in Vancouver, Canada. In 2012, she was cast by S.M. Entertainment after auditioning at the S.M Global Audition in Canada. On March 14, 2014, Wendy released the song "Because I Love You", which is part of the soundtrack of the Mnet drama, Mimi which her label mate, TVXQ's Changmin, stars in. She also appeared in the song's music video.

Joy

Joy was born Park Soo-young (박수영) on September 3, 1996 in Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2015.

Yeri

Yeri was born Kim Ye-rim (김예림) on March 5, 1999 in Seoul, South Korea. She was cast by SM Entertainment in 2011, and was introduced as a new member to the group on March 10, 2015.
