Execution

Third person pov (TW:Character death but not really)

The votes were in, and both of the participants chose hope.

Shuichi held his lover in his arms.

"S-Shuichi?"

"Yes, dear?"

"I...I'm s-scared...I...don't w-want to d-die..." Kokichi muttered, the reality of his situation hitting him right in the chest. It was a dull, empty pain. The pain of realizing that he wasn't going to survive. The pain of knowing that he wouldn't alive to make more memories with Shuichi. It was like a deep, dark bruise in the middle of his chest. One that made him start to cry.

"...B-Baby..."

"I know...I sighed up f-for this, but...I... I w-want to make m-more memories with you!" The shivering boy remembered Shuichi's bright, smiling face, his warm hands holding him tightly. "I-I-I want...I want to s-smile with you more...I w-want to be happy with y-you...I...I'm so scared... I love you, S-Shuichi...I...I d-don't want to lose you! I don't want to go! I...I don't want i-it to end...You...you made life worth l-living...I d-don't want to die! Not yet!"

"..." Shuichi felt himself tear up. Something about Kokichi breaking down made him want to scream. "...I-It's gonna be okay, love...It's all gonna be okay." His voice started to crack. "It'll be...l-like falling asleep...and...a-and when we wake up, we'll make more memories, okay?"

Kokichi looked up at him, tears falling. "...p-promise?"

"I...I promise...w-when we wake up...we're gonna have s-so much fun...okay? We're never gonna get hurt, ever again..."

"B-But...what if...w-what if we don't wake up? What i-if we do, but w-we won't be a-able to feel anything..."

"...I promise, dear...it's going to be exactly like I said, okay? Can you trust me?"

Kokichi stared at him, wiping his tears. "Shuichi...I-I trust you..."

"Okay. O-Okay." Shuichi breathed deeply. "I love you, so, so much..."

"I-I love you too, Shuichi."

They both held hope as they walked to their death.

Missed Opportunity For The Fans! Shuichi Saihara and Kokichi Oma Execution: Executed!

~

Shuichi found himself in a room full of Monokuma glass figurines. He stood up, and saw a door. There was a large, careful arrangement of figurines with a key on top. That must unlock the door.

He looked behind him, and discovered that the wall behind him was closing in. Shit.

~

Kokichi looked around. He was in a trash compactor that was full of mechanical hands. There was a single string with a key tied to it in the middle of the room. Every time he took a step, one of the hands would grab him. They were weak by themselves, but together...Kokichi could only assume that was a different story.

~

In both rooms, there was a monitor with a timer for five minutes. It began.

~

Shuichi walked over, wading through the glass figurines. He accidentally stepped on one, and he grimaced in pain. The sound of glass shattering echoed throughout the room. He thought for a moment, then grabbed a single figurine and flung it at the stack of Monokumas. The careful arrangement broke.

~

Kokichi heard the sound of glass shattering, but he was a bit focused at the moment. He climbed up a ladder attached to the side of the room and reached for the string. He couldn't get it. The boy pursed his lips, thinking. He decided to take the risk, and jumped off the ladder. Got it. But now he was stuck in a sea of hands.

~

Shuichi searched for the key, each and every movement causing glass to cut him. He had some stuck in his arms and legs, but he didn't have the time to heal himself. His hands grasped something thin, cool and smooth. The key. He pulled his hand out, and started making his way to the door.

~

Kokichi fought against the hands, pulling himself to a ladder that would reach the exit. His key was in his mouth, the only real secure place to put it. He slowly, but surely made his way to the ladder. Eventually, his hand clasped the rung. He pulled himself up, taking the key out of his mouth and fiddling with the handle. The hands gripped his left leg. Kokichi was correct in his earlier assumption that together, they were stronger. He found this out by registering the sound of his ankle being dislocated. He let out a cry, and, through furrowed eyebrows, was able to open the door.

~

Both boys made it to a large room. Kokichi limped towards Shuichi, who rushed towards him despite his own injuries.

"Kichi! Oh my gosh, baby, are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine...what..." The boy looked around, realizing that the doors they came through had been cut off by metal bars. "W-Where is the exit?"

They both looked around, but neither could find any door. Shuichi looked up.

"Look! There's a vent!"

Kokichi's eyes widened. "...That vent is t-too high up for b-both of us to get t-to..."

An alarm blared through the room.

The two looked at each other and realized. With their injuries, only one of them could get to the vent.

"Kokichi..." Shuichi mumbled. "...I-I..."

"...You know w-what they're trying to do, r-right?"

"What?"

Kokichi looked up at the timer, which now read 2 mins 30 seconds. "They w-want to rush us to a d-decision. But it's a fake decision. W-We both know...there's n-no surviving a Danganronpa e-execution..."

"..."

"T-They want to m-make us decide, only t-to crush us with the reality t-that the decision was pointless." Kokichi sat against a wall. "I g-guess the symbolism here i-is that by joining D-Danganronpa, we went from a w-world where we would die to a f-fictional world where w-we would die f-faster...ahahahah..."

"...Kokichi?"

"Y-Yes?"

"Can we hug...one more time?" Shuichi muttered, his eyes full of tears.

"Of course...c-c-come here..."

The lovers held one another. Soon, the timer read 1 mins 30 seconds.

Shuichi looked up. "Baby...will you s-say you love me?"

Kokichi was confused, but he complied. "Shuichi, I l-love you...from the bottom of my heart..."

"W-Will you...forgive me?" His voice cracked. "F-For what I have to d-do?"

"...Shumai..." Kokichi stared at him in confusion, and slight fear, but he nodded his head. "I forgive you."

"O-Okay...Okay...c-close your eyes for me, o-okay?"

The boy did as he was told. He felt Shuichi's hands on his face, kissing him on the forehead.

"I love you...I love you so much...I-I'm so sorry, baby...Just...think o-of something nice, okay?"

Kokichi nodded. "I love you too..."

Shuichi gulped, swallowing his aversion.

He snapped Kokichi's neck.

The boy fell to the ground, losing consciousness instantly.

Shuichi let out a cry of agony, falling to his knees. He hated himself for what he just did. He hated this. He hated living, He hated hope, despair, Danganronpa, everything. He hated the world for taking his love away. But...he didn't want Kokichi to suffer. He knew that the executions here were brutal, so he killed the only person he loved out of mercy. But there was no mercy for Shuichi.

I deserve to die. I've done so many atrocious things, enjoyed things I shouldn't have, and now. Now I've killed the only person... the only person that made life worth living. The light of my world. My hope. My joy. Kichi...My Kokichi...I don't deserve mercy.

Shuichi stood up, spreading his arms in acceptance.

"...Please...kill me..." He muttered through sobs.

0 mins 0 secs.

Spears shot out from every angle, piercing the grieving boy. He collapsed, reaching out to hold his dead lover's hand.

"...Kichi..."

Shuichi bleed to death.

Sunlight streamed through the window. A heart monitor beeped.

Kokichi squinted his eyes at the light, stirring for the first time in days.

Shuichi held his hand, smiling through tears.

"G-Good morning...my love."
