"Okay. You wanted to call, and I called. Just explain yourself."

"Have you been crying?"

"... I'm not answering that."

"Pegs... I... I'm sorry..."

"Laurens start explaining yourself before I block your fucking number."

"Jeez, okay, okay. Look, when you told me that I rarely leave your thoughts... I was kinda scared. I didn't want you to fall for me. Hell, I don't believe you deserve someone as shitty as me."

"John, just continue. Please." Peggy's voice cracked on the last word and she mentally cursed. She rubbed at her eyes, trying to stop herself from crying again.

"Okay, okay. But when you told me that, it made me realize that I was falling for you. I think I started falling for you after that very first conversation, actually."

Peggy sat up on her bed, hugging her knees and listening to him. "Go on." She whispers.

"So uhm, yeah. When you told me that things just kinda clicked. It's why it took me a few minutes to respond. I realized that I had the most amazing girl I've ever talked to falling for me. Me of all people!"

Peggy giggles at that and listens as he continues, smiling slightly. John paused as he heard her giggle, his cheeks turning pink. She was so cute that he was sure it would be the death of him.

"And then you got upset... And I overreacted... And I'm sorry about what I said to you. That wasn't cool of me. So yeah, there's the explanation. I'll leave you alone if you still want me to."

"You keep answering that question wrong, John."

"What question?"

"What do I want you to do?"

"I don't know! You keep telling me to leave you alone after all!"

". . . Meet me in the park on Sunday, then you'll get your answer."

"Which park?"

"The one we were going to meet up at originally."

"Okay. So, Sunday. What time?"

"I'll text you the details tomorrow."

"Okay then...? Bye Peggy."

"Bye John."

With that, the line went dead and John was left confused, staring at the call time on his phone before starting to text Alex and tell him what just happened. He thinks he might have a date in two days.
