Month 9

(Week 33 - 36)

"BABY SHARK DO DO DO DO DO. BABY SHARK DO DO DO DO DO. BABY SHARK."

Harumi groaned into her pillow and covered her head with the blanket. "Make it stoooop."

"I can't, Lumi's been crying for hours and we didn't know what to do anymore." Lloyd yawned from beside her, the events of last night quickly flashing through his mind.

"What do I do?" Cole panicked, Lumi was throwing a tantrum and no one could figure out what she wanted.

"I know!" Jay fumbled for the remote of the television and immediately scrolled through the online videos. "I heard this could put a stop to her crying."

A catchy tune started playing on the TV, catching Lumi's attention, before a song began.

"It's been playing for HOURS. Isn't there a different song she can listen to?"

"Nothing that she's interested in."

Harumi sighed. This was her life now.

When she entered the living room, she found Cole, Kai, and Jay dancing to the song with Lumi in the middle of everything.

"BABY SHARK DO DO DO DO DO. BABY SHARK DO DO DO DO DO. BABY SHARK." They sang along, rocking from side to side as they did, making Harumi wonder whether they had turned crazy.

She found Pixal in the kitchen, a pair of headphones over her ears, preparing their breakfast for the day.

"Hey, Pix!" She greeted but got no response. "Pixal?" The nindroid remained quiet and focused on the rice she was preparing. Harumi approached her and lifted one side of the headphones.

"Oh, good morning, Harumi." She smiled after her attention was caught. "I did not see you."

Harumi crossed her arms. "You didn't hear me either."

"Sorry. The sound was getting to my nerve circuits so I invented a pair of noise-canceling headphones."

"It seems like the ninja have grown fond of it though." She leaned back just enough to see the ninja dancing in front of the TV with Lumi giggling in Jay's arms.

With Lumi's recent growth spurt and the restaurant getting busier by the day–mostly filled with news reporters who thought they got a lead on where to interview the mother of Lumi–Harumi had to wear disguises.

"What are you supposed to be?" Skylor placed a hand on her hip, taking a good look at Harumi's recent outfit.

The girl looked herself up and down. "I am a local from Jamanakai Village, ma'am. No Harumi here." She used an accent as she spoke which made Skylor visibly cringe.

"You're kidding right?" She burst out laughing, tinting Harumi's cheeks red. "There are no accents in Ninjago."

"Well how was I supposed to know that?!"

"Um, you're a princess?"

The door opened to reveal another set of customers walking in, Harumi sighed and hid her hair in her cap. White blonde was definitely too revealing.

"This conversation is not over." She huffed at Skylor and walked away.

Things for Lloyd's shoot were not going easy as well. With the journalists waiting outside the warehouse every hour, it was hard for anyone to focus with the clamoring.

"Mr. Garmadon, a moment please!"

"I'd like a word with the Green ninja."

"Lloyd! Care to answer a couple questions?"

The green ninja sighed and shut the door to his dressing room.

"Why did you publish that magazine, Darreth?" His frustration with the self-proclaimed Brown Ninja was clear in his voice.

Darreth had to admit he was shaking with fear, but he couldn't show that at a time like this. "I told you, publicity."

"We didn't need more publicity."

Lloyd grabbed his duffle bag and scrounged up a disguise from the rows of costumes.

"Where are you going?"

"Home."

Lumi turned around from her spot on the floor to find both her parents home earlier than she expected, not that she was complaining, and immediately made her way over to them.

"What happened to her hair?" Harumi asked, picking her up and poking at the strands of white blonde hair that were sticking out from the top of her head.

"Ready for a test drive, Lumi?" Pixal asked, securing the baby in the car seat as she started the engine. With Lloyd and Harumi away from the monastery, she took advantage of the opportunity given by her babysitting privileges.

"Bah!" Lumi exclaimed, biting on her ninja star teether.

Zane clicked his seat belt beside her, fixing his position as he kept his eyes on the road. "Perhaps we should keep the roof down?"

"What could go wrong?"

Pixal gulped, ignoring Zane's 'I told you so' look at her, and immediately fumbled for an excuse. "Um, we were playing with cars." It wasn't exactly a lie but she didn't want to go into the details. "Zane styled her hair."

The couple looked at Zane who wore a grin on his face. "I have been doing some research that people who drive fast often have their hair standing up."

"Okaayy.." Lloyd trailed off and ruffled his daughter's hair. "I'm going to go clean up. We'll play later, sweetie."

"Dada!"

Pixal sighed in relief and engulfed Zane in a hug. The nindroid chuckled in response and wrapped his arms around her.

"You were saying?"

"Fine. You were right."

"Of course I was."

Lloyd and Harumi were surprised to wake up to an empty monastery one day, their daughter and the ninja gone, only a note left on top of the kitchen table.

Went to the city, brought Lumi with us.

xoxo, Kai

Harumi picked it up, studying its contents. "What are they doing in the city?" Her mind scanned at all the possible things the ninja could be up to but she knew not to worry.

"We have the whole monastery to ourselves!" Lloyd celebrated from the living room, there were no annoying baby songs to irritate him so early in the morning now.

Harumi perked up at the mention, walking over to join him, and laid on the couch. "You know," She said, her voice suggesting. "No one is here...what do we say we head over to our room and..." she clicked her tongue and smirked at him.

Lloyd had picked up on what she wanted and sat down beside her. "How about we do it right here?" He returned her smile and winked.

"I like the way you're thinking, Greenie."

They both laid on the couch, Lloyd opened his arms so Harumi could rest on his chest. With their figures close together, it was easy to fit into the small seat. Within a few minutes, the couple immediately fell asleep.

It was around past noon when they woke up to a still very empty and quiet monastery. Lloyd got up from the couch to rub his eyes and stretch, only to find Harumi gone from beside him. With a pout, he searched every single room in the monastery only to find her preparing lunch in the kitchen.

She slid a plate over to him as he took a seat at the table. "Eat up, Greenie. We have a whole day of freedom ahead of us."

"I wouldn't call it freedom."

"What would you call it then?"

Lloyd thought for a moment, and he thought hard. He didn't want to say that having Lumi felt like he was trapped but he had to admit she was right. Eventually, he couldn't come up with anything and sighed, giving in.

"Alright, alright. It is freedom."

For the rest of the day, Lloyd had insisted on catching up on his favorite shows and movies–leading to three whole hours spent on the couch, watching a marathon.

"I don't understand how a man can do that in space." Harumi voiced out her thoughts, using her ice cream spoon to point at the screen.

From beside her, Lloyd had a distinguishable offended look on his face, stuffing more chips into his mouth as he gawked at her.

"You have a lot to learn."

Harumi could never understand why Lloyd loved the movie so much but she did enjoy spending time doing something he loved. When she had enough, she left him to his own antics in the living room to clean up.

"What's that on your face?" Lloyd asked, watching her walk into the room with only a bathrobe and a mud mask on her face.

Harumi touched the sides of her face. "It's relaxing."

Lloyd found himself sitting on top of the kitchen counter, his legs swinging at the edge, dressed in a bathrobe while Harumi placed a mud mask on his face.

"Huh." He let out at his realization. "It is relaxing."

"I told you!"

Down in Ninjago City, the ninja could be located in a corner of one of the many places around central. With their loud talking and the ruckus they created, it was not hard for anyone to know of their presence.

"What is taking you so long?!"

"I'm sorry, you try to make a soap and water solution without having the baby giggle at you every second!"

"No one told you to blow the bubbles to her!"

"What was I supposed to do?"

"You two quit it before I make a soap and water solution out of both of you!" Nya placed an end to the conversation, pushing Lumi's stroller away from the boys. "How's it going Pixal?"

"We are ready for business!" She exclaimed a little too enthusiastically. "Sorry, my program cannot contain my excitement. How are the boys doing with their set up?"

Nya glanced at the ninja to find Cole and Jay arguing once again. "They'll get there eventually."

With the couple having to hide from the press and the paparazzi, the ninja decided to take matters into their own hands to help them raise money for Lumi. And what better way than starting a business in the middle of Ninjago City?

The boys had managed to start their own car wash station–which Nya doubted was ever going to be set up with their constant arguing–while the girls decided to place their culinary skills to the test and sell some baked goods.

It wasn't a competition. But Nya thought it was fun to think of it like one.

"Alright, Lumi. You will sit here and act adorable." She pushed the stroller to the front of the pink and purple stall that the girls had managed to set up.

"Mama?" Lumi asked, looking up to meet the ocean blue eyes of her aunt.

"Your mommy is back at the monastery, Lu. You're stuck with us for today."

Lumi's lips formed a pout and Nya realized she may have said the wrong words.

She moved to the front of the stroller and bent down to match Lumi's height. "Oh, no no no, please don't cry." She pleaded as the tears began to fill the baby's eyes.

"Here, try this." Pixel held out a cookie in front of Nya which made the girl look up at her, eyebrows furrowed.

"A cookie? How would that help–"

Lumi giggled. "Coo!" She reached her hands out to grab the treat from Nya's hands before biting down on it with her baby teeth.

"Okaaay then." Nya nodded and left to do her own tasks.

It didn't take long for a line to start in front of their stand, Lumi had a knack for attracting customers–or maybe because she was just an adorable baby.

"Hey! It's not fair, we need business too." Kai protested, stomping over to take Lumi's stroller to their side of the area.

Nya shrugged, she was too busy handing out the paper bag of treats. "Just bring her back in half an hour!"

Lumi cooed at the sight of her uncles and soon enough, there were cars lining up in front of them. She watched as Kai used his powers to melt the ice that Zane placed over the car, using it as a quick rinse method, while her Uncle Jay and Cole slowly got covered by soap.

"Bu!" Lumi exclaimed at the sight of the bubbles.

Jay rushed over to her and blew a few in front of her stroller. The action made Lumi giggle, a sound that could be heard from a mile away.

"Jay! These cars aren't going to clean themselves!"

Half an hour later, Pixal was marching over the makeshift car wash to get Lumi, her face covered with confectioners sugar from all the desserts she'd been handing to their customers.

After a quick look, and a check from her scanners, she found no traces of the stroller anywhere. "Where is the baby?" She asked, hands on her hips.

All four boys turned to her at once.

"I thought Zane had her?" Guessed Kai.

"I can confirm that Jay was the last person to watch over Lumi." Defended the nindroid.

"She isn't with me!" Jay raised his hands up. "I've been with Cole for the past half hour."

Cole's head popped up from behind the car. "Then where is she?!"

Nya walked over, it had taken Pixal way too long to bring back the baby that she was starting to grow worried. "What's going on?"

"Lumi's gone!"

"What do you mean she's gone?"

"Like, gone, gone!"

Nya's eyes wandered the place and that was when she realized that her boyfriend was telling the truth. Her heart started racing, she did have a right to be worried.

But it seems like she wasn't the only one who fell in a state of panic.

"How could you lose her?!"

"Me?! We were busy!"

"So were we!"

"There are four of you watching her, how did you not notice she was gone?"

"Oh no! What are we going to tell Lloyd and Harumi?!"

Everyone began to scream. It was one thing to lose their niece but telling her parents was another, especially if you didn't want either parent to be angered.

Nya took deep breaths through her nose. "Okay, okay. Calm down, we can assess the situation."

"What do you mean assess? Lumi is gone and Lloyd and Harumi are going to kill us!" Cole practically shouted, his hands waving in the air as he spoke.

"Yep." Kai nodded, already accepting his fate. "This is how I go down."

"No one is going to die!" Pixal affirmed and crossed her arms. She couldn't believe how ridiculous they were being.

Jay grabbed her shoulders, not bothering to wipe his wet, soapy hands first. "Have you seen Lloyd mad?" He looked her in the eye with complete disbelief at how calm she was.

"Or Harumi?! The last time she was mad, she took over the whole city!" Cole recalled, already pulling at the ends of his hair.

"I'd like an open casket at my funeral." Kai stated. "This world deserves to see this face one last time."

Jay scoffed. "What makes you think Lloyd and Harumi would spare your face?"

"Enough! This is not helping." Nya cut in. "No one is going to plan anyone's funeral." She took a deep breath, calming herself. "I'm sure Lloyd and Harumi wouldn't kill us if we just explained what happened."

The boys took this in for a moment. The silence lasted 5 seconds before another wave of panic and screaming rushed in.

"Who's going to tell them?!"

"Do we have to tell them?"

"Of course we have to, Cole! This is their child we're talking about."

"We'll draw straws, loser has to call Lloyd."

"Hello? Lloyd?" Zane started, making everyone jump on him and get the phone away from his hands. Kai pressed the 'end call' button and tossed it far away from them.

"Are you out of your mind?! We don't call them right away!" Jay scolded.

Zane raised a brow. "But I thought the plan was to tell them what happened?"

"Yeah! But not now!"

"We'll do it gradually." Kai explained. "Like, make them realize their child is gone."

"Of course they would realize she's gone! You can't just walk in the monastery with an empty stroller." Cole protested but his words managed to trigger an idea inside the Master of Fire's head.

A smirk appeared on his face. "Or can you? Maybe we could place something else inside."

"What are you talking about? We cannot just get another baby!" Zane crossed his arms. "Lloyd and Harumi would know if the baby is theirs or not."

"Zane is correct." Pixal nodded. "So where are you going to find one?"

"What is going on here?"

A voice entered the conversation and everyone turned around to find Master Wu and Misako walking towards them.

Jay volunteered to explain. "We were too busy doing our jobs that we didn't realize Lumi went missing and then we all started screaming and yelling at each other, it was a whole thing really, and then we started arguing on who was going to tell Lloyd and–" He stopped himself once his eyes caught sight of a familiar figure dressed in green.

"Lumi!" Everyone exclaimed and ran over to take her from Master Wu's arms. The child giggled, happy to be in the presence of her aunts and uncles again.

"We thought we lost you!"

"To be fair, Kai lost you."

"I thought we agreed it was Jay!"

"Hey!"

Zane approached Master Wu while everyone was too busy coddling the baby. "Have you had her this whole time?"

Master Wu looked proud of himself, stroking his beard as he spoke in a calm tune. "Indeed we did. Misako spotted her unattended and I thought it would be a valuable lesson to teach you all some responsibility."

However, the ninja had other feelings.

"You did what?!"

Long story short, Master Wu got the short end of the straw that night.
