Chapter six

As Jace woke up, he felt someone holding his hand. The hand was cold. Jace was tired. His head hurt. A thin layer of blood covered his forehead. It already dried down. Jace couldn't really remember what happened. Then he heard a whisper:" Jace, are you awake?" It was Alec's voice, although it sounded rougher than usually. "Yeah.", Jace said. Then he looked down to the floor. Alec was lying on the floor, holding Jace's hand. He looked tired and worried. As Alec felt Jace moving he stood up. "How long was I gone?", Jace asked. "Almost three days.", Alec said. Jace looked confused:" What happened?", he asked. Alec wasn't sure what to answer. He was afraid Jace would hurt himself again if he'd remember, but he still chose to tell the truth: "After the funeral...", Jace interrupted him:" I remember. I banged my head against the wall, I think." Alec nodded. "What were you doing next to my bed?", Jace asked. "I was worried. And I felt guilty. I wasn't quite sure what it was, and I thought, you could, ugh... die.", he said. "You held my hand the past three days? All the time?" "Yeah. That's what Parabatai do. If you would have died, I would have been next to you, holding you hand." Jace hugged him. He felt Alec's big hands on his back, his head on his shoulder, his black hair in his face. It was familiar. And Jace felt good. Then, Alec got back:" Can you now tell me what's happening with you?", his look full of concerned. Then, suddenly Jace felt the need to tell someone. To tell Alec everything. He told him about the weakness, about the dreams, about the Images, the blood, the voices, about the sickness and the sadness. About how he felt Clary wanted to tell him something. "Alec, I think there's something terribly wrong with me.", he finished. Then he started to cry. He cried and cried, until there were no more tears left. It was a great to finally not hide anything from Alec. The boys talked until Alec got to his room to get ready. Jace still had a headache, but he decided to throw some punches at the gym. He thought he could free his mind. Then, Clary appeared. The wasn't doing anything, just being there and staring at him. He stopped punching. It felt wrong, as if he was punching Clary in the face. Then, Alec joined him, and Clary disappeared. They fought together. It's been a log time since they did that the last time. Afterwards, Alec went back to the office. He had some stuff to do. Clary was still gone. Jace threw some kicks and punches, did some regular workout too. He spent the whole day at the gym, he was exhausted, so he laid down in his bed. Suddenly, Clary appeared again. She started to mutilate herself. Jace jumped out of his bed. He couldn't stand it anymore. Jace left a message for Alec which said he'll be outside of the institute. Also, he promised he was not going to drink anything. Then, Jace left. The air was cold and refreshing. He walked down to the park next to the institute. Then suddenly he saw something moving towards him. Jace took his seraph blade- it was a demon. The demon ran directly in Jace's direction. Clary appeared, she was still mutilating herself. And she Screamed at him. Jae wasn't able to understand her, because he heard another, dark slimy voice saying "Clary." All the time. It was the demon. Every time the demon repeated her name, Jace headache increased and Clary's voice got louder. His hands began to shake, he couldn't quite hold the blade anymore. He felt sick, but he tried to escape. Jace threw a knife at the demon. He misses because the tremor in his hands increased. He tried to run away, but he knew he had no chance, he was too weak, the demon too fast. Suddenly, a purple lightning shot through the demon's body. It slapped onto the ground and disappeared. Two meters behind the remaining's of the demon stood Magnus. "Are you okay?", he asked. "I'm fine.", Jace said, "Thank you." It was a lie. He still saw clary, she cried and his head still hurt. Magnus accompanied Jace back to the Institute. Jace decided to head back to the gym. He was sure the image of Clary will intensify if he was trying to sleep.

Magnus knocked at Alec's door. "Come in.", Alec said from the inside. "Oh, it's you. What are you doing here?", he asked. "Nothing special. See how you're doing." "I'm fine. But I need to talk about Jace with you." "Me to.", said Magnus. Alec looked confused:" Anyways, At the funeral, he had kind of a breakdown, so afterwards I asked him what was wrong. He started to tell me, but out of nowhere he stood up and banged his elbow against the wall, then his head. I couldn't really do anything abut it. Today he woke up and told me what the problem was: He is seeing Images of Clary, Clary sometimes is mutilating herself, sometimes screaming at him, sometimes she's just there. It drives him crazy." "That's not shocking to me. I just met him outside, not being able to fight a demon. It's the demon who plays with your fears, I forgot his name. Jace was shaking, I needed to kill the demon." "Where did he go?", Alec asked. "Into the Gym, I think. But I wouldn't follow him. Give him some time for himself." Alec nodded:" So, how have you been doing so far?", he asked. "All right. Nothing special. Missing you." "I missed you too.", Alec said, pulled magnus towards him and kissed him.
