Chapter 23

Moments after, we called Toby telling him to come over with the files. While Spencer and I were waiting, we cleaned up my room just in case Mom saw it. We fixed the chair and the desk. We piled all the papers on the floor into one huge pile. Then we carefully picked up all of the glass that was scattered across my carpet. My room seemed acceptable after picking up all the glass. All that was left were my clothes in different locations around the room and that my bed wasn't done. I shrugged those off and I went downstairs.

As I was lighting up the fire place, Toby came into the house with the files in his hands. He entered and gave a quick kiss to Spence.

"Hey, I have the files. Where do you think we can hide them?" He asked Spencer and I. Spencer thought for a moment, and so did I. Then I did the quick action of grabbing the files from Toby's hands and tossing them in the fire.

"What the hell are you freaking doing?!?!" Spencer yelled and Toby stayed in a confused/shocked kind of look.

"A wanted those files just so we wouldn't report to the police that my parents death was a murder instead of an accident." I say.

"You weren't going to tell the police?!" Spencer crossed her arms.

"I wasn't planning on it. I don't want them to re-open the case saying this car 'accident' was actually a murder. Plus, we already have enough of them around us with Ali's 'kidnapping' story."

"We could have found out who A was with this!!" She yeled.

"No you wouldn't have because-"

"Because what?!"

"Mrs.DiLaurentis did it!!!!!" I yell over Spencer. "You didn't read everything. Only Mike and I know Mrs. DiLaurentis killed my parents."

All got quiet. "I only kept those files to have some sort of keepsake from my parents. I have nothing from them..nothing. These files were something."

"Then why would A want them?" Toby asked.

"To probably do that." I point to the fire. "To take away something that I love...again."

I sighed. "I'm going to bed."

"How can you sleep while all of this is going on?" Spencer partly yelled.

"When you are tired, you sleep..that's how." I went upstairs and into my still messy room. I went and peeled off my dress to put on PJs. Once I did, I went straight to bed.

.

Yes! Finally! It was Saturday! This was the day when you sleep in, and then do whatever you want and be stress free, but for me.. not today. Since I have been missing so much gym class, my gym teacher is making me come in to school(pretty early) to make up for lost time, which was assigning gym lockers for the freshmen next year.

I was slightly bent over because I was writing down numbers on a clipboard on the desk in the boys locker room.I was really focused on my work, until I saw a shadow fly by the corner of my eye. I just lifted my head and looked around. No one was there. I lowered my head back down and went back to work. Then there was a small crash. This time, I stood straight. I scanned the room with my eyes and still saw nothing. I put down the pen I had in my hand and put it down. I went towards the sound of the clash, but again, no one was there. I was about to walk back to what I was doing before, but a hand grabbed me and covered my mouth, making my screams become muffled. I shut my eyes tightly and was then pinned against the wall of the boys locker room.

I opened my eyes felt my wrists being held against the cold hard wall.

"What do you want Noel?" I growl at him.

"Where is it?" He snarled.

"Where is what?" I ask trying to get him to release me from his tight grasp.

"You know what."

I thought for a second. Then I smirked. "Oh you mean your little insurance? That thing you are going to use if Alison ever throws you out?"

"Yes that." He said letting go of my wrists. "Where is it?"

"I don't know." I simply say.

"Of course you know!" He yelled coming towards me causing me to hit the wall again.

"I'm not telling you Noel." I spit back. Yet honestly, I had no idea where his 'insurance' was.

"Then I'm just going to have to trash your room again aren't I?"

I squinted my eyes slightly and tilted my head. "Wait, you trashed my room???"

"Of course I did. Who else would it be?" He chuckled evily.

I thought in my head. Well A would. But then why did A make me believe that he/she was after the file about my parents death? Then I realized I burned that for no freaking reason!!

"Kendall, I'm going to ask you one more time." This time, Noel's nose was almost touching mine. "Where is it?"

I slightly opened my mouth to say something, until the door opened. Noel and I looked to our right and saw Mike who's eyes were filled with anger.

"Noel, get out!" Mike yelled at him. Noel moved away from me and went to Mike,

"Or what Montgomery?" He asked. Mike then hit Noel right at his nose. While that was happening, I was standing there in shock. I didn't know what to do. It was like I was paralyzed.

Noel turned and looked at me. His nose was covered in blood, yet he still smiled.

"We will continue this later." And he left the locker room slamming the door.

Mike looked over at the door, and then at me. I was still shaken up from what just happened.

"Are you okay?" He asked running up to me. I hugged him as soon as he was close enough.

"I'm fine, the real question is are you okay?" I ask looking at his hand.

"I'll be fine."

"Are you sure?" I ask again in worry.

"Yes kendall." Mike laughed lighty. Then his laugh faded. "I'm so sorry I didn't come over last night like I said I would-"

I stopped him from continuing. "Mike, your family is going through a lot. And so was I at the moment. So it's okay."

"Okay," he said caressing his hand on my cheek.

"How did you know I was here?" I ask after we sat on a bench near the lockers.

"You told me." He laughed. "Remember you texted me this morning?"

"Oh yea. I forgot." He started laughing and I laughed along.

"Well I wanted to surprise you and was hoping that were done so I can take you out for lunch?"

"I would love that. Can you give me ten minutes? Just have to finish the rest of the work I was assigned."

"Of course," and he kissed my lips softly. I slightly blushed and went to finish up the rest of my work.

Once I finished all my work, Mike took me to a cute little restaurant to eat lunch. We ate outside in the beautiful sunny weather. We were smiling and laughed and just having fun on this little date.

"By the way, what did Noel want?"

I didn't want to tell Mike about the whole Noel story, so I lied...like I always do.

"Honestly, I have no idea. We just asked 'where is it' the whole time. Yet I had no idea what 'it' was."

Mike nodded.

"Thank you. For I guess helping me..saving me." I tell him.

He took my hand from across the table, "Anytime."

The sun was then blocked from us. I looked at the person standing in front of us.

"Aw, this is so cute." Lieutenant Tanner said to us.

I saw Mike smile shyly.

"Oh I'm sorry am I interrupting?" She asked.

"No of course not." I say sweetly, even though she really was. "Can we help you with something?"

"Yes, actually. Kendall, we need you to come down to the police station to ask you some questions."

"Um, you can't do that without my parents. I'm still a minor." I say. I really didn't want to go to the police station to answer questions. What did I do?

"Oh don't worry. We called your mother ahead and she gave her approval, but she said you were out at the school. We look but you weren't there. We were driving back from there and spotted you here. Anyways, she is meeting us at the station."

I sat there speechless. I didn't know what to say.

"So will you come to the station? It's only to answer questions."

I looked over at Mike who was as equally confused as I was. "Sure, I guess."

We got to the Police Station. They told Mike he wasn't necessary, but he refused to leave me, especially here.

I was put in a room that was lit by only a lightbulb. I sat on a chair and put my hands on the wooden table in front of me. Detective Holbrook came into the room with a notepad in his hand.

"Kendall, good to see you out of the hospital." He said shanking my hand. He was talking about the time he questioned me when I got shot.

"Yea." I say nervously.

"Nervous? Don't be. Just a few simple questions we have to ask you," he sat down on the other side of the table.

"Okay." I say.

"We are trying to find out more about this kidnapping story about Alison. We mostly asked your sister and her friends about it, but then we found that you are connected in this too. Did you also help Alison get away from this kidnapper?"

I tried to think. Do I follow the story Alison gave me?

"Yes." I respond.

"Can you tell me exactly what happened and how you were a part of it?"

I told Holbrook everything about the kidnapping story. From how Ali was blind folded, and hep the girls 'helped' her escape this terrible kidnapper.

"You told us how this happened. Tell me how you were apart of it." Holbrook said.

I breathed in deeply. How did I?

"Spencer told me, that Alison needed help. She told me everything about a month after I came from California. About Ali being kidnapped." I lied.

"Okay, I guess that is all we need. Thank you Kendall." Holbrook said. He stood and left the room, like I did seconds after.

I walked out of the room and saw Mike standing up. "What was that about?"

"I don't know. They just wanted to know if I was involved in Ali's kidnapping." I whisper.

"Kendall." I heard my name being called by my mom. "Time to go home,"

"Yea, I'll meet you in the car." I say to her. She nodded and left the building.

"Can I call you later?" I ask to Mike.

"I don't see why not." He smiled.

"Okay. Bye." I give him a quick kiss and then leave back to my house with my mom.

My mom parked near the entrance of the driveway.

"Your not coming in?" I ask.

"No, I have to go to the market, then to the office to pick up some papers. But Spencer should be home."

"Okay." I smile softly. Ever since I found out about Mom and Dad separating, Mom and I's relationship has gotten worse. We never talk anymore now. The conversation we just had is how much we talk maybe every other day. It's not only because I am avoiding her, but I don't feel very comfortable around her anymore like I used to.

I opened the door to the house and looked around.

"Spence?" I called. I saw her car in the driveway when I came in.

"Spencer!?" I call again. No answer. I walk upstairs and see her door closed. I tip-toe towards it and slightly open it. Her room was dark, but I could still see her knelt down on the floor with her computer. She was crying.

"Spence." I say running to her. I put a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"

She sniffled. "I need to show you something." She turned her computer towards me. She was about to show me a video of..Melissa?

It started. "Spencer, you're right. I have to tell you the truth before it's too late..."

A/N: OMG... Fatal finale..in less than 24hrs..brb...let me just go freak out...
