I'm dead

(Dan's Pov)

Everyday I watch her. It's not that I'm a stalker, I'm just protective. It's not like she cares anyway. She looks right threw me. I'm invisible, I'm dead. I died 3 years ago, and she was my best friend. Well I should say one of my only friends. She showed up to my funeral and cried. Because of that I chose to protect her. I'm a phantom, I'm a ghost. I fallow her to school and I leave her at night. Even though she has no idea I'm there; I kiss her cheek. I guess she feels the warmth, because she's smiles. I have a love that will never be returned. Sometimes I wonder if I should have pass on rather than torchering my heart with false hope.

It was a warm Monday morning. I appeared in (y/n) room at 7:30. She had to be at school by 8, so she was usually ready to go by this time. I noticed something different today. Her eyes seemed brighter and she was in a dress. Usually it was skinny jeans and a t-shirt. She examined herself in the mirror. "Maybe he'll talk to me today," she mumbled but my heart heard every word.

I sat on her bed as I watched her pack her stuff. "(y/n) you're going to be late!" Her Roomate called. "I'm coming!" She yelled back as she walked out the room. "I guess I better go too," I sighed before phasing through the wall to outside. I floated near her, making sure to leave a respectful distance. She was walking with her roommate to class. "So your going to talk to him today," her Roomate smirked. "Maybe, but only if he talks to me first," she winked and the laughed. "(y/n) sweetie, you have to make your move or else (guys name) isn't going to notice you," her friend sighed. "I know but I kinda want him to talk to me first... I just haven't been the same since.... you know," she shrugged. "He's been gone for like 3 years! You guys weren't even dating," her friend said very confused. "I liked him ok. I just was to nervous to say anything with out some random embarrassing sentence leaving my mouth. Plus we had a few moments," she smiled softly and if I had a heart beat, I'd bet, it'd be skipping a beat. "What were they again?" Her friend asked putting her hands in her pockets. "Well-"

(Flashback) ((Y/n) Pov)

"Hey can I borrow a pencil?" I looked up to see a pair of brow eyes looking back at me. He was about 6'3, brown hair with a fringe, and was dressed all in black. Before I could say something stupid I reached in my desk and pulled out an extra pencil. "Here you go," I said trying not to blush and keeping my cool. "Thank you," he smiled, and a faint blush crept on my face. After class I looked over at him packing his things. "Hey Um," I said enough for him to hear. "Hm? (Turned his head) yes?" He asked. "Sorry I didn't catch your name, but my pencil," I said. "Oh I'm sorry! And it's Dan by the way. I just moved here," he chuckled as he reached in his bag and got out my pencil. He reached out his hand and I took it. "Well thanks again," he smiled as she got up and walked away. I was about to put it away when I noticed something. My pencil had something carved on the side of it. It said Dan H. He switched the pencils on accident! His was unsharpened. Probably why he asked for one. Not that I minded. I'll give it back tomorrow.

(End of flashback)

"Then I saw him the next morning," I continued

(Flashback)

He was going to class early because he was seeing how long it would take him to walk. He caught up to me and we began to talk. "Hey sorry I never got your name," he chuckled "it's (y/n)," I said nervously. "Ok (y/n) what time do you walk school I want to know how long it takes by foot," he asked. "Um I leave the house at 7. Classes start at 8," I replied nervously. "Why so early you just came out of that building over there," asked Dan since the school wasn't that far from here. "Bullies don't get up early," I faked a smile. He went quiet for a bit before saying "hey would you mind if I walked you to school. Be ready at 7:30 ok," he said with a general smile. "You don't have to," I said quickly. "I want to," he smiled as he put his hand on my shoulder and I blushed.

(End of flashback)

(Dans Pov)

"He kept his promise. The next day he was at her doorstep at 7:30 sharp never missed a day. He even came on Saturday cuz he thought it was Friday. He was such sweet boy...," she smiled but at the same time looked like she would cry. If I had a heart it would throb in pain. I couldn't cry but I knew if I could, I would be. Her friend put a hand on her shoulder and did a hopeful smile. "Hey he wouldn't want you to be sad! If he was still here he would have wanted you to smile," she said softly. "You're right," (y/n) smiled back.

"It been 3 years and I know he's in a better place. So that helps. Plus I'm learning that I have to move on. It's not like he's waiting for me," she sighed. "But I am," I mumbled. I followed them to school as usual. If only I wasn't being stupid... if I only waited till it stopped raining... the reason I died...
